Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead!
Joe Cross from Australia made a documentary on his weight loss by coming to the states and fasting with only drinking fresh made juice for 60 days! It's amazing and everyone in here NEEDS to watch this! He is also on FACEBOOK. I just watched it last night and I'm excited to give it a try!

Never Too Late
It is great to hear everyones stories! I am 39, will be 40 in June. I never consider WLS until my employer sent out an email saying it was now covered in our plan! I made my first appointment Nov 1, 2011 and weight in at 307! I am 6'0 tall and in high school I was 180. I have to have 6 months of supervised weight loss which I started the second week of December. I am now down to 278! I probably won't be able to have surgery until June (my big 40th birthday present to myself!) I am so excited and feeling so much better already! Friends tell me " your doing so good you may not even surgery!" I still do because I know my track record and it is too easy to put the weight back on!! I just hope that I can convince my husband to follow!

New Here..
Welcome Angie! I felt the same too, and am in the process of completing my 6 month requirement for insurance. It will be June before I'm done with that. So between now and then I'm really trying to focus on eating like I will have to once I have the vsg done. I'm down 16 pounds so far.

Which shakes have the most protein?
I have also been drinking the premier protein shakes that have 30g. I do really like them a lot. Other protein drinks I have tried actually seem to taste too sweet and don't have as much protein. Plus the Premier are easy to take for on the go.

Feeling Frustrated With The Pre Surgery Process
I'm sure hoping for a fast road to surgery! I had my first appointment about a month ago, spent this last month gathering all the requirements my insurance requested (5 years of medical history, 6months of concurrent medically supervised weight loss with a physician, psych consult and consult with a dietitian) The lady in the office said it would take 2 to 4 weeks to hear back from the insurance. I would love to have surgery scheduled by January sometime! I hope this is realistic!

Article On Gastric Sleeve Surgery Patient
Yeah that is why I am leaning towards keeping it on the down low with most people. I mentioned it to a friend of mine and shes trying to get me to try this diet of hope program another one of our friends is doing. I'm tired of trying one failing diet after another. I just have made up my mind, it didn't happen overnight, and for my health I need to do this or I'm afraid I won't live a long life! Or I end up stoked out and having to have family help me or end up in a nursing home. Everyone has their downfalls be it smoking, obesity, drug addiction, sex addiction, shopping addiction and the list can go on and on.

Hello, I'm new to all this!
Hi! I just joined today myself. I had my first consult appointment November 7, 2011. Been in the process of gathering the last 5 years of medical history, got a note from one doctor for the 6 months of consective supervised weight loss, and the psych consult. Monday Nov 21 I will have my nutritionist consult and meet again with the weight loss doctor on Dec 1. Then the process of getting everything submitted to my insurance and hopefully have an approval soon after!

Surgery Date Dec. 17th SLEEVE
Good for you! I can totally relate! I am already 39 and I just started the process to get sleeved on November 7, 2011. I wished I could get sleeved before the end of the year. I'm hoping at lease by the first of the new year. I have been wanting to lose my weight before my big 40th birthday! But that only gives me till first week of June. I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes for you
