? On Foods To Avoid
AS everyone else has said, you need to try what works for YOU Your doctor is giving you a list of common ptoblem foods but many people find no problems eating them, so it's different for everyone -when eating meat make sure it's cooked well and tender. Also make sure it's not too dry. Gravy rules! Meat can be tough and problematic but it doesn't have to be -Try the foods on the list by eating tiny bites and chewing well. See how you fare and then make your own rulebook Good luck

Please Help Me Understand Post Op Diet Rules Normal Diet Importance Of Carbs & Cals
I have no restriction yet, so sometimes its really hard but i try: -1000 cals or less a day -100 Grams of Protein - less than 100 grams of carbs (preferable around 50 but that barely ever happens) I have not yet seen a nutritionist, but this is what i've read on these forums and I try to stick with it myfitnesspal.com gives you a good idea of how many cals/carbs u need based on your goals

What Difference Does Band Size Make?
I have a 14 cc band (i think? I know it's the bigger of the two) Anyhow, I asked my doc about this and he said not to worry about it because it just depends on the circumference of the esophagus. They make the decision during surgery. The size really doesn't effect weight loss pace. Restriction does As far as the 4cc band, from what I understand they were too small and are not widely used anymore

Weiging???
Personally, I weigh myself daily but I do NOT recommend it. It gets discouraging to not see the scale move, or sometimes fluctuate Gotta get outta this habit... I think many people say weighing once a week is good

Unfill For Convience????
This is an interesting topic. I am traveling to Europe for vacation in January and have thought about getting a small unfill for the trip. I'm afraid that the altitude from flying will make me feel too tight (this I have read is a fairly common occurrence) while i'm too far from my doctor to get any help. This is not for "convenience" it's for safety, and for my own feeling of well being. I cannot imagine a long awaited and planned vacation that I have to spend the whole time being uncomfortable from my band. Seems more like a curse a vacation Dunno how my surgeon would react to that, but its a few months away so I didn't really think about it. i don't think getting a slight unfill for a vacation in another country is any sign of being emotionally unable to control my food intake

Learn From My $16,000 Mistake
What a tragic story I'm sorry to hear this. You did not write if you followed up with your doctor or not. A good doctor is not just someone who knows how to insert a lapband. A good doctor listens and guides the patient even YEARS after the surgery. If you didn't get proper aftercare then that may have been part of the problem. I don't understand why you couldn't eat out with friends- could you not even keep down soup/mushy things like soft pastas in small bites? (If that was the case then the LB should've been removed IMMEDIATELY imho) As someone else has said- for most of us we're doing WLS because we've tried EVERYTHING ELSE and were not fruitful. WLS is not for someone who has any other options. Seems like you have other options that work (holistic nutrition) Hope you do well with whichever other weight loss tactics you pursue

Plantar Fasciitis
So glad I stumbled onto this thread. In the past yeAr or so I have had worsening arch painbin my left leg. The pain was excruciating and the doc who made my orthotics was a moron and gave me inserts that are way too big to fit into my shoe. Now when I call him he refuses to return my calls Anyhow, I'm gonna try the frozen waterbortle idea, but I think it will hurt too much Working put has become such a disaster because I'm wincing I'm pain 99% of the time

- What Does The Green Zone Feel Like For You?
no one?- 60 Days Post Op Lab Band
whoa!! incredible!!- "omg, You Look Great...what Are You Doing? Then You Tell Them...
This is precisely why I won't tell anyone They have no clue how much work/effort goes into losing weight EVEN WITH the lapband. People think that the lapband causes the weight to magically melt off instantaneously, which as we all know is not correct. Even my family members who know about my surgery are wondering why my weight loss is so "slow" with the lapband (20 lbs in 2 months- which i think is gr8!). The less people who know the better. There is only so much negativity and false expectations I can handle without falling apart just my opinion- MyFitnessPal.com Members
just added ya'll but if someone else wants to add me i'm HannaR1989- September Autumn Challenge
Still at ~224 (no weight change) Love this thread because I can look back at my progress over the month and really see how far i've come. When I weigh myself every morning it can get extremely discouraging to BARELY see the scale move, but now I see i've lost 8 lbs and am right on track with my doctors expectations- What Does The Green Zone Feel Like For You?
Everyone has different experiences with the green zone, and I have read some interesting things on this site. Some barely feel any physical hunger, others get full after a few bites of food, and others hear their stomach gurgling after they ate enough. I have also heard hunger/feeling stuffed causes some to get left arm pain. So since I am post-op with no fill yet i'm just wondering what your experiences in the green zone are. It can vary, i know, but what does the green zone mean to you?- So Sad And Depressed!
first of all, you've only had the band for around three months. Losing 25 lbs in ~3 months is EXCELLENT. Not sure why your so downtrodden. My doc told me 1-2 lbs a week is the expected rate of weight loss so your right on track. If for whatever reason you were told/were under the impression that the pounds would come flying off quickly then you are mistaken. You are doing GREAT but as mis73 has advised, count calories (i use myfitnesspal.com but there are also other sites) and stick to one cup of food per meal. Keep your head up and try being patient. Its hard, I know (also frustrated by my super slow loss)- Green Zone?
Thanks for the insight! Cant wait for my first fill- September Autumn Challenge
Cant wait to weigh myself tomorrow morning and report to u guys!- For Those Who Paid For The Lb Thru Insurance...
Went through insurance but still have to pay $3000 (max out of pocket i think) And they cover fills besides for a $30 copay- Green Zone?
I see that picture in my doctors office and its a helpful barometer. It just seems that everyone's green zone experience is a little different! What does the green zone feel like for you? (some say they never get hungry, others say they're full after a few bites etc...) I'm post op with no fill so i'm curious to hear everyone's different experiences- Sad :( No Restriction
Thanks Marfar7! Love the insights! Do you ever miss the "thanksgiving full" feeling?- Sad :( No Restriction
Wow you lost nearly 100 lbs! nice! How long did it take you? I like that u never counted or measured anything, its refreshing to hear. What does your green zone feel like? - What Does The Green Zone Feel Like For You?
