  1. I'm just wondering ...how do the docs know that they actually filled your port? Like, has anyone ever had it happen where they know it didn't go in, and possibly just went into your body? My first fill experience was very easy...no problems..she even said she could feel my port perfectly between her fingers when she was doing it. I have absolutely no restriction but I know that's normal...But I still worry...what if they miss?
  2. This is exactly what I'm going through...I'm almost 2 months out and haven't even attempted to weigh myself because I know I haven't lost. I will find out when I go to the docs...The weight I've lost so far was from exercise before surgery. I have only had one fill so far and can't wait for a second one...I exercise like crazy too...we need both tho...exercise and the band to help our eating...we have to wait for our restriction before we start to loose most of the weight. I know, it sucks! Don't worry though, I have talked to many people who started off this way, and ended up getting to their goal a year later! We will have success too!
  3. That is really sad honey...I couldn't imagine being without my mom ..she is my best friend and you sound like you are being so strong right now. I would be falling apart. On a happier note, you should be really proud of yourself. You should consider yourself one of the lucky ones who is loosing without a fill. I had my surgery 2 days before you and haven't lost anything...So I envy you right now. Hang in there.
  4. This happened to me too! I think after a few days to a week I was able to burp again...it was something I wasn't expecting so I thought it was a problem too...I felt like my doc should have told me that would happen cuz it kind of worried me!
  5. Hey Miss A! That's funny that you say that because that was really what I was trying to do before everything got out of hand. I'm so glad you got something out of it. And just to let everybody know- that's exactly what I needed as well to get my butt moving. My surgeon told me what I needed to hear and it made me do what I needed to do. If it wasn't for her sternness I don't know if I'd be where I am today. That's all I was trying to do...was give it back to anyone who cares...but I don't care if everybody "likes it" or not.
  6. First of all, you should definitely see a doc about your depression ...but aside from that, the best advice I can give you is to just GO FOR IT. Its summertime now, and for me that's incentive enough to get out there and go for long walks with weights, do work out vids and just start to feel better about yourself overall. It helps the depression too when you are getting out there and doing it everyday. I can't tell you how much my mood has changed and how much happier I am once I started doing this! I know its hard to get motivation...because I was just like you before I started...but from what I can remember, my doc kind of pushed me and basically told me I wasn't getting the surgery if I didn't loose weight so that made me do what I needed to do...It was the push that I needed to get in the mindset that I needed and I haven't looked back. I am such a happier person now just from six months of exercise and a decent amount of weight lost from it. I know you can do it too...because trust me I was just like you before...if you just MAKE yourself get up and DO it...that's what it takes. Get into the routine...good luck and message me if you need to!
  7. I'm so sorry hun....good luck with the surgery. There is good news though...you've done great and lost what over 70 pounds? That is amazing and I think you will be able to loose the rest on your own if they take the band out. Best of luck to you.
  8. It's the same for me and I know its normal..but yes its very very annoying! I have people asking me all the time how much I've lost and all I can say is that I've only lost inches because I exercise everyday...the weight really hasn't come off and its been almost 2 months since my surgery. I've had one fill, and it didn't do anything...I still have no restriction. My next fill isn't until April 5th. Originally my appointment was for the 12th but I told them I had to change it so that I could get in sooner! I cant wait until this next fill...but who knows if it's even gonna give me restriction...that's why they call this "bandster hell"...everybody keeps telling me that. You just have to have willpower right now I guess.
  9. Wow see I didn't know that it was common for ppl to gain it back so much...my mom had gastric bypass and did great with it...she's kept over 100 pounds off for over 11 years...she weighs around 130 now...first she lost 100 in the first 7 months, then years later lost another 20-30 pounds..in fact this year she started loosing a bit more! She's never once gained back a significant amount. She still can only eat a tiny bit after all these years...so that's just crazy to me that you guys went through so much only to gain it all back in a few years...its terrible! I really hope the lapband works for you!
  10. Wow really? I wonder why the hell gastric bypass didn't work for her...who knows if this will work for her either! I guess we will find out..
  11. Between 2-3 weeks I started back I think? Not the gym but my usual routine at home with exercise DvD's. Just do what you can handle.
  12. I have an irregular and heavy period anyway...but the week after surgery mine was very very heavy and lasted like 2 weeks which is normal for me...sometimes the bleeding lasts for months actually. But its weird...idk if it's from loosing weight or what but now I haven't had it for over a month! It's so hard to tell with me what's going on...I assume though its just your body getting used to all these changes.
  13. I've had nothing but support from my friends and family..it's a shame they can't just be happy for you and not try to bring you down...what is with people? What kinds of things are they saying?
