Fit sixty is the new forty five!
Hoping us more (ahem) mature adults are finding that being in good shape in our sixties makes us feel like we are in our forties! Many of us, myself included , find that being healthy and fit in our sixties is BETTER than our overweight, unhealthy forties/thirties/fifties. (Insert appropriate age here) I am thankful to have found a long term solution to such a personal issue....for many years

First Colonoscopy next week - tips?
The best hints I can give from my experience is have the prep liquid ice cold. Then get some magazines, or a good book, buy some soft wipes and don't plan anything out of the restroom for several hours . The next am wasn't as lengthy . Good luck and hope all is well. Think pink healthy colon!!

On 2016 I am going to...
I'm going to relearn how to load and clean my pistol. I used to be so anti gun, until I stayed in Alaska for an extended period. but now widowed.... I don't care about items, but don't know what to clearly do if the invaders want more than "things". Just my way of feeling safe Ps. FYI No kids anywhere around my house

Best Protein Bars?
Combat bars are worth trying. Quest are great, but they don't agree with everyone's digestive track, And they can cause gas for many. Pure protein are decent imho. For cost, I will sometimes get a box of those at target. 20 g of protein and 190 calories

NSV at 2.5 Years Post-Op
I second the tailor idea! I had very nice, almost new clothing that just didn't fit correctly after a TT. For a nominal fee, I had them contoured, and felt like I had brand new, personalized clothes. I did have her add some custom touches with appliqué, Buttons, grateful dead emblem, etc and it felt like I was so good to myself!! I needed to ask around, as there was a large difference in what seamstresses charge. (I would think a good hint would be if they work out of their home, saving a lot on overhead costs) It was one of the best clothing moves ... Our bodies do change!![emoji418]️[emoji625]

How did you deal with changes to your hair during regrowth
I try to use Enjoy morrocan oil when my hair is drying and looking fly away. Trying to avoid hot curling irons and using regular, old fashioned curlers... Seems to help... Also, as others have noted, my hairdresser is adamant about not washing hair more than 3 X a week. Kinda hard after workouts... But it has helped a lot!

For those who have had unfills
Just had an unfill yesterday and liked reading about the mindset of eating like you're at maximum fill. Ultimately it is up to each of us what we decide to put in our mouth and how active we choose to be. I just liked having the restriction.... Giving my band 2 weeks to calm down before I go for a small fill. Hoping I do well I should know the rules to keeping this weight off by now!

What on earth is happening?
Well, I'm many years out and my take is some weeks I'm way more hungry than others. Conversely sometimes I'm not hungry at all. Water can be helpful... Hot tea... Exercise... Maybe a bit more protein at mealtime. Sometimes I just have to have hours of being hungry and being ok with it. For me, it does change.... I just don't know when. Let us know how you are coping[emoji93]

TACO BELL it is
Where the heck do you order a dozen deep fried chicken gizzards? Never heard of such a thing. Thinking it is regional?

Wishing others would "lounge"
Thanks for the reply CJ. Ya. Soup always works. I just find my social life is .... Different. I really can't drink much. .. Like one cocktail... Don't eat much.... Not sure I can "whoop it up"anymore except for about an hour.... Those long dinners with appetizers and desserts are gone... Gosh. I do sound a bit like a party pooper!!

Wishing others would "lounge"
Hoping to see some new threads here from some seasoned veterans. I know there are things to chat about when life is a bit different after WLS . How do you handle dinner out when you are just not hungry? Or if you are a bander, when your band is irritated? I have a harder time socially, because I never know from day to day what will set my band off. This is one of my most vexing issues.....

The Biggest Loser
I dvr my way through the many ridiculous parts of the series. I must say I thought the young twins had a chance with pushing each other and being young and in an athletic job. As others have mentioned... Where is the " where are they now" part... Not just a few contestants... I want to see lots! I think they sign some sort of waiver or I believe a show or book would show up about life on and off the ranch!! Jmo

January 2016 Banders
This is a great place to ask questions, and just to explain what you feel like. Most likely, someone has some experience with what your concern is. Also, many are quick to let you know if something doesn't seem right. Good luck for a healthier life!

Soft foods diet and travel...
Last week I traveled with ready to mix protein shakes with no issue. I would recommend breaking down a box of protein bars tho... I was stopped and searched as they show up as a sort of "brick".... Security doesn't like that . I have also asked the taxi to stop at cvs , Walgreens etc on the way to the hotel to get pre mixed shakes and stock up. It has not been a problem. Bon voyage [emoji93]

Do I Get Voted Off the Forums if.....
I think many of us agree that cutting calories and exercising are wonderful weight loss tools. We still do this I think. Just a lot of us have a tool to help NOT regain after our loss. I wouldn't be a WLS recipient if that had worked for me in the long run. My belief is our metabolism gets changed by the frequent up and down, off and on dieting that the majority of America tries( hence the million dollar weight loss industry) It just was not sustainable for many. Hope you can beat the odds. They were at < 5 % last time I researched.

Getting banded Friday
Being banded is a wonderful tool for weight loss. But it looks about 40% of people have issues in the first 4 years. The surgery can be fairly easy; outpatient and home by the afternoon. The apprehension and worry was way harder for me than the actual procedure. I hope you have a successful weight loss like many of us. It changed my life!! (Sorry to say it appears I am a bit of a thread killer.... They just seem to end after me.... Is it me ? Do tell.. I don't want to be that person!)
