  4. That is awesome! Can't wait until I can make the same post.
  5. I have been banded since 12/13 and still finding out what does and doesn't get stuck. I also just got back from vacation and having to eat out every day. It was tricky but like others said I looked online at the menues before we went and I ate ALOT of seafoodand veggies it all went down easy. Outback and Ruby Tuesdays have great salmon if you like that and the portions are smaller. If I get a meal that is too big to finish a to go box works great and I usually have it for my next meal. You will learn soon enough what will and won't go down easy and always know where the bathroom is when eating out you never know when something will get stuck.
  6. Just checking in - Didn't get to post before the month was up I was on vacation and just got home today. First thing I did was weight and I was down a pound!!!! I'll take it. Didn't make my goal but 252 is close enough Name, real or screen~ Mary Fran Goal weight for Febuary 29th~ 250 Weight on Febuary 1st~ 259 Age~ 47 Dietary goal for Febuary~ Drink more water Exercise goal for Febuary~ walk at least 4+ miles a week Personal goal for Febuary~ learn to slow down when eating Date banded~ 12/13/11 Total weight loss since banding/pre op diet~ 41
  7. Congrats on your decision to get the band. As other have said this is not the easy way out and you need to do this for you and not worry about what others have to say. You have the support of your husband so now find others to add to your camp so you stay positive about your new journey. I too have been heavy since my 20's and I tried every diet under the sun and I would take the weight off an then it would return with "friends" so I would end up heavier than when I started the diet. It took me 3 years to finally say I AM going to do this and I WILL make this work. In 10 weeks I have lost over 40lbs and the journey has been pretty easy. You can do this it is just letting the band be in control of when you are full and the key is listening to your Dr and weight loss team and exercising. This site is a great place to find support and I wish you luck on this journey it is so worth it.
  8. Just checking in - today I am down to 254 and have lost 2 dress sizes Name, real or screen~ Mary Fran Goal weight for Febuary 29th~ 250 Weight on Febuary 1st~ 259 Age~ 47 Dietary goal for Febuary~ Drink more water Exercise goal for Febuary~ walk at least 4+ miles a week Personal goal for Febuary~ learn to slow down when eating Date banded~ 12/13/11 Total weight loss since banding/pre op diet~ 41
  9. Congrats on getting your date. The pre-op diet is a small spot on the map of this new journey. It will be over before you know it. It's hard but once your body gets used to eating or I should say drinking this way it gets easier. I am 9 weeks post op and almost 50 pounds lighter and I would do the pre-op diet all over again to get to this result. Hang in there it is so worth it.
  10. 11. If you have been heavy most of your life then this surgery will be the beginning of a whole new life! Just think of the new adventures you can have that you never could do in the past. The places you can go and the freedom you will feel.
  12. I have been over weight for the past 20+ years and it tookk me 3 years to finalloly say I am going to do this. When the scale hit the 300 mark that was the final straw. I was banded on 12/13 and have lost over 40 pounds. Now I look back and think why did I wait so long but I to researched everything about it read everything I could find watched videos and talked to people. It is worth it all. The surgery is easy it takes about 2 hours max and you are in recovery. See if you can find a support group in your area and attend there are a mix of people in mine both that have already had the surgery and who are consideriing it. You will hear great information and can ask all kinds of questions to people who have been through it. We are all here on this site to help you too there are so many on here who can offer you advise. E-mail me anytime and friend me if you like and I will talk anytime. What most people don't understand is our addiction is not like drugs where you can stop and still live your life ours you have to still eat to live and that is where the band can help you learn to control the addiction and live healthy. I can't believe in just these few short weeks how I dont crave things I thought I could never live without but you can. Good luck and keep us posted
  13. Great post! I have tried to behave only being 6 weeks out but I also know that down the line will I eat something that I just can't do without....heck yes!! If you always deny yourself something it only makes you want it more and chances are you will eat more if you try and stay away than you would if you let yourself enjoy it when you want it. Having the band makes me more aware of the portion size I can have. Thanks again
  14. I was banded on 12/13 and they weighed me just before going into surgery till today I have lost 30 pounds. There is a big loss normally right after surgery then you should start slowing down to around 1 to 2 pounds per week. Just remember some weeks may be more than others and the weeks you don't see any movement check your measurements those are victories too
  15. Final weigh in came in at 263 2 lbs below my goal!!! Still didn't hit the exercise goal I have work still to do there and this week everything seems to be getting stuck! Still no fill guess I will try liquids for a few days to see if that helps Name, real or screen~ Maryfran Age~ 47 Goal weight for January 29th~265 Weight on January 1st~275 Dietary goal for January~Listen to my band and stop eating at the first sign of full Exercise goal for January~Walk 3 to 4 times a week Personal goal for January~Stay positive it wasn't gained all in a day and it won't come off in a month Date banded~12/13/11 Total weight loss since banding/pre op diet~30 What is your goal weight for the coming year~200
  16. You will get tehre girlfriend read the stories on here and let them be an insiration to you and your weight loss journey
  17. You will be in that polka dot bikini just in time for that cruise! Keep me posted
  18. It took me 3 years to finally say I'm going to do this and I have been banded now since 12/13. Being on teh other side of the surgery I am so glad I did this for myself I have lost more weight on the band than I ever did on my own and even though right after is tough for some it is so worth it! Just wait until your clothes just start falling off and the scale is showing numbers you forgot were on the dial. Stay on these boards and read all you can everyone on here was and is a great support and I also found a support group from the hospital I had surgery through and they are wonderful. It really is great on the otherside
  19. That is awesome! Welcome to band land it was the best thiing I ever did for myself. Post often and let us all know how you are doing
  20. I was banded on 12/13 and on my pre-op visit my surgeon looked to see where my waist band sat. He had me remind him when he came to see me just before they took me back that he needed to mark my port sight above my waist. I haven't had any problems at all.
  21. Hit my goal for this challenge made it to 265 and still a week to go. I haven't even had my first fill...love this band! 24. I was banded on 12/13 and have lost 33 pounds. I think you will do just fine and be ready for your vacation in July. Just don't get discouraged if you don't drop as much as some of us everyone is different but you WILL get there. Good luck with your surgery
  25. Congrats! It was the best thing I ever did. I'm like you it has been hard to not drink during meals but you will find that once you get the band the things that made you gain weight won't be that hard to give up once you see the scale start to move. I am 4 weeks post-op today and have lost 22 pounds since surgery. Good luck!
