Psychologist Appointment
For me they had me fill out a questionnaire, and he asked me a few questions mainly regarding my support system. They just wanted to make sure I had the proper support after surgery etc. Yes they can recommend that you not have the surgery, but if they deem you mentally stable with proper support you should be fine

Worried?
Am I reading your ticker correctly that you lost 49 pounds in 6 weeks??!
-
Worried?
Sounds crazy, but after 2-3 days of not going to the gym I find I lose some weight. I think it has to do with the muscles retaining water/swelling after exercise.

Hate This Sh*t
I'm in the same boat! My family thinks that after surgery my appetite cravings just magically go away! They buy pizza, chips, cookies etc etc. LOL I guess I can't blame them because why should they have to be on a diet just because I'm on one? But anyhow, after a while you eventually stop desiring this sh!tty food and it gets easier.

Bad Breath Anyone?
I have also heard it may be from ketosis if your eating high protein/low carb foods constantly. Keep breath mints/tic tacs in your purse, car, nightstand etc. so you'll have then when needed

I Might Be The Only 1 Who Feels This Way
I agree with everyone who has said you might be too tight. It can be slow and frustrating to getting to the green zone but 1) concentrate on your accomplishments! You really did go far (I'm referring to how much u lost according to your ticker) 2) Try being patient and communicating with your doc. Ideally the band should limit the AMOUNT we eat (and maybe SOME foods) but for the most part you shouldn't be having such drastic issues with eating 3) I know this sounds nuts but i learn a LOT from eating meals with skinny people. I notice that they naturally take smaller bites/chew longer/smaller portions etc etc. Eating around morbidly obese people is very discouraging for a bansdter because they have the ability to literally scarf food down or gulp it like liquids. Just picture yourself as a thin person and then try eating like one

"stuck Episode" Best Thing To Do Is....
I don't know if I was ever truly "stuck", but once I had a small bite of a croissant with eggs and started such an intense pressure above the band and felt so AWFUL! It made my mouth water like crazy and drinking didn't help (don't think it hurt though). Supremely uncomfortable feeling, but I just had to wait it out for like 10 mins until it went away.

How Do I Admit?
sounds to me like you're ready to get on track again which is excellent. As Mis73 has said, i think you should re-educate yourself on the tecnique/mechanism of the band. When you go to your doctor make it clear that you know you screwed up and would rather not be chastised. Also, explain to him that you were very dissatisfied with the NP's treatment. He needs to know that, as he should be responsible for the care his nurses distribute. (and even if she was fired, the new one may still need to be spoken to about this issue with the fills. In fact, my post-op nurse was TERRIBLE. she screamed and yelled at me because i couldn't wake up from the anesthesia right away and needed a few extra mins. I told this to my doc and he was very grateful that I informed him of this)

First Stressful Event Without Food As My Bff.
Try to train yourself to relieve stress by working out. I used to also get satisfaction by eating food. Food calmed me down too. But i'm trying to get to a place where I can feel EVEN BETTER by doing exercise and releasing those endorphins! There are many things you ca do to help yourselfr in stressful situations you just gotta find a healthy outlet!

Weight Loss Is Nonexistent, Need Nutritional Advice (About Weighing/choosing Food Etc). Any Help Is Appreciated!
Thank you for your response! Yes I did do the pre-op diet (wasn't liquid though) and I lost about 7 lbs in a week, so it actually makes a lot of sense to me that the "honeymoon" fast and easy part of the diet is over, which is why the weight slowed. I actually emailed my doc my entries of myfitnesspal.com and will see what he says about my diet/where i am making mistakes/where i can improve etc.

