  1. most likely dehydration.....you gotta up that water intake! my skin has never been softer and more radiant then now...and I know it is all attributed to drinking my weight in water (not really that much..lol) I love it!!! especially since at my heaviest i had these little pimple like bumps all over my arms, legs and butt. I am sooo thankful to report that all of those nasty bumps are gone!! good luck.....and drink drink drink!
  2. I have been rewarding myself every 25 pounds. I need it! my next reward is going to be a full body massage. I have never had one because I have felt to fat to do it...it would be so embarresing....but now I am feeling more comfortable in my own skin and am looking forward to it when I lose all the way to goal my reward is going to be a lot of stuff! #1 will be a tummy tuck and a boob lift/augment #2 will be a whole new wardrobe and #3 is going to be an ankle tattoo of my kids names. you definatly need to reward yourself! you deserve it! congrats!!!
  3. I am almost 9 months post op. I still have a hard time getting all of my protein in. dont beat yourself up. just try to squeeze in those extra things when you can. I add egg to everything, and I use protein powder in a lot of my cooking. sometimes it is hard to do....you arent going to drop dead if you dont get every little bit of protein in everyday, so stop stressing....start being clever, you might find it fun good luck!
  4. moms can be stubborn.....I didnt tell mine or my mother in law. ( I actually didnt really tell anyone except hubby and 1 of my 3 kids) I dont feel the need to explain how I am losing, its nobodys business. hope your mom comes around!
  5. my hubby was in the Army and got deployed when our son was 3 weeks old. I felt soooo horrible! I must have looked a sight, cause I was crying so much that snot was running down my face. I was so thankful that they waited to deploy him until after I had the baby....which they didnt have to do, they were going to deploy him when I was 8 months pregnant but our son was supposed to be downs and so the Chaplin stepped in and got his deployment delayed. thank god our son was not downs, and his deployment seemed like forever at the time, but then it was over before I knew it......wow that was over 12 years ago now! he has been out for 11 years now, thank goodness! military family was wonderful to us, but you are constantly affraid that they are going to send them out I am so sorry that he had to go....make sure to keep that military family close to help you get through this time! Good luck!!! dont forget that there is a ton of support on here for you too!
  6. the headaches can be caused from the pain meds too. the pain meds they give us can cause a thing called rebound headache. I got that a lot when i was on them. hope you feel better
  7. I am almost 9 months out and I still have this happen to me if I eat to fast. .... if I dont pay attention to how fast I eat I can get sick super fast. I also have the ability to vomit without sticking my finger down my throat....this sounds bad, but I find it very helpful when I feel like I have overfilled by accident. I just squeeze my stomach muscles together and out comes the food that is causing the trouble. there isnt any stomach acid mixed in thankfully so it tastes the same as when it is going down, and doesnt burn my throat. sorry if this is tmi for anybody, but I tend to tell it like it is. truth is my tummy is still a baby and I am just still learning what I can and cant do. I also continue to suffer from the desire to eat just to eat, and not because I am hungry. this surgery isnt a magic trick, I totally understand what they mean by it is a tool to help...not a cure. I'm not sure that I got that before surgery and I am still kinda figuring that out now. Still have the overeaters mind but I am in no means saying anything bad about the sleeve.....it definatly has been doing its job well. good luck on feeling better soon. definatly talk to the doc
  8. my hubby says that all the time now! haha even when I wear just a tee shirt and jeans he says it.....im like...um really, im just in my normal clothes. he is so jealous now too....driven me nuts. he at least recognizes it is a problem, and he is trying to work it out. he said he is just a little insecure now since I look so 'HOT" haha
  9. yeah, it weighs the same, but one pound of muscle takes up a whole lot less space then one pound of fat...thats for sure....and the muscle sure as hell looks better blackberry----this definatly applys to you....look at all that muscle, if those arms were filled with fat they wouldnt be looking so great
  10. sounds really yummy, I will have to try! thank you!
  11. that sucks, but the good news is that you had the surgery that can help fix this situation. The liver is an amazing thing, it can and will regenerate healthy tissue. you just need to do your part, which is making sure to optimize your weight loss while you are in the prime time to do so. My girlfriend had gastric bypass because she had cirrhosis, and now 3 years out she has no signs of any liver damage. you can do this! get moving! good luck!
  12. first, about the blood pressure...there is a thing called orthostatic hypotension, big name for when you stand up from sitting or laying down your blood pressure drops....this is what is causing the dizzyness.....it is common to have this symptom after major weight loss....what to do for it is to get up really slowly from a sitting position....and from a lying position it is good to dangle your feet from your bed for a few seconds and then rise up slowly. as for your heart rate... it changes all day long, with exercise and with breathing. you already had a low pulse and bp before surgery so this is not abnormal for you. obviously if the doc or nurses in the hospital were worried about your low pulse then they would have said something then and issued you a medication for it. make sure you are getting in plenty of fluids and electrolytes, as this can lower and increase your bp and pulse. if ever you feel like your heart rate is to low (which I doubt will happen) get up (slowly) and move around a bit. And as always if this continues to be a concern of yours...dont hesitate to go to your doc and talk it over with him or her good luck to you!
