  1. First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their support. It truly means so much to be knowing someone knows how I feel. I guess what upset me most, to answer you question, B-52, is--if he thought that then, when the heck would he think NOW? Another thing that bothered me is, I used to go over this girls house when both her parents were usually at work, after school on a Friday, and we would walk from her house to our high school for football games. I never ate dinner there, in fact, can't remember ever eating a morsel there. Which is why I was hurt and confused at the same time. I don't know. What I do know is that I am thankful for all of you, because for the first time, I have people to turn to that have been there. People that have struggled the way I have, felt the embarrassment, in one way or another. As a matter of fact, this brings another insurance office story to mind (how could I forget)...I work in an office with 4 other girls. My grandmother, who is 86 years old, was in the office for a visit. Everyone was telling her how great she looks for her age blah blah blah. Our financial specialist, a man, was telling my grandmother what a beautiful family she has--she said something to the effect of--yes, I have such a beautiful family, and my granddaughter has a beautiful face, BUT she's "heavy". In front of everyone, and they all went silent. The tears came. And I ran to the bathroom. Thank God I love the girls I work with. They were so supportive about the whole thing, but it really stung. I can't wait for surgery.
  2. I'm sitting in the parking lot at my work, ready to leave for the day, but in tears. I work in insurance and just spoke with a customer. In high school, I was good friends with his daughter and would go over the house once or twice a week. I asked him if he remembered me...he said he did, and said, you were at my house all the time, of course I remember you! You were always hungry! Just for the record, for anyone that is not aware of my past, I weighed about 125 pounds in high school. But only because my mother really watched what I ate, and had me gping to the gym with her. I would fluctuate 10 lbs up or down based on how much sneak eating I did. It hurt so bad to hear that from someone, that's what he remembers about me. It really made me sad. I'm so embarassed of what I have become, and what I have allowed something as simple as food to control my life. It just brings up so many emotions that I can't even explain. But I want to thank you guys for being here, because I honestly can't even bring myself to tell my family this happened.
  3. So awesome! Kind of the opposite happens to me when I see people from high school...they don't recognize the 100lb heavier me!!! Can't wait til people recognize me again! Ugh!
  4. Wow, amazing!!! Wishing you the best! And ladies, when they come out with the brain band, ill be the first in line!
  5. The abbreviations had my head spinning!!
  6. I agree....all we can do is inform ourselves, and pay attention to our bodies. Thanks, I'm so excited for my surgery!
  7. I know someone that had bypass and had a body lift, can't see her scars at all...arms, legs, only on her stomach can you see it, but its very low so it doesnt show in a bikini. Good luck!!!!
  8. Yay!!!! Can't wait to heat how it went! Good luck fellow January bandster!!!
  9. I actually have tried it, as I stated, I purchased the samples...I actually really like it, but its quite expensive when you plan on 1-2 shakes a day!
  10. Hummingbird, I just visited your profile, and I must say the blog where you posted the note from your surgeon sums it up pretty well...calorie deficit is key, its as simple as that!
  11. Its so encouraging to see people here that have not made the band this big complicated issue...just smaller portions...can't wait for my band, and congrats on all your success!
  12. G is also for Good.Good thing I am reading this BEFORE surgery because the amount of laughter this post caused surely would have me in "stitches" or ripping them. LOL!!
  13. Can you have chicken broth? Get the fat free kind. It's clear, has Protein, and def isn't sweet. Unjury.com also has chicken flavored Protein Powder that you can use with warm Water, or unflavored protein can be mixed in as well, as long as the liquid is below 130 degrees.
  14. All my preop is in my signature....quiet extensive, but confirmation that I am still very healthy and ready to stay that way!! What did everyone else have to do for preop?
  15. I agree, it should be as simple as that, and in fact that is what I went into this expecting. It would be great if it worked for me that way, my surgery is Jan 30. However, I am willing to accept the changes I may have to make as far as not being able to tolerate certain foods, and realizing when I am full (from what I hear it will just take that ONE time to over eat to teach a lesson) Another change I am willing to make is becoming more active. I am not a fan of the gym, but I love walking/running outside and am currently buliding a horse barn where I will board and care for 10 horses....needless to say I will be getting my activity levels up soon, but in a different way. The difference post band will be, I will now be able to see results from my activity because I won't be undoing it with eating. Hope I answered your question!
  16. We all see where hard work got you...looking AMAZING!! Im ready!
  17. after counting calories for what feels like FOREVER, not having to do so is gonna be awesome!!
  18. I'm freaking out too, btw, my surgery is Jan 30. At this point, I have made myself so nervous about complications during surgery, I'll be glad to just wake up! My first surgery ever :-\
  19. You will LOOK so AMAZING you will replace the feeling food gave you! The holidays will be about everyone telling you how great you look! : )
  20. Denise, you sure are doing a lot of research today!!! Keep it coming! LOVING IT! Had I seen these stats before and been UNINFORMED, I would be scared. However, I know that success can happen with the band, as evidenced by all the forum members I have seen here have incredible success. I'm not big on statistics anyway, because, you can never be sure how someone is going into surgery. They could be thinking they can continue their ways and the band will do all the work--but I know I am going to change.
  21. I recently ordered the sample packs of unjury (was told this is what I would be given in the hospital after surgery) and this is what it came with: Unflavored Protein to add to crystal light, pudding, Jello, etc chocolate spledor (mix with milk, delicious--just like chocolate milk) vanilla (mix with milk, also delicious) strawberry (mix with Water or lemonade--tried with water, hated it) chicken flavor )mis with warm water for chicken Soup flavor) I haven't seen too many people here mention it, so I was just wondering if anyone uses it? And if not, why not? Cause it tastes awesome! The price may be a deterrent to some, I suppose. 17 servings per container, $22.95 per container 180 cal 0.5 g fat 4 carbs 20g protein 3g sugar
  22. If I have learned one thing during this process, it is ASK QUESTIONS. Not saying you haven't, but I can't tell you how many appts I have been to where I have wanted to ask certain questions and didn't...only to be kicking myself later. On the other hand, I am a very quiet, laid back person and sometimes don't want to ask the "wrong" question...but I am also the type to obsess about stuff too, so in order to keep myself sane, I have learned real quick to speak up. On the note of starting to feel nervous, I agree. My surgery is Jan 30. It can be very discouraging to get so excited, and think you have a pretty good idea of what to expect, and have someone be a downer. But it have to say I can count the downers I have seen on this forum on one hand..one or two fingers, in fact. I try to focus on the positive. In the end, we will be banded. We will do our part, and we will do GREAT.
