Got A Big Date!

I finished Kaiser's Options classes on February 28th and was ready to wait months to just see my surgeon. But I got a big surprise on March 9th when his office called and gave me an appointment for March 19th. Dr. Zane surprised me even further with a surgery date of April 2nd! Less than 2 weeks away! Allan and I have a cruise booked for May to celebrate the big 50, but who needs to eat to have a good time! I'm excited and nervous, but really positive! For whatever reason, I didn't think I was going to survive the lap band surgery back in "08, but feel really good this time! I am determined that this is going to be successful!

Congratulations! Wishing you all the best on your journey (and the cruise, too). I've read of many people having surgery right before the holidays, and that must be challenging, too. You will do great!

I also went through the Options program with Kaiser. I'm having my surgery Friday, April 6th. We are on the same track! Good luck with everything. I have been buying all my supplies, I got my chewable vitamins and Isopure from the Vitamin Shoppe. Got creamy soups, sugar free pudding, sugar free jello and popsicles and of course protein shakes. It's going to be a journey!!!

I'm in southern California having surgery at West LA with Dr. Zelada. He's such a wonderful doctor!!

Wow! having my surgery April 2nd as well, on the 2 week liquid diet. I must admit it has been hard, this is day 6 I broke and ate yesterday! I never seen where someone wrote or admitting to eating at least once while on the two week liquid diet. I know it was wrong and I feel sooooooo guity and affraid I may have meesed up my chance. BUT I am 213 lbs I was thinking in my mind my liver might not be that big. I have 8 days left and will not break again! I have faith that I may still have a chance to shrink my liver shoot, i have already lost 4 lbs in 5 days from the liquid diet. affraid if I lose too much they may tell me I no longer meet the guidlines or weight to have the surgery since i am already borderline anyway.

I'm home from the hospital and doing better than I thought I would. In fact I was stunned at how good I was feeling at the hospital. Wasn't feeling so great when I woke up, but once the pain meds kicked in I was up going to the bathroom, etc.! Surgery was Monday morning and I went home Tuesday afternoon. The challenge now is to keep sipping, not laying down too much which aggravates the acid reflux and making myself move around, etc. My twins are driving me a little batty with their energetic, loud chaos, but reminding myself how much I love them. Do pretty well, still have some pain, but doing pretty well.
