  1. you cant imagine how happy i am for you ! what a gift ! hoping all continues to go well ! Count your blessings ! Congratulations !
  2. i used my Magic Bullet and made Campbells chicken noodle soup or vegetable beef into pure liquid by pureeing (spelling ?) them, mmmmmm, they were so yummy! I couldnt stand chicken or beef broths, (too salty) but i loved the Campbells. Also, try pureeing watermelon(mostly water) , its yummy too. I still like Boost protein drinks (10 grams of protein per bottle, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ).Check with your Dr first. I agree withthe previous posts, stay on the course because it is sooooooo worth it ! You've barely begun your journey to a new and improved you, so dont give up when the journey starts getting a little tough ! you can do this ! The liquids are only temporary , so hang in there! Nike sign- "While it may suck that I cant eat some of my favorite foods all of the time, it sucks even more to be stuck in a body I hate" Oh, how true...........
  3. I saw this Nike quote somewhere........." While it may suck that i cant eat some of my favorite foods all of the time, it sucks even more to live in a body that i hate ." Ohhhhhh, how true! your friend may be stuck in a body she hates and may be jealous of the fact that you may be competion, etc..... you have to do whats right for your health and body, not theirs. in 6 months ive gone from 225 to 188, a size 18 frumpy, am happier and heathier, look and feel 100 better, and its been oh so worth it ( and the size 14 skinny jeans yesterday didnt hurt either ! )so you just do whats best for you and maybe she'll come around when she sees your progress ! If not, its her problem , not yours. good luck !
  4. indyhandmade, i love blizzards too, i have to have a mini blizzard once a week ! On days when i want a heathier ice cream like snack , i eat a frozen sugar free pudding . MMMMMMMMMMM!!! cold, creamy and sweet and chocolatey !
  5. ive been banded almost 6 months and i still eat steak, about once every 2 weeks. Lucky for me i can still eat almost everything i did before, just in smaller amounts. The only thing ive had a real bad reaction to is raw broccoli (a baddddd "stuck"), and i had 3 sips of a strawberry margarita and had a bad reaction to the resturant 'cheapie" tequila. i eat bread, and potatoes and an occasional tortilla chip in very small amounts, and chew very well, otherwise they expand. (ouch !) My hubbys diabetic and a meat lover so we eat anything diabetic friendly. Hope all goes well for you ! good luck !
  6. This is some tough love coming your way , so be prepared ! Im sorry you have to go thru this with no support at home, but hey , you'll get lots of support here ! You have to remember WHY you got banded in the first place. It was'nt to get others healthy and strong, it was to get your self healthy and strong. "Others" are not responsible for your past or future weight . (You are , and you CAN do this ! ) They may be childish, immature or irresponsible with the way they are treating you, but nobody is eating that food but you ! So get back to your Drs orders and while it does take time ,work and patience, the band DOES work, and you will see results ! Ask yourself where you want to be in 6 months and suddenly that junk food doesnt look so good ! The band doesnt take away cravings , you just cant eat as much, you have to make better choices , and exercise. my dr agreed that if i followed the rules 95 % of the time i would be good to go . Ive lost 37 lbs in 6 months. so where do you want to be in 6 months ? Good luck, you can do this !!
  7. you made a smart decision to get banded, as its a way to get healthy and strong . however , some people who know nothing about the band may see it as a cop out and you're going to get flak from them. if you're the least bit sensitive about it , i say DONT advertise your face or anything that people could connect to you. once info of any kind is out there, its really out there ! And theres no taking it back !EVER I had no problem telling people about the band and got 100 % support from family , friends and co workers, but i knew i was dealing with good people in the first place. Im kinda a private person outside of that and would not feel at all comfy sharing anything with the rest of the world. i dont do facebook, dont put much private info on my lap band profile, etc. So i would suggest you keep your privacy if youre uncomfortable . you can always change your mind later. Good luck !!
  8. dont forget to take several plastic grocery bags in your purse. if youre traveling and you get stuck ,or have a reaction to something you'll need a bag . I know...... its not what you want to hear but better safe than sorry. stick to soft food as much as possible, wait on anything hard ( raw veggies, hard fruits , !breads, potatoes , etc.) have fun!
  9. This is an interesting subject. Ive been thin and ive been heavy , and yes ive been treated better when im thin. Sad but true. I cant change peoples perceptions about me based on my weight. I will say this , since ive lost some weight i dress better, put more effort into my appearance, and have a lot more energy and am happier because i feel better too. as a result people respond to all of that, and so yes im treated better. I also think people treat others well when they treat themselves better. By being banded, im eating better and exercising, so when other see me treat myself good , they treat me good too. Just an opinion. my hubby loves me thru thick and thin, but it is nice to have people be complimentary to me.
  10. i eat them all the time with no problems, just can only eat a half of one. Why did your Dr say no bananas ? Just curious..........
  11. Blue tattoo, you look fabuuuuuuuuuuluss !!!!!!!!!! Congrats ! i got banded 2 weeks before you did and im also down 37 lbs. feels pretty good , and It doesnt get old, does it ? What are your diet and exercise tips ? Im getting my 6th fill in 2 weeks, i eat way less than i used to, but still a little more than i think i should. Im hoping to have lost 50 lbs by my bday july 27th. What are your goals ? Good luck on your move ! you look awesome !