New Here, Looking To Get Banded In Jan. '13
If your family won't support you then maybe don't tell them? There is nothing worse than an unsupportive/uninformed family. My family is supportive but very "spaced out" they expect the weight to magically fall off. they think that my (relatively small) weight loss isn't good enough. they're nice to me, but i can sense the disappointment they're feeling. If they are uninformed/unsupportive then PLEASE get support from somewhere else. If you do choose to tell them, maybe sit them down and explain to them that this isn't magic

Weight Loss Is Nonexistent, Need Nutritional Advice (About Weighing/choosing Food Etc). Any Help Is Appreciated!
Of course it occurred to me. Which is exactly why I included an eye-rolling icon. I thought that was made very obvious/understood.... As far as my other post about members trying to play doctor, I am simply saying that when I ask about eating an 8 ounce meal/measuring those 8 ounces it is frustrating to hear other members stray from topic and compare my surgeons post-op orders to theirs. It only adds to my chagrin hearing that my doctors orders are "quite unusual". Nevertheless I am aware that everyone only means well and I appreciate that Anyhow, if anyone took offense, please accept my apologies. I certainly never intended to upset anyone

Fear Of Losing Weight And Denial
Thanks everyone for the responses I truly feel less and less alone when I hear people are going through similar things as me. I know losing weight won't solve all my probs but I am hoping that being lighter will give me the confidence I need to tackle them

Wow thats VERY little. Most people post that they're on a 1000 calorie diet and cutting carbs down to 50-100 grams per day. Kudos that you're ok on so little cals/carbs

Recovery Time???
I had my surgery on friday morning and felt so good by staurday night. I didn't need the prescription painkillers my doc gave me, and really had not much pain altogether. I was back driving/resuming most of my daily activities by monday But, you know your body better than anyone so only you can really know when your 100% better. I have also heard some people need a full 10 days to feel 100% (no gas pains etc). So just take it slow and listen to your body

Weight Loss Is Nonexistent, Need Nutritional Advice (About Weighing/choosing Food Etc). Any Help Is Appreciated!
Yes my surgeon gave me a food plan. Only liquids for the first week post-op and then after I can slowly introduce foods as I can tolerate them. Anyhow, weird thing is that I weighed myself this morning and saw I was down 2 lbs for a total of 16 lbs! The weirdest part is that it's after I kinda cheated (yesterday was a bad day for me). Thanks to all! you have offered such useful insights Thank you for your insight, but please do not try to play doctor. I am closely following my surgeons instructions and plan to continue doing so. Promise

Weight Loss Is Nonexistent, Need Nutritional Advice (About Weighing/choosing Food Etc). Any Help Is Appreciated!
As you can see, my ticker hasn't moved in a very long time. I truly am dieting and trying to stick to a plan/go to the gym but I have not been seeing any results How truly frustrating! Now i'm realizing that I MUST be doing things wrong Here's a typical day for me (bear in mind that I have no restriction yet) Breakfast: 2 low fat string cheese's or some eggs and cheese with whole grain rice cakes Snack: 10 almonds Lunch: 4 oz of turkey breast (honey smoked) with a few more ounces of a veggie (pickle) and a few rice cakes or whole wheat crackers, not totaling more than 8 ounces Dinner: (my hardest meal) Something Protein based (chicken or something) but usually with brown rice with some veggies not totaling more than 8 ounces So here are my questions: 1) should I be eating less than 8 ounce per meal? 2) I am measuring on a digital food scale until it reaches 8 ounces- is this wrong (and should I be only eating what I can literally stuff into an 8 ounce cup?) As you can see, my meals are basically protein based and very low carbs are included. I also just joined a gym and go 4 times a week and spend 30 mins on the eliptical doing cardio and 30 mins doing strength training. Some people say the "you are not losing weight because your building muscle" or your weighing yourself t night when your filled with liquids" I just don't believe them

Am I Suppose To Feel Hungry???
NORMAL!! I was starving like 3 days post op! Don't fret until you have a few fills

Dont Know If I Can Make It.
If it makes you feel any better, remember that this is the HARDEST part for most people, and day in and day out I am reading about many people in your precise position who feel like they can't survive this diet. Just watch some funny episodes for friends/arrested development/modern family etc. to get your mind off of this
