  1. Totally the same for me. I am a rock star during the day. I can say no at work ( most times ) to the donuts and goodies staring me in the face all day. I can say no to the impulse buys in the check out line at the grocery store . But when I get home its hard to say no after hours. After I've eaten a good healthy meal, protein and veggies, then waiting 30 minutes for something to drink ( yes I still follow that rule too ) , then around 9pm something crazy happens and I go into the kitchen and must put something in my mouth. Why do we do that? Why does our brain wanna do that. URGH.. so frustrating.. If I could get past that hump, getting these next 50 pounds off might be easier. So Mokee.. I am right there with you and I'm sure 100s more of us are too.

  2. I took two weeks off and was very very week for those two weeks. I didn't start getting strength until end of the third week. My doc said it was a combination of the diet, low intake and the body adjusting to surgery and the anathetics used during surgery. The weakness was the hardest for me.

Also follow the docs perscribed eating plan carefully. once during the first two weeks i tried to eat tuna, which I thought was mushy but it wasn't really and I had a close call... not a good experience at all.

Once I past the third week things were getting much better. Now in my fourth month and I feel awesome and must admit I look great!! Good Luck!!

  3. You sound like a red meat eater and that's cool, lots of protein in there. Might I suggest for new diner ideas fish. I put salmon in the oven, its quick its awesome and there are many varieties of fish so you wont get bored. Sometimes even a quick fry with small amount of olive oil for a talapia or whiting is soo soo good. I suggest tuna steak and salmon for the meat lovers becuase its a more stabstantial piece of fish.

  4. I am three months out but I remember in the begining I felt hungry. I've seen on this site it could be acid check that out. But also with you being about three weeks out your still in the mushy stage and probably not getting alot of good protein. Increase the fluid through the day. If your getting in the prescibed amount of mushy food and its protein based, not veggies, not fruit those foods wont stave off the hunger, you'll soon adjust. hpe that makes sense

  5. We've all been there. If your really physically hungry increase your protein and drink more. I find if I'm sipping something I like to drink i'm not hungry. if your emotionally "head hungry" then get rid of the carb chips, and find snacks low or with zero carbs. might not be the best thing but I eat porkrinds. They are a great crunch and zero carbs. I sometimes dip them in cream cheese, or dip made from greek yogart, or laughing cow cheese. Head hungry is hard to manage if you don't recognize it and try to change the habits. Good luck!!

  6. Emotional eating, we've all been there. We are all still there. The sleeve will only help partially. It does not let you over eat at one time. However.. it does not prevent you from grazing, and eating bad choices through the day. Once we start there our weight we've worked so very hard to lose starts to come back. Its a daily struggle. I'd agree with others that have said, try stress managment, try to occupy your mind with other things that give you pleasure. I have found with the sleeve my cravings for certain foods are gone so that helps.

Bottom line we must try to find something why we have the void that food fills, and try to find something else to fill it. Its hard but continue to check out this site. Lots of folks looking to help.

  7. way to use that blender. Be careful I tried to move past mushie stage too fast its not fun. Stick to the blender approach you'll do fine. I added protein to pudding. That felt good going down and I was getting in protein. I didn't find blending meats was tastey. your doing great

  8. What point are you at? I can say I felt the same way in the very begining. Once I had the surgery my focus was clear. Eat Protein, then veggies, take vitamins and get excersise. That's my life now. Its no longer overwhelming but it is always there. I get to this site at least once a day, it does help. Your not alone.. and I've found the people on this site very helpful. Hang in and Check in. This will give you good support

  9. I echo JMarshall with all the reasons for chosing the sleeve over the lapband. The constant maintence of the lapband turned me off. I read where one person took three sticks to get the right spot to adjust the band. The thought of leaving that object in me for life, really turned me off.

I will say.. yeah to those that lose a lot of weight fast. I'm two monts out and have only lost 25 pounds since surgery. But I've lost a lot of inches and am still really satisfied

  10. If your still feeling sluggish and tired, please talk to your DR. Have you started your vitimans? B-12 and calcium etc? Those are important to getting you back to health. I find the burping is more when I eat too fast. Slow down and chew, chew, chew. I'd also agree, getting in that protein from food sources will help as well. Needless to say, you must increase your protein intake

As for the depression. Maybe you were expecting to lose a lot of weight really fast. I know I was and had some depression and frustration. However, even though I'm down 23 pounds in 2 months.. that's more than I've been able to do in the past so I'm happy. Its a marathon not a sprint. Concentrate on getting in the protein with foods you enjoy, meat, fish, eggs, yogurt, cheese. I drink kellogs Protein water.. It has 5g protein, but adds to the water consumption as well.

Hang in there. Know you'll get better

  11. Its not a secret, I'm proud of the decison I've made to get my weight and health under control. However,, there are some that see this surgery as the easy way out and will have negative comments. There are some that will say "you don't need that just excersise and cut back on your food intake" . its easy for others to give comments

My suggestion is to only tell those that need to know.. Tell those that you will need support from while in the hospital and during the first 3 weeks of recovery. You can tell others as you move forward. It might be easier on some to know after its done.. then they can't try to talk you out of it, or worry about you during recovery.

Good luck. I'm about 9 weeks out and feeling really good. I have zero regrets. However, be prepared for the first few weeks to be rough. I cried from the weakness and length of strengh I had even through week 3. Now I'm on vitamins, getting in the right amount of protien, leaving out the carbs, drinking the right amount of water and feeling good and satisfied.

  12. Hi Guys, I'm only a few weeks ahead of you, about 6 weeks out, The tired feeling was really bad for me, at week 2 and 3. I thought I'd never feel normal again. Take comfort in knowing your strength will come back. You wont always feel weak and tired. I hardly ever feel hungry. I must remind myself to eat sometimes. I hope that hungry feeling goes away for you soon. I'm sure it will our bodies are amazing. Hang in there.

  13. Hi Erica,

I also prayed with you, for you, for me, and others that are going through what we go through daily. Lord please continue to bless us as we move through the daily challenges of life. Please continue to place in our hearts the joy and love your grace and mercy brings. We are all flawed and will fall sometimes, but I have faith that you are always there to pick us up, and dust of off. Thank you Lord for giving us a new day to be the people we know we can be.

    Keep on keeping on!!

  14. I'll admit the liquid post op diet sucks.. but you may be in some pain so you wont want much anyway.. during that time picture yourself making healthier choices. The 3 week puree phase was easier, cream soups, cream of wheat, puddings were my friends during this time. I got a blender and blended peaches and pears. I blended boiled chicken and added it to cream of chicken soup. I could not get in hardly any protien so I didn't lose any weight during those three weeks. Now I'm in soft foods and can eat eggs, tuna, soft fish and things are working out much better. The other thing I've noticed (and I hope this happens to you), food taste different so the things I craved before I don't crave now, except chocolate.

You will make this work, becuase you've taken this drastic step and you'll learn to use the tool to your advantage while still treating your self to the foods you love (eventually). Good Luck!!
