What Was Your Bmi When You Were Sleeved?
No problem Kimmr! I never had a band, the VSG has been my first procedure, but I have been a sevee yo-yo dieter my entire life!

Diarrhea After Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
Yup! But I guess when all you take in is liquids, its also all you put out!

What Was Your Bmi When You Were Sleeved?
I had my sleeve just qualifying at a bmi of 30. I am so gald I did it. My psyche couldn't handle one more yo-yo dieting experience! When I first thought about getting sleeved, I thought alot of people would judge me for my "low" bmi, and yes, I have faced some opposition. I asked alot of people on here who had a similar bmi, and the universal response was "I wish I would have done it sooner".

The Clears.... The Clears!
Thanks so much for the advice and support guys! I am officially 8 days out and have made the executive decision to move on to very gentle full liquids ( skim milk, YOP, strained cream soups, etc). I am sipping a skim hot chocolate right now! So good This will especially help since today is in-law family Christmas... merry Christmas to me!

Things You've Noticed Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery
I think the sensitivity to tastes and smells comes from the liquid diet! Your tastebuds kind of take a new life. I remember a year ago when I did the "master cleanse" crash diet, I could smell like CRAZY!

The Clears.... The Clears!
Hey guys! So I had a very successful surgery on December 13th, and am now at home getting along just fine. .....Except for one problem: I CANNOT HANDLE ANY MORE CLEAR LIQUIDS! I was on one week clears pre-op, and breezed through it! I even had moreenergy than before. No issues with it at all. Now, post- surgery, I am on the same diet, but I cannot have any protein powders at all. I am extremely hungry. I also find that my tastebuds have changed, and all the SF Jell-O, Gatorade, juice, etc etc tastes so sweet and grossly fake. The company I went through (not the surgeon) advocates 2 weeks from my leak test of clears, then 2 weeks of full liquids, then 2 weeks of mushies, then 2 weeks of soft. Does this seem intense to anyone else? I'm not even dying for things I can chew, just some strained mushroom soup or something! I need some advice (as I feel I am truly going crazy). One week post op, am I ok to have full liquids? Or something? Anything?

Can We Get Back To Support And Stop Attacking Each Other Please?
Thanks feedyoureye! No, for me, bulimia has always been a result of overeating and being out of control (half a pizza). With the sleeve it will remove a lot if not all of that! At this point I can't even imagine doing that to my body, let alone my poor little stomach! I am excited to see if this curbs the ED as I think it will for other obese bulimics who feel out of control.

Can We Get Back To Support And Stop Attacking Each Other Please?
I know I certainly felt attacked when I came out about my bulimia struggles. Not just attacked, but really ridiculed. I was very disappointed in this forum and had to take a few weeks off. After that, I've turned into more of a lurker. It really is too bad, we face enough of that **** from the outside world, and have most of our lives as obese people.

Did I Make The Right Choice?
Hey mommamea, I met you in the epic line up at the TJ border. Very cool to see you on here! You will find tons of help and advice. Sorry you are still not feeling well! I think you should go to a doctor and get that tube out, maybe ask about an antibiotic and a tummy protector\antacid. I found once my tube was out my abdomen felt waaay better. Please work on your breathing, deep inhales! Lung related complications are the number 1 complcations. Maybe google some breathing excercises post op?

Help! Pre Gastric Sleeve Surgery Diet Is So Hard!
Im having a hard time too! My surgery in on tuesday, and for my last 3 day i'm clear liquids, no protien shakes. My thin husband is watching football and pounding down a bag of chips, pizza and beer as we speak. I teared up and had to leave! I never thought i'd get so sad. My first 5 days of clears, but with protein and water were waaay easier!

Help! Protein Powders?
I bought the breezers brand iced tea flavor. Not that great on its own, but mixed with some lemon-lime crystal light, its awesome!

I'm Bulimic And Getting Vsg
I should also add that I struggled with childhood obesity before I ever had the bulimia. For me, the bulimia is a side effect of my obesity.

I'm Bulimic And Getting Vsg
I was really hoping people here would be more understanding on this issue. Bulimia is something that has affected me on and off for the majority of my life, swinging between weights and sizes. Bulimia for me, has always been about feeling out of control, and I believe this surgery will quell that feeling. And how can you say I'm not big enough with a BMI of 30? How obese is obese enough? How is the way that I think about food any different than a person who has a BMI of 40? I am being honest about my struggles, and if this worls for me, I want to be able to talk about it to other people who live with this. I have tried all sorts of therapy/counselling, and unfortunately, if you have an eating disorder and aren't 90 lbs or hooked up to a feeding tube, not much car. Believe me, I've been there. I would appreciate positive comments, instead of facing the negativity. There are many people on here who struggle from major pre or post-op depression, and we support them. This is another form of mental health issue that shouldn't be judged on this board. We all have our food issues to deal with. Is this one more severe? Maybe, but I would place it on the same level as binge eating, which I'd say the majority of people here probably suffered with.

