  1. Hello family, well my paperwork has been submitted to Aetna for approval to be sleeved. I called and Aetna has it as received on 10/18 and noted as "pending authorization". The very helpful service rep actually put me on hold today and called over to the authorization center to see if she could get any further information. They told her that all of my papers were in order, they just have to review all 29 pages. I am so excited and nervous all at the same time. Waiting is the pits (LOL)----we are such a microwave society---we really don't know how to wait for anything----we want everything now - instantly - well, at least in this instance I don't. I just want to get my "approved" so that I can rest easy. I am scheduled to be sleeved Nov 2nd and am scheduled to have my medical clearance process done Oct 26th. In my heart I know I'll be approved, but my mind has to catch up with my heart. After MANY years of fad diets (WW, Jenny Craig, Nutra System, Alli pills, Atkins diet, fasting, liquid diets and I could go on and on), I'm ready for my ultimate change. I'm ready!!! Pray for me that I remain positive and encouraged while I wait. Blessings2u--BJ
  2. Congratulations!!!!! I too am scheduled to be sleeved Nov 2nd. Just waiting for my insurance to approve. They've had it since Oct 18th----So prayerfully I will have an authorization by Monday. I am suppose to start my liquids on Wednesday-10/26th-----In the meantime, I actually started liquids 3 months ago with a little food in between. I figured I had to break bad habits early. Sugars and breads have always been my weakness. I drink Protein drinks (dietdirect.com)---product is ProtiDiet (stuff tastes like cool-aid)---I add in suger-free syrups--AWESOME!! I also drink protein powders with coffee & syrups added in---got to mix it up so that it won't become boring. I eat sugar-free popsicles, jello----all of this to get use to not chewing. In my case, I needed to start early. I also made a tomato based Soup with onions, lipton onion soup mix, beef broth & italian seasoning. Hope this helps. Good luck to you. Blessings2u--BJ *quick question: what insurance do you have and how long did it take for approval?
  3. Thank you---this helps. I was told that I'd receive a list from my Dr. but I just wanted to hear what others were doing. It could be my nerves wanting to get all of the information that I can.
  4. Hope my answers help you---I have Aetna as well: -2 year diet history - I just gave my surgeon my history of dieting over the past few years -3 consecutive monthly appointments with the nutritionist - I only had to have 2 visits with the nutritionist -Pulmonary clearance - sleep study required - Yes -Cardiology clearance - Yes - this happens as a part of my pre-op with my PCP -Psych clearance - Required 1 visit -Letter of medical necessity from PCP - Will get once approved by Aetna -2 Support group meetings - Not required for me -Pre op class - not require for me *I had to have 3 monthly meetings with my surgeon *Had to have extensive blood work *Gasro testing was a requirement - but since I just had my gallbladder removed--I just had to get clearance ***All of my paperwork was submitted to Aetna 10/12. Aetna contacted my surgeon's office 10/17 for information. I called yesterday -my status is pending. I called today - my status is pending. But my surgeon has requested approval by 10/24. Scheduled to be sleeved Nov 2nd----just need the auth. code from Aetna. The customer service Rep at Aetna told me not to worry--I'd have my in a few days!!!!!! I am so positive about this outcome. Hope this helped Blessings2u bj
  5. Hello family, just a question for some suggestions on what you ate during your various stages after being sleeved. My biggest concern is that I won't know what to eat past pop-cicles, pudding, jello, liquid protein. Blessings2u--BJ
  6. I just logged on to ask this very same question. As I read the replies I am extremely happy. I love me some popcorn. Waiting 3 months to eat it is nothing---as long as I can still eat it. I am waiting for Nov 2nd to have my sleeve done. Super excited!!!!!!!! I'm glad I found this little community. Blessings2u--BJ
  7. Hello, my name is BJ and I have just completed my Dr. evaluations and have 2 more monthly visits with my surgeon. My insurance company requires a 90 waiting period====so my Dr. believes that I will be having my surgery in October. He has requested that I "get rid of" 20-30 pounds before surgery. I have purchased protein shakes, cut out raw sugar and am now using splenda. I am doing all that I can to help myself be successful once I have had my surgery. It's nice to be a part of this VSG community. I have also begun uploading videos on youtube so that I can document my journey to being sleeved. The videos I watched prior to posting were so beneficial so my prayer is that I will be able to do the same. Thank you for this community Butterfly blessings2u---BJ
