  1. Same thing happenee to me, I took the pain meds and took it easy for a few days and the pain subsided and did not come back. I had my post op and the surgeon said I may have torn an internal stitch but that with rest it would be fine...and I am fine.
  2. It gets better. I had surgery 4/6 and 3 weeks out I am enjoying the flavors of regular food but of course pureed or very soft. Cottage cheese with pureed fruit (canned peaches, pears, pineapple) goes down so easy. Fat free refried beans with melted cheese, tuna and tilapia, all kinds of soups, hot cereal. I have good energy too, not crazy about the protein shakes, but at this stage I need them. It will definately get easier very soon!
  3. Completely normal. It will change as your stages move forward. Once you move to full liquids it will normalize and the same for mushy stage.
  4. Gallbladder pain radiates on the right side under and above the ribcage and also radiates to the back between the shoulder blades. That is how mine was diagnosed, classic pain pattern verified by ultrasound. You already know you have gallstones, so there is a high probability they are blocking the bile ducts. But yes, see how you feel...if it continues, just go on in and have it checked out.
  5. Wait until your incision heals completely. Don't compromise your healing. There will be plenty of time to work out after you get thru this.
  6. Probably tender where your incision goes thru the layers of tissue and up thru the abdominal cavity. Did you do something strenuous? Just take it easy for a few days and see if it goes away, otherwise contact your doctor.
  7. Me too, added creamy PB at 2 weeks to my vanilla protein shake. No problem whatsoever digesting it and its high protein too.
  8. Of course all hot cereals, fat free refried beans with melted cheese, scrambled eggs with cheese, canned chicken cooked in chicken gravy on top of mashed potatoes. Sweet potatoes, bean soups pureed in the food processor or blender, all creamy soups, tuna fish. Cottage cheese with fruit, yogurt. As long as its very soft and chewed well, remember you'll get full on very little. Go slow.
  9. It sounds like it very well could be. I had to have my gallbladder removed years ago after I had my last child and lost weight quickly afterward. Weight loss aggrivates gallstones. I had definate episodic pain that made me run to the bathroom in pain, severe painful episodes. Fat in the diet sets it off as well as spicy foods because of bile stored in the gallbladder needed for digestion. Go to urgent care if its bad pain and they will do an ultrasound. The pain comes when the stone gets in the ducts.
  10. I had surgery 3 weeks ago today. It was the same for me at first then slowly I could feel hunger return and I was happy to feel normal...but as others have said, you will be easily satisfied with a tiny amount of food. Spacing liquid intake with shakes and meals takes some getting used to. I am great with liquids. Last week I invited family over for tostadas and I still loved cooking...I had 1/2 cup of refried beans with cheese and a little salsa and sour cream. I got a little overly full (just one bite too many) so I took a walk and felt just fine. Good Luck!
  11. I can finish 8 oz of protein shake no problem, hot cereals and soups 1/2 cup, dense food like meats/veggies about 1/4 cup, about 3 weeks out and 13 pounds down since surgery. I feel great!
  12. I had my surgery 4/6 and it wasn't that bad. I had no real pain just some discomfort. I was given a morphine pump and used it a few times on the day of surgery, but was up walking around that same day and using the bathroom. At home I'm taking it easy but I can walk 45 minutes easily and am feeling great. The stages of dietary restrictions can be sort of boring, but time flies...started pureed/soft foods, and doing well with protein and liquid intake. Think positive!
  13. Pain between the shoulder blades can also be gallstones. Keep an eye on that pain, and if you have episodes of exteme pain, you may need to see your doctor. Weight loss sometimes results in gallstones.

Protein water - like Isopure is what you need. Vitamin Shoppe and GNC have it, and I noticed Rite Aid has it too. It's kind of like Gatorade - a clear liquid with protein.
  15. nectar makes a slew of fruity flavored Protein blends you mix with Water. Look the flavors up on the internet. The chocolate/vanilla shakes are not for everyone taste. Also, Isopure is a water like drink with protein. Good luck!
  16. Someday soon, this will be me too. Great news!!
  17. I also went through the Options program with Kaiser. I'm having my surgery Friday, April 6th. We are on the same track! Good luck with everything. I have been buying all my supplies, I got my chewable vitamins and Isopure from the Vitamin Shoppe. Got creamy soups, sugar free pudding, sugar free jello and popsicles and of course protein shakes. It's going to be a journey!!! I'm in southern California having surgery at West LA with Dr. Zelada. He's such a wonderful doctor!!
  18. Good Luck. You have a great attitude.
  19. Jimmy I'm having my surgery on Good Friday 4/6 and hope to be home before Easter Sunday. I feel pretty ready. I was in the Kaiser Options program for 12 weeks which was basically all done in the Fall of last year. It's education classes with a nutritionist and a behavioral specialist. I was cleared for surgery in January but selected April due to family commitments and work - and now I am just around the corner. Bought my chewable Vitamins, started buying some of the items I am going to need once I get sleeved, Soups and Protein shakes. I'm not afraid of the procedure itself - just hoping that all goes well and that I don't run into any complications. How about you? What are you feeling? It's a journey, for sure. Katie
  20. Try this website http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html
  21. You've got my vote. You go girl !
  22. By now you should be on full liquids moving toward pureed foods from what I've been taught. Mornings might be cream of wheat or oatmeal made with milk or soy milk, creamy Soups for lunch, full Protein shakes in between, and of course lots of fluids. Your body IS hungry. Of course it is, and it's probably wondering what happened to it's fuel source. This is one reason you lose so much weight in the beginning through this process of healing. Good luck!
  23. I checked the nutritional information online and it indicates it is a hyrdrolized blend with whey isolate. This meets the guidelines and should be easily absorbed by your body. Go for it. I plan to do the same thing and use a variety of Protein supplements!!
  24. Perhaps it is what they call a stricture, a narrowing of a passage way in th body. This could have happened by virtue of scar tissue up near the top of your sleeve that is now created a narrowing near the esophagus. They have a medical procedure to stretch the narrowing open from what I've read on this website.
  25. Your stomach is still probably swollen from the surgery. As it heals over time, it should loosen up. The time it takes to heal is a part of the dramatic weight loss period and hence why you start with liquids and progress to solids slowly.
