  1. Wow you are beautiful! Great photos and awesome transformation!!!!!
  2. @auntitraci. You named your doggie Moose? My little boy furbaby is named Micky Moose haha!!. I have 3 Malshi-s (maltese - shitzu ). My oldest is 8 and her name is Bella. My other two are 4 yrs old and their names are Koco and Micky. Wow 3 life classes is great! The more info, the better! Congrats on passing your psych evaluation. I am so sorry to hear about your sleep apnea, but I will almost guarantee that will go away once you start losing! I can tell you that C-Paps take some getting used to. If you can get a good nasal mask similar to this one, it will be much easier. http://www.buzzfeed.com/joeloliphint/the-invention-that-could-end-obesity#.rhAGAn1YGM You may need to start off with 20 minutes then work your way up in time. 20 is better than nothing.. Hey if you would like to join our private WLS November 2015 Facebook group. Send me a personal message and I can send you a friend request
  3. I found Premier Protein at Walmart for a 4 pack around $7+
  4. I agree, you need time for your body to heal. I am anticipating taking 4 to 6 weeks off mainly because I travel for work 5 hours one way. So I will need to have decent reaction time and mental alertness. I have a combination of desk job, but also I am running around alot too. @SunlnUT - I am glad you took the extra week. Your body will let you know for sure.
  5. You all are cracking me up! Lol mine....sadly they are heading south. I worry about the drastic weight loss and where they will be headed. Who knows... I may end up stuffing them in my socks before it's all done!
  6. My Zumba instructor was telling me about something similar that she had read about. It is like a funnel type thing. Not sure if this is the same as above article. This article below talks about a device called "full sense device" http://www.buzzfeed.com/joeloliphint/the-invention-that-could-end-obesity#.rhAGAn1YGM
  7. Hi you are free to add me, just PM me, I am on Facebook. I was a banded patient but that was removed Aug 10th and my surgeon is making me wait so I can heal before revision to RNY which I plan to do in November. Not sure on the date yet. It might be Nov 12, 13, or 16th. My NUT, and Psych evaluation is Oct 2nd and then they will submit. The hard part is waiting, but I still have my port incision that is still healing. Looking forward to getting to know others who are going through this journey too
  8. I agree, add one food at a time so that you know how you will react to it. I am so sorry you are having a rough time. Call your NUT and see what she recommends. Please keep us updated on how you are doing. Hugs!
  9. That's awesome! @@Sajijoma - do you have a tentative date for surgery?
  10. Oh there are so many things you can still do such as legs, butt, abs and cardio! I injured my knee several times in the past and didn't allow myself to stop going. I just focused on arms, abs, and butt. You just have to modify your workout for a while, no worries! Just know your limitations and listen to your body. Walking is always great cardio!
  11. @ANewMe83. Yes PB2 is very good. You can mix in with shakes too. They also offer Chocolate PB2 if you like chocolate and peanut butter yum!!!!
  12. @@doyouhear - blood sugar checks are protocol after abdominal surgery. Our bodies react from trauma from the surgery so they just monitor. If there is a problem, they can see the trend and address it. I am not Diabetic either, but every abdominal surgery I have had, it has been protocol. I think I was in recovery about 1-2 hours.
  13. I think it depends on your boss if you feel comfortable in telling them. Some bosses aren't trustworthy enough with that information. Legally they can't ask you. All they can ask is how long do you expect to be gone and when are you planning on return.
  14. @@auntitraci I have heard of people using the Flintstones Vitamins also. The first month, we won't be able to eat the solid Protein so shakes or unflavored protein that can be mixed in SF pudding , yogurts , Soups etc.so that you can meet your protein needs to avoid muscle loss and to covert the fat to energy so that you lose weight quicker. How old is your German Shepherd? I love animals. I have 3 dogs of my own. I think I would go nuts staying at home. I work part time just on the weekends and occasionally work from home also. My husband has been extremely supportive over the past 11 years. He has been through every crash diet, and supported me when I went through the band. He has even ate similar foods to what I was eating at the time to make it easier for me. He is also supportive of my decision for bypass, even though I know he loves me just the way I am, but he wants me to be happy and healthy. We actually had a conversation the other day. He said that when I get done with my bypass and later my tummy tuck, that he wants a Harley. Lol. I had said "ok no problem". Then he said, "not a matchbox kind, and it must be life size, has an engine, with wheels, and it must be in working order". LOL! He was specific, because he knows my sick sense of humor. He asked for a Harley years ago and I got him a matchbox size and put under the Christmas tree...hehehe! That's awesome that your husband is supportive. It makes it so much easier!