  14. That sux. It's a shame that it didn't work out for you. I'm assuming you probably will be out for like 1-2 weeks just like it was when you put the band in. Right? If not, maybe it will be a little longer...but it will be almost a month before you go so I'm sure you will be fine for your trip.

  16. Lapbandgal...well done! You've maintained your weight loss with exercise...who knew? And I'm sure we all lead busy lives as well and find the time to work our butts off..because that's what it's about! Sarahbear...I totally agree! I have a bunch of different workouts that I use and I find that I have to switch them up all the time...because they say that when you do the same workout over and over your muscle just gets used to it and you stop seeing results...so as soon as you make your muscles do something different you see them again. Other person...And you called me condescending! I understand that you want to keep one up-ing me every time you respond and it's pretty humorous. Are you a child? Or are we adults? The fact that you can type fast means nothing...(and if you must know I can too, last time I checked 99wpm) because it shows right now that you were online for OVER an hour! Looks like somebody had lots of free time on THEIR hands! And do me a favor...quit wasting your valuable time that you could be using for exercise...cuz I'm not going to read one more childish thing you have to say. All I did was say what a lot of people are thinking...but nobody has the guts to say..I have no desire to "change" anyone who cannot be changed. You want to loose the weight without exercising...go right ahead...Don't be surprised when you gain it back because you aren't maintaining it (Again, things I've learned from my doctor and here). I've said what I had to say...and I'm completely over talking about this... you want to continue it..have fun talking to yourself...
  17. I started with Walk Away The Pounds too! Its GREAT for a beginner. She starts you off slow..so you can go at a pace that feels right for you. You can find her DVDs at Wal Mart. Good luck hun!
  18. Thanx So are you! I'm glad I could put you at ease for a little while. Two weeks after surgery I was just fine...I didn't have any chest tightness or anything for that matter. I felt great. I was just about to start exercising again at two weeks out. Is chest tightness something that happens a lot? I haven't heard of it.
  19. Hey hun...I have asthma and I've had 7 surgeries including my lapband. I was very nervous too...and I can't remember what they gave me...I want to say it was the versed...that made me feel very calm and nice before surgery. Since I have asthma they gave me a nebulizer before surgery...and I did fine....I have had asthma all my life and have never had a problem with it for surgery. My asthma is mostly exercised induced ..and if I don't take my inhaler before exercise then I have a problem and need it desperately. As long as I take it before, I have no issues. I have woken up before (At home) and needed my inhaler though. Since surgery, I have had no extra problems with my asthma...its the same as it always was.. The surgery went really great...I didn't even have any gas pains...I think because they forced me to get up and walk as soon as I could..so make sure you do that and you should be golden. Good luck and message me if you need to!
  20. LoL that's funny! My bed is my best friend too! Lmao! I really don't like how I feel when I take 5 hour energy. It depends on the person though..you could just try it and see how you do...cuz at my work I sell them to ppl all day long who swear by them. It makes me feel funny though..like its too much caffeine or something...kinda jittery and odd feeling. I still drink coffee and do fine.
  21. Sweetie please tell them..I have a feeling everybody will be very happy for you! You did the right thing...but you are right you need to tell them now. I understand though why people don't like to tell...I however told everybody I know and I have never had a negative reaction to it. Not everybody understands the lapband though...you tell somebody WLS and they automatically think Gastric Bypass...so I find you really need to tell people what its all about too. Good luck...you will feel great once you get this weight off your shoulders in more ways than one.
  22. Bayougirl- same here! For a long time my boyfriend and I had sex like once a month or sometimes once every two months! It was sad! I felt really bad but how can you have sex when you aren't comfortable in your body? Since I've slimmed down and lost like 30something pounds I've been feeling amazing though and now we have sex all the time!
  23. Don't worry honey we are all here for you! You will do fine! It is very normal to be worried...I was ready but very nervous at the same time! My main thing was being cut up...I hated thinking about it...but it really wasn't a big deal...my scars are healing up nicely too. Good luck and feel free to message me if you need to!
  24. Wow really? Look I know you may have a busy life but you have no right to try and talk to me like that...I may have come across a little strong but all I was doing was trying to motivate people ...and not like I need to explain myself but I already said I was angry when I first wrote it..because everyone around me makes excuses all day long...not necessarily pertaining to YOU ..and I was trying to talk to people who actually want to exercise..if you don't want to that is your prerogative...and you really think that one hour is a lot? That's pretty laughable...this is exactly what I was talking about..I bust my ass with my busy life AND I work in an hour a day...if its too much for you...nobody said you had to..its still excuses though...What about right now? You seem to have had a good amount of time to type that out huh? And as a matter of fact after I get everything done in my day I AM tired and ready to fall down...you have to WORK to get what you WANT...you can't handle it...I guess you don't want it bad enough. But I really have no desire to debate this with you ..you don't like it...I don't care...
