Question..
Yes it can break a plateau, but sometimes, as much as they suck, you just gotta wait it out!

Getting "stuck"
When you're stuck you'll know it!! And in time, you'll be able to know what foods/how much/how fast you can eat without getting stuck it's a learning process. Its an awful feeling but it DOES pass. Sometimes, if i feel wretched to the point that I can't manage anymore, i'll drink a lot and when the water reaches the top of my throat it makes me throw up. I don't recommend this unless your literally in an AWFUL situation

First fill.
You are most certainly NOT a failure!! The band is made for fills!!! You're doing great!

Dr. Vafa Shayani-St. James
I just used him in August... I think I like him, but he had a bit of a "dry" sense of humor that sometimes comes across as callous. He did a great surgery though!

To Baby or NOT to Baby
I agree with the others Enjoy your new life and body. Get used to living with the band and get comfortable with the foods you can eat. The last thing you'd need is to be PB'ing throughout your pregnancy (gd forbid). You certainly shouldn't ignore your doctor's advice. Just my humble opinion

Happy 2013 Challenge!!
- playing the waiting game
Yep, the waiting is the hardest part Hope all goes well- hungry between meals
This may sound weird, but maybe instead of 3 big meals throughout the day, have 5 small meals. This works for me. I eat every three hours, but not big meals and I always eat between 1000-1200 calories per day, so I'm feeling satisfied without eating a whole lot. Don't give up on your band!! It does takes some time!- How bad is it?
I have heard of people chewing on chocolate and then spitting it out so they can get the enjoyment without the calories. Personally I wouldn't do this because I don't have the self control to chew and then spit out (and its kinda gross!) But I guess if you have to, and have the self control, then its alright But as Toddy pointed out, don't make this a habit- Have first consultation on Wednesday. Advice?
Ask about the costs of fills, and how he bills you after surgery Discuss complications Discuss who does the fills (is it him himself? or a nurse practitioner?) Ask about dietary guidelines pre-op and post-op Ask if he had a supportive practice (nutritionist, support groups etc.)- When was your first stall?
I am always stalling. Sometimes for a week, sometimes for longer It sucks!!! But I just keep thinking about how far i've come, and that gives me encouragement to keep moving forward despite the plateau's- Have you noticed...?
People barely comment on my weight loss, even now! But it took losing 40 about 40 lbs to get any comments outside my family. Also, wearing big clothing disguises out weight loss, so that may be an issue too Congrats on losing 30 lbs!- Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
Anyone carb cycling this week?- A Word of Encouragment - My Story
Wow I really love your posts!! Now I don't feel too bad that I cant run on the treadmill, only the elliptical as of now. Congrats on how far you've come!- My band baby is here!!
Omg thanks so much for this post!!! I have a band and would love to have a baby in a couple of years Your post is so full of hope! BTW, you said your port poked out during pregnancy, does it still poke out?- Why people and studies are so negative about lapband
I also use a doc near chicago, and would be happy to recommend him if you needed. I feel so bad for you that you were misinformed. Some doctors really are misleading and quite frankly shouldn't be allowed to perform weight loss surgeries because they falsely represent the facts, and this eventually hurts the patients. Hello, Hippocratic oath anyone??- Running & excess skin
whattt??? afte losing 100 lbs you have no loose skin?? Thats awesome! I wanna follow in your footsteps but I don't have access to a sauna/ice plunge I go to the gym all the time, but dont really run, i do more of the elliptical machine- 30 Days and No Meat!! I Feel Great!!
I don't really eat too much meat (no steaks and stuff) but I do like occasional barbeque foods (hot dogs, hamburgers) do you guys nix chicken too?- Bowls
Right after I went off my post-op liquid diet I was very constipated with terrible cramps. I was literally keeling over in pain. Once my body got used to solids the crazy pain stopped, but now 4 months later im still a bit constipated. I eat fiber one brownie bars, raisin bran cereal, and try to get in at LEAST 20g of fiber per day. doesn't always happen but I try- How long until you could drive again?
I was driving the next day because I was feeling fine. The only problem is when you lean forward to see in your side mirror when changing lanes, that is very painful on the incisions! so be careful about that!!!- when.could you.start.sit-ups???
My doc has no issues with me doing situps, and said i could start whenever I felt ready post-op I waited a few weeks i think, but started other exercises a week post-op - playing the waiting game
