  1. Once you get a specific amount of calories allotted to you daily from your nutritionist, then go ahead and use myfitnesspal.com or lose it! and get cracking on tracking your caloric intake you should be aware that you may need a fill as for working out, if you get clearance from your doc to hit the gym you gotta go at least 3x per week. No excuses
  2. what a funny cool topic! I can't remember what my last meal was but i'm positive it was 1500+ calories blech...
  3. Good point about the fat, I never really keep tabs on that. Thanks for the heads up! How many grams of fat per day do you aim for? Hope all goes well with your birth control!!
  4. This is a great thread and I love everyone's candidness This morning I PB'd a little bit after eating bread too fast. It was rough and felt lousy but then I remembered how far i've come so far (30 lbs in 3 months) and realize how GOOD this band has been for me. Maybe I won't always feel this way, but for now, 3 months out i'm lovin it
  5. I used to be like that, but since my surgery I have been going 3-4 times per week religiously. It's hard, I know but try making a set time to go and stick with it.... On the days that I can't make it to the gym I try to be active in other ways, like taking the stairs vs the elevator or parking far away from the door of the supermarket etc. They say that once you go to the gym routinely for long enough you get to a point where if you DON'T go you feel lousy. I can't wait to get there lol
  6. +1 to everything Missy has explained Even if the band is there, AND has a small fill from the surgery, the restriction may not be noticeable yet
  7. Thanks guys! You are so sweet and encouraging! Today I got a little crazy and ate as follows: 1200 cals (don't know how i let that happen ... I try to stay closer to 1000 ) 147g of carbs. Was tough (never thought i'd say that!) but I ate a clif bar for lunch which supplied me with 30g of carbs. I'm not a fan of clif bars because they're 270 calories/bar (!!!!!) but I figured it would be good to get more carbs in.... 86g of Protein Onwards to no-carb day!!!!
  8. I also find that their recommendations seem too high for me. I just try to stay low cals and high protein on my own. BTW, once I lost some weight it "reassessed" me and allotted me less calories per day. Still seems high but I play by my own rules
  9. Thanks!! Today hasn't gone as well.... I made for breakfast a morningstar garden veggie patty on whole wheat toasted bread and i guess i ate too fast/had morning tightness/am not used to eating bread (or a combination of all of the above) and it made me sick and I pb'd a little bit I guess i'll try making better choices for lunch and beyond!
  10. Just finished logging in day #2! I ate: ~800 calories 41g of Carbs 30g of fat 69g of Protein Gonna make an early night so i don't get the munchies later and eat bad things!! Thanks mis73 and everyone else for the advice!!
  11. Omg!! 20g is so little!!! How did u survive?!?
  12. I'm on day #2 and so far I have been trying to follow it as best as possible! So far I have had 38g of carbs and don't want to eat any more for the rest of the day. Any ideas of some ultra low/no carb dinners?
  13. NICE!!! congrats on your weight loss!!! Any tips for us newbies?
  14. Its common. Sometimes it's trial and error. When you have a bad reaction to foods just don't go near them again
  15. I log my exercise because I need to see how many times per week/how many cals I burn per week from exercising. It is very encouraging to see how far I've come in terms of fitness/activity. I love it But I ignore the extra calories they add.
  16. Yeah, its a little tough especially in the beginning when your'e figuring out what foods you can tolerate but the rewards FAR outweigh the nuisances (getting stuck sometimes) I am down 30 lbs in around 3 months. I have NEVER lost weight like this before the band and i'm LOVING it!! Today I ate bread too fast and felt sickly for 10 mins following. Sure it sucked but now I know better! So far no regrets
  17. Thanks for the info Missy! And congrats on your awesome weight loss success!! I'm gonna try to carb cycle this week and post how it goes... I as well NEED to have numbers- I need to know what "low carb" and "high carb" days should consist of. Estimating has never worked and I dont have good intuition with these kinda things
  18. Sounds like your band may have slipped. I have had my band for 2.5 months and have had no acid reflux/sliming/pb'ing etc (knocking on wood) As I eat if I feel like some food is making me slightly uncomfortable I either slow down or stop eating till I feel better. My weight loss has been decent and i'm loving this so far
  19. Uch no loss this week Not sure why...
  20. Wow I feel exactly the same way. Whenever I get compliments I feel very queasy and usually don't believe it. I assume the person just complimented me to "be nice" Makes me feel awkward and also since I don't really notice my weightloss it seems untrue/not possible. I still thank the complimenter but walk away uneasily from him/her I never really give weight compliments to other people because I assume it will make them uncomfortable
  21. Some docs fill the band to various degrees during surgery so that may be why u feel some restriction in the beginning (which is great, no bandster hell!!)
  22. Hugs from chicago!! You're doing great!!
  23. It barely hurts honestly My doc didnt numb the area and it hurt less then getting a blood test. I had one fill and drove home 65 mins alone and had absolutely no issues! I don't think you'll feel light headed since your not gonna lose any blood!
  24. I love Missy's answer and agree with it all. Just to add some advice, when you start looking into Dr.'s and get names, search the name on this site. You will likely get thread(s) of information on them and you can message the members who have said they used him/her Before committing to my doctor, i did just that. I found others on this site who gave me very good advice/recommendations I'm so sorry to hear your story and your doc sounds like the pits. After hearing about True Results on here, I would never recommend that anyone use them BTW, try finding a doc who ONLY does lap bands. mine is exclusively a lap band surgeon and therefore knows THE INS AND OUTS! And he truly believes in it. He will do everything in his power to make it work and I doubt he'll say "ok give up- it's sleeve time"