  15. @@Pinkgirl1234 so glad your endo went without complications! That darn reflux! At least now you have that helping your case. wow that's awesome that you have your appointments so soon!!!
  16. If you have worked for a company for over a year and have worked at least 1250 hours in the year, then you can qualify for FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act ) which you are allowed 12 weeks in a calendar year. I have been working for the same company that offers paid time off (PTO ) and also emergency medical time off (EMTO). Usually the first 32 hours come out of a Paid time off bank and then the rest can come out of EMTO bank. I also have short term disability benefits that I pay through work. If your work doesn't provide PTO, you can still qualify for FMLA if they have more than 50 employees, but you may not get paid if you don't have PTO. However you time off will still be protected under the law and they have to keep your job as long as you return at the end of the 12 weeks. I am not required to disclose to any employer what I am having done. I will say I am having surgery, but will not disclose specifics. Employers can't ask you either, it's against the law. So, if your employer has less than 50 employees, and if you have worked there less than a year, then you won't be able to use FMLA. I would find out those questions first. I am a pro at FMLA lol
  17. @@Lemon109 - so glad you had a good appointment with your Dietician yesterday! Premier Protein is concentrate.. I haven't tried any of the BS shakes yet. Yeah Benefiber is a must. I was going to check if I can continue my fiber gummies after surgery because I have diverticulosis and don't want to get constipated and trigger a diverticulitis episode, those are painful. Ever since I started on the fiber gummies, I haven't had any problems. How do you prepare your shakes? I wonder if the foam taste is the mixing process? Thanks for sharing the Bariatric fusion. I will have to check those out. I love the calcium citrate chews from Celebrate and BA, they are yummy! , however I might try the cinnamon you mentioned just to have a variety I plan on buying the unjury unflavored and also GENEPRO unflavored protein to mix with food. I hear they are both good.
  18. @@Reem Ashraf - which surgery did you have? I am not sure if the Books that they offer on here have the nutrition info you need. I haven't read them yet. However that might be a good place to start.
  19. Yes, I want to know too! Let us know how you are doing! Hope everything went well for you
  20. Awesome! It will be here before you know it! It is an exciting and scary time! Stress sucks. I chew gum to help with stress. I am not sure what I will do after surgery, because we aren't allowed gum for at least 6 months. So was thinking of sugar free mints. That will be challenging. Maybe ice chips too. I even exercise with gum! Yeah, I have been saying goodbye to many of my favorites that are full of sugar and fat. I would hate to even try any of them post op for fear I would dump and then never want them ever again. Coping strategies for stress, I am thinking my husband should give me a back massage every day for 6 months haha! Yeah that sounds like a plan lol!
  21. @@auntitraci - awesome! Sounds like you are well on your way. For every thing done, you can cross off your list and it's that one step closer which is exciting! Have you checked on which Vitamins, which Protein that you will use? How long will you be taking off work? Do you have a good support system in place? I am looking for a good tasting chewable Multivitamin. I contacted Bariatric Advantage and also Celebrate Vitamins to obtain some samples to try. Bariatric Advantage will send out samples at no cost, but Celebrate charges $3.00 for sample pack ,but they give you quite a bit to sample. I hear that Pure Protein tastes good as well and they recently came out with a pumpkin pie shake! Yummy, just in time for Fall ;P
  22. Call your surgeon or the pre-op team and let them know. You may need to reschedule. Having solids before this procedure can put you at risk for complications such as aspiration, bowel obstructions etc.
  23. Thanks. where do I find the November thread? I don't have a date yet. Just my final approval date is the end of October. It is found under Pre Operative Gastric Bypass forum.
  24. Did you see that Pure Protein is now offering Pumpkin Pie? Yummy!