I'm Bulimic And Getting Vsg
I worry about the condition of my esophagus at times as well. No my surgeon does not require a mental evaluation, but I have been through enough therapists and counselors to BS my way out of anything. My bulimia has always been for weight los, but because I'm eating foods I deem "bad" and can't have one cookie like a "normal" person, but wil feel guilty after one and eat a tray. I'm excited to not have the guilt anymore!

Primal Or Paleo
Paleo is not a raw meat diet. I have done this diet many times in the past with great results, but the permanent lifestyle change is hard to maintain. You need to be VERY hardcore! It is a diet consisting of: all meats (keep away as much as you can from deep fried), veggies, berries, seedsand nuts. Fruits are allowed in moderation. Dairy is outlawed as are all grains and legumes. It is basically eating the way our ancestors would have before processed foods were introduced. Heres a great outline: http://www.squidoo.com/naturalhumandiet

I'm Bulimic And Getting Vsg
Hey everyone, I am a yo-yo dieter of the worst kind. I have been dieting since I was 9, stuggling with my weight since age 6, and bulimic since I was 12. I am now 26. I have been 205 pounds, 145 pounds, and everything in between. I've tried every diet, every workout, every lifestyle change, therapy, hypnotism, everything. After having one of the worst body-mental health-image wise years of my life and gaining 35 pounds 4 months after my wedding (which I crash dieted and was skinny for), I have made the decision to grasp this moment when I am not dieting and have a BMI of 30 to take the opportunity to have this surgery, which I believe, will save me from myself. I beleive this surgery will cure me of bulimia, as this disease has always been a vicious cycle of feeling out of control, then shame, then guilt The VSG will take out the first variable (feeling out of control) and will force me to face my issues and eat like a normal person. Has anyone else here actively struggled with bulimia in the days, weeks, months before getting sleeved? I would like to chat about the effects of the surgery on eating disorders, and if alternately, the ED had any effect on the actual surgery itself. If this is successful for me in beating my bulimia (which i truly believe it will be, or else I would not be doing it), I hope I can shed light onto how this wonderful surgery can do more than save lives through weight loss, but that it can save the lives of those suffering from bulimia as well. xoxo

Pre-op Blues!
Oh God, I feel this post so hard! I have NOT been myself since I decided to go ahead with surgery. I haven't been this big since high school (as I am usually able to yo-yo diet most of my weight off), but since I have vowed never to diet again, I am just out of control with eating, none of my clothes fit, and I am just kind of being a recluse until this is all over. I don't want to get my hair done, get a pedicure (my feet look like the Blair Witch LOL), and I don't really even want to put on makeup. I feel as though I am just gaining and waiting for my life to start over.

Ashamed of WLS?
I ended up telling my all my in-laws. They were EXTREMELY supportive and cried. Just goes to show you that the people who you are scared of telling the most might just surprise you!

Any Other Gastric Sleeve Pre-op's Heading To Tijuana?
I wish I was having skinny dreams! I am getting bigger it seems before surgery, so I am REALLY pre-occupied with that at the moment. I have been thin. not thin, thin and then not thin a million times over, and I don't think the reality of actually STAYING THIN has hit me yet! haha you're right, it is kinda exciting!!

Off To The Hospital!
Good luck!! You'll do amazing.

Ashamed of WLS?
I am struggling with this too! I have told my husband, my parents (dad had VSG), and 4 of my best friends. My husband was at first very unrelenting in the fact that I MUST tell his parents and brother. He is very supportive and has since come to the conclusion that its my body, and I tell who I want, when I want. I am really nervous abou telling my his family. My mother in law is very opinionated and judgemental, and his brother and sister-in-law are both hardcore gym buffs who excercise everyday, take supplements, and are into body building. I don't want to tell them. Is it so bad that for once in my life I want to be seen as the person who has their weight in control? My losses and gains have been so very painful and public, and I just want to be that "skinny girl" for once in my life. To leave behind the fat little girl who had to eat her lunch in a cupboard because kids would harass her so bad every day in the lunch room. It may be selfish, but its just how I feel. Are any of you struggling with how to deal with Christmas? I will be a week and a half post-op, so that basically means broth and jell-o for me. My husbands parents aren't close with any of their family so Christmas dinner is very intimate. What do I do? Tell them I'm sick to my stomach? I HAVE to go. Any advice? I may just have to come clean if this is the case.
