  1. wowww!! thats awesom!! Can we have more details? How much weight did you lose so far? Do you have any tips for us newbies?
  2. Skimmed through this topic and to be honest I do see some immaturity on here, but its only like 10% of the time the other 90% of the time I see a lot of compassion and and helpfullness towards others. But that annoying 10% of the time REALLY SUCKS!! Happy holidays everyone
  3. BTW, does anyone follow his exercise regimen? I didn't have time to read that part yet, but the illustrations seem interesting I go to a gym 3-4 times a week and do both cardio and strength training but I don't use a trainer, I just do "my own thing". Maybe his exercise techniques are better than what i'm currently doing
  4. Ladies, do you find that you have issues wearing tight tops? I would hate to have a great body but have to worry about having to wear loose tops due to the noticeable bump
  5. I yo-yo'd a ton and I even think I had a net gain, but was still approved I had BCBS btw
  6. Just borrowed the book and read most of it Very interesting One other thing (dunno if it's been mentioned here) is that a major key is the 5 meals/day (eating every 3 hours) this boosts the metabolism and gets the body burning more I believe he categorizes low-fat string cheese into the fats category. For me personally, I would put it into the protein category. That's whats cool about this, we can alter it a bit to fit into our lifestyles (he says so himself) as long as we keep to the main rules
  7. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences Jachut- that's interesting that u were able to see the port and tubing. Omg! I sure hope my port will be unobtrusive... I asked my doc and he said that there's a possibility that it'll show/stick out, but I guess there's no point in woRrying now when I can't do anything about it anyways
  8. checkin at 203.4 this week. So thats .6 lbs down Very frustrating/dissapointing, but even a tiny loss is still a loss...
  9. Just wondering if I should be worried about my port showing a bump under my skin (or being noticeable at all) So far I dont see it at all, but I can very easily feel it under my skin. Like it feels really close to showing Anyone have any experiences? How easily can you guys feel your ports?
  10. wowww!! 9 lbs in a week?? did i read that correctly?? Good for you! Your successful posts give me the strength and encouragement i need to continue trying so hard (even though it's been a rough week) Thanks!
  11. WOW!! congrats!! I'll never forget my elation when I got my insurance approval letter! Whoohoo!!
  12. What a frustrating week! Thursday I was down to 202.8 Saturday I woke up and was 208 what on earth is going on??!! Now (monday) I'm 204 and I guess that puts me -1 lb from last week, so I suppose I should be happy
  13. This is normal, as your body is adjusting to a whole new lifestyle/diet I know it's tough but try waiting it out, and don't let the hairloss freak you out My advice: Make sure to get adequate Protein Take a once a day Vitamin Take 5,000 mcg Biotin daily Take a zinc lozenge (my doc said zinc deficency can cause hair loss) If it doesn't stop after a few months then get your hormones/thyroid checked out (simple blood test) So far my hairloss slowed down but my hair still has not regrown (hopefully it will soon!)
  14. I didn't tell anyone besides for my sisters and my mom BEST decision I've ever made People can be nasty/hurtful/blunt without realizing it. This is a tough time to begin with, who needs everyone else's judgement??!! MAYBE after i've lost all my excess weight and reach my goal i'll spill, but for now I can do without the judgements/questions that are inevitable when telling other people
  15. Great topic! Until i started wearing clothes that fit I didnt notice a thing Then one day I jokingly tried on my sisters size 14 skirt and it actually fit!! was a bit tight but was wearable.... Now that I'm wearing smaller sizes it's definitely beginning to show. Sometimes I look in the mirror discouraged at mow much more I need to lose and that really sucks, but i guess this is all part of the journey, the ups and the downs
  16. cool I didn't know that! I googled it and nothing came up, how did u hear this?
  17. I'm proud that you're not giving up, despite the band setbacks The newer bands have been greatly improved so I really think you'll have much less issues!
  18. Love Mis73 and Dee's answers Lap band surgery (and any other form of weight loss surgery really) is a LAST RESORT. I did it because i'm 23 and could not lose the weight EVER and I had tried for 10 years. I've been overweight my whole life and could no longer go on like this. If you can find any other (less drastic) way, then do that And to add to Missy's point: DO NOT base your decision on what you see on YouTube. there is lots of misinformation about the risks and complications, and everyone has their own agendas GOOD LUCK with your decision!!
  19. Checking in at 205 Down 2 lbs this week!!
  20. I will NEVER go over to someone and tell them to lose weight/have wls//or ever bring up their weight for that matter. Its so cruel, and people are sensitive. IF SOMEONE COMES AND ASKS ME , then I would discuss dieting and if I'm close enough with them to trust them then i'll tell them about my lapband. When I was at my highest (and still now), even if someone has the best intentions it makes me extremely uncomfortable when they bring up my weight
  21. Glad I saw this question I'm experiencing EXTREME hair loss, its so bad that I can see my scalp when in bright lights I'm beyond depressed and hope it will grow back My doc recommends zinc lozenges + biotin+ lots of Protein Hope it helps
  22. Ask all about the port/fille 1) will it show 2) can it be felt? 3) how much do fills cost