  12. Wow ! Congratulations ! whats your secret ? As far as clothing I buy almost everything at Goodwill or another 2nd hand store including swimwear for my swim class. Some people think "ewww, gross!" but if you wash items before you wear them its no different than buying them new. also if you buy several swimsuits for the next few months and outgrow them , you havent spent alot of money . Try to guesstimate how much you;ll weigh during your cruise, then ask someone who is at that weight what size they are now. Good luck !
  13. WOW ! congrats ! Tell us how your life has changed since you got banded , please !
  14. congrats ! I cant wait until i can post a 70 lb weight loss ! way to go !
  15. dont forget to take several plastic grocery bags with you when you travel on the off chance you might have a bite of food get stuck. You might be needing a bag quickly if you slime, especially if you're just getting used to solids. Good luck !
  16. i dont have a thyroid cond, but definetly had the "i cant lose weight " syndrome. I looked into the band after 2 relatives were successful with it, and saw nothing but positives . So i was banded last December and so far ive gone from 225 lbs to 187 in 5 months. i look and feel 100 % better, my sleep apnea and bp are getting better, & my digestive probs are gone. Ive gone from a chunky size 18-20 (im 5'3) to a much better size 16, and getting lots of nice compliments too. ( When was the last time some one said "Girl, you are smokin !!!!"??? it was an old friend i had'nt seen in awhile. but it still made my day !) I dont have a single regret about getting the band, im just hoping the weight loss continues and i stay healthy. So go for it !!!
  17. Way to go !! 30 lbs in 2 months is great !Im down 37 lbs in 5 months but i consider that great progress. As far as people thinking you are "cheating", no body would consider it cheating if they had to wear glasses or contacts to be healthier and live a normal life , now would they ? Those items are "tools" too to help people to see, just like a lap band is made to help people to live a healthier life. So if you cant educate them, just ignore the misinformed and enjoy your progress towards a healthier you! It only gets better !
  18. Five months ago today i got banded. The only thing i wish i had known was how easy it would be ! Ive lost 37 lbs, and look and feel 100 % better. As long as i follow my Drs rules 95 % of the time, i have success !( hey, nobodys perfect !) I watch what i eat, limit sliders, exercise 3-4 x a week and stay up on fills and Drs advice, Works for me !
  19. Dont know if this will work for you or not, but try making a list of 10 things you could do when you have something stressful happen to you. Make sure they're NOT food related ( like going out for ice cream). When something stressful happens, pull out the list and go do one of those things on the list. some ideas might be, get a mani/pedi, call a friend, google "People of Walmart.com (hilarious !!) Youtube some old comedy shows (its hard for me to eat when im laughing my ass off watching "Whose Line Is It Anyways," or" In Living Color !)", go for a walk. etc.........Good luck !
  20. i can eat pretty much anything, including hamburger. If you are concerned about the fat content try turkey burger (Yum!). it 's very low fat, or even Bison burger. You'd have to get Bison at a specialty meat shop, and it may cost a little more, but you would be eating so little of it it would be worth it.(Yum again !)
  21. i know you're not much of a protein eater , but thats why you're not full, so thats probably why you're not losing weight. Have you tried tasting different types of protein ? maybe some things that you have'nt tried before ? I love Oberto's Turkey Jerky (Costco or other stores ) . its a good protein source. Some people like cooking tofu, its full of protein. maybe ask your Dr or a nutritionist about other protein sources. or maybe other bandsters have some ideas ? Good luck- hope you start loosing again soon, dont give up !!
  22. this is the healing phase, not the losing phase , so give your body the time it need to adjust and you will see good results if you follow your Drs orders. Its not an overnight thing but once you start getting fills and following the plan, it will happen. Im not always patient either but i knew i had to do it the right way, and it worked ! Im down 37 lbs since mid December, look and feel so much better with lots more energy too !Just give it TIME ! good luck !!!
  23. im about the same size as you, i started at 225 last Dec, now im down to 189. ( i'm 5'3) .I noticed my pants were loose first, then the scale started moving down. I carry most of my weight in my mid section so when my pants started falling down it really was apparent to others.
  24. way to go simon ! Is'nt this fun ?? You should be patting yourself on the back for doing so well !! it kind of shocks you in a good way, doesnt it ??? Im a size 16 , but the jeans are starting to get a little loose, so the other day i was doing laundry and looked at my daughters stretched out size 14 jeans , and thought "i wonder how much longer before ill be able to wear those ?" Well, just for fun i tried them on (I'm evil that way) and Holy Smokes ! they fit !!!!!! and they looked good too ! Woo hoo !!
  25. my dr said ok to an occasional drink. i dont like beer, wine, or hard alcohol except for strawberry margaritas.mmmmmmmmmmmmm....... any hoo, keep this story in mind, i only have 1 -2 margaritas a month (or less) but i found out the hard way that the type of tequila can make a huge difference, really good Jose Cuervo tequila=no problems, cheap tequila at a mexican resturant=major reaction !(i threw up every thing!) Before being banded i had no problems with the cheap kind. Good luck !