  13. i didnt have this but i do have different healing of the scars.....I had 2 right next to eachother....same size and everything...I was noticing that while one is barely visible anymore the other is still bright pink.....wth? I had 5 all total, and the 3 others were very small, and you cant even see those anymore, which i am thankful for, but the one in the very middle, right above my belly button has to be bright pink? it sucks.....oh well, when I have my tummy tuck it will be gone anyways! lol hope yours flattens out!
  14. I wouldnt buy to much of it before your surgery, because you dont know what you are going to like after surgery. I bought a big bag of protein powder from my doc that I tested prior to surgery and loved.....only to have waisted my money on it because after the surgery I cant stand it. I know it sounds silly, but there are some things that I used to eat before surgery that I loved and now dont want anything to do with them because how they make my sleeve react. I would just get some samples from a place like gnc, and test them all out after your surgery and then go from there. good luck!
  15. I love garage sales for clothes shopping! It is a good idea to get several sizes. I bought sizes all the way down to a 10 before my surgery, and now I am able to fit those 10's.....it is pretty cool!
  16. my nutritionist and many other doctors have told me that when you are eating actual food that contains protein it is better then shakes or vitamins...supplements and other ways of getting in protein.....not dissing protein shakes, or other forms, just saying it is better for you to receive the stuff from real foods (according to my nut and doctors)....that being said, it does make it easier to get it in when you have a scoop and measure out how much you are getting. I like to make protein pancakes with the stuff.....I add 1 egg to pancake mix, then 1 scoop of whey protein (banana flavor) and 1%milk instead of water....then cook the same as regular pancakes.....I can only fit one small size pancake in at a time, however that one pancake has over 20 grams of protein.
  17. thank you for letting us know how someone is doing a few years out now. I am always worried that I am going to screw this up somehow. I have been exercising a lot since my sleeve....and it feels wonderful to get out of the house and move. it is really motivating to hear from people like you thanks
  18. i could barely fit an egg in at that time, however my doc said that he can only change the width of the sleeve, not the length.....so, everyone is going to be able to fit a different amount. eggs are deffinatly a great sourse of protein, and it is real protein instead of the fake shake stuff...good luck
  19. I used to think this before the surgery. I know that the time you are having is rough...deciding whether or not to have surgery....I will just say that the only regert of having this surgery that I have is not doing it sooner. good luck!
  20. my arms are flabby, but not as bad as I expected....I work out with kickboxing to help, there is a lot of punching bags and push ups to tone the arms. I had someone complement my legs today, I was wearing a mini skirt! she was a skinny woman, and she asked me what I did to have such great legs...haha Just exercise anyway you feel you are up to. I love getting muscles where there used to be fat, it definatly helps make the loose skin not look so bad when you have muscles peeking through
  21. I went to victorias secret and got measured, they actually have bras for bigger gals, they just keep them in back instead of out on the racks. Lane Bryant also measures for the correct size, both places are really pricy, but I have noticed that they dont wear out or strech as fast as the cheap ones. I paid 50 bucks at victorias secret for a bra, but I love it so much, and it keeps the girls perky too. so to me it was totally worth every penny!
  22. I would call the doc as well....it may not be your gall bladder, could be that your ppi is not working well enough for you. tomatoes are highly acidic, and you could have agrivated your tummy with it, and it hasnt forgiven you yet sorry you are having this pain......but I had this happen too, the spasams and the pain all the way up until 2 months post op....the happy thing is that it does go away when you are further out....but you cant be to careful...call the doc, that is what they are there for. hope you feel better soon....until you talk to the doc I would try eating room temp bland food, and make sure to take the ppi's religiously.....good luck, and well wishes!
  23. if your boobs are more tissue then fat then this is normal. you wont lose tissue. I have the same thing going on. I was a 44 dd, and now after losing 118 I am a 38dd. I am soooo happy that the girls havent gone away, but I will still need a lift and I will probably add a little implant too once I get to goal cause when they take away the skin my boobs will definatly be smaller. I want to stay at least a d cup. I plan on getting a tummy tuck too I only have about another 35 pounds to lose before I get it because some of my weight i need to lose is extra skin in the tummy and boobs. I am really fortunate to be getting some back pay of $30,000+ that my job owes me here in a few months so I am hoping that I will be at goal by then so I can spend that money on my body! I have such a possitive outlook on life now knowing that I am so close to what I have desired for more then 16 years! Be happy your not losing your girls, there are so many women that say that those are the first to go for them. I know my doc told me mine was going to disapear...hehe lucky me he was wrong! sorry this is so long....just cant contain my joy!!! the sleeve is a beautiful thing!
  24. it is very hard to avoid all of the foods that are "bad". the more that you say you "cant have" this or that the more you want that item. I was able to eat popcorn at about 2 months, and could eat about 1/2 slice of pizza about that time too, or if I just scraped off the top of the whole slice and eat that. as for brownies....they smell so great, and look so delicious, but still at 8 months out if I eat them I feel like crap...the sleeve doesnt like those sweets at all. my tummy starts talking to me and then I feel like throwing up. if I want something I try a little bit to test the waters so to speak. I didnt do this to be on a diet for the rest of my life...i did it to be able to restrict what I eat so I can be healthy. I have been losing steadily and I feel at 8 months that I have lost more then I had expected to. I lost the same amount of weight that my 17 year old daughter weighs....I flippen lost a person! hehe So basically my personal opinion is listen to your sleeve....it will tell you if you should have it or not of course not until your doc clears you for a normal diet
  25. yummm....gotta try the salsa too....thanks!
