Beginning Weight And Progress
Butterfly- I was 260 post-op and I am currently 225 (2months & 3 days later). I still have alot of restriction. For example I can only eat 1 egg for Brkfast and for lunch maybe 4 sushi rolls. I try to get in 2 protein shakes a day and on a really good day i even eat 4oz of cottage chz or a Greek ygrt. For dinner it's usually the second shake or a string cheese. I try not to eat much at night. Its taken me this long to realize when to stop eating and listen to my stomach. I still sip a bit of water when I eat which you are not suppose to.

One Month Anniversary!
Today marks my one month anniversary. One month flew by!!! I've lost 30 pounds so far without any type of exercise. I can drink cold Water with ice, and I can eat anything pretty much. I was cleared for solids on Friday but I've continued to measure my food in 4oz containers. I can sleep on my stomach for a while before starts to bother me but I still have to drink water a few times a night which is annoying. Issues so far: I can't help drinking water while I eat, which fills me up quick, I keep eating after 2 to 3oz and I feel like my food gets stuck in my chest. Worst pain ever!!! It's happ a few times BUT I continue not to listen to my stomach (I need to work on this ASAP). I signed up for the GYM today and tomm I start working out after many, many years (so many I didn't even own sneakers) LOL. The plan: work out 6 days a week, maintain 3.5oz size Brkfast, lunch and dinner and (2) 4oz Protein shakes a day. My goal is to loose 20pounds by June 20th. Start weight: 260, current weight: 230.

Long Term Success / Consequences?
H21-I did research for almost 8months before I decided to get plicated. From what I've read the plication will help you loose weight but it's not G-bypass, or the sleeve. We will not loose 100 pounds without working hard. Plication is just a TOOL for us. I had my surgery April 20th and so far I've lost 30pounds w/out exercise. I started eating solids on Friday and am most def joining the gym tomm. I am scared of paying all that $$ & and not getting the results I want. With the plication, you won't have the same complications as with other bariatric options. For me it was safer and with less down time. Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Night Time Is The Hardest......
Lucyg- tennis?? That's AMAZING!!! I had my surgery 4/20 and went back to work 4/24 but def no sports yet. I can sleep on my side BUT I have to switch sides a few times during the night. I do get sharp pains when I don't sip "eat" anything, especially overnight. The "hunger" pain is so intense it wakes me up. Are you drinking enough Water? Try keeping a bottle of water with you at all times. I put crystal light or 2oz of apple juice to give it some flavor and I sip away my hunger. Lol Good luck to you and keep up the great work!!

1 Week Out!
Lucyg- my doctor said I should be drinking 24oz of Water, 2x a day 4oz of Soup, 2x a day Protein shake, and 2x 4oz coffee or tea. I take my bottle of water everywhere I go, just in case I get "hungry". Am not exactly sure if am hungry or am mentally hungry. Either way try sipping on water or make some tea for the evenings. Let me know how it goes. :)

1 Week Out!
Hey all!! Hope everyone is doing great!!! I had surgery last Friday 4/20 in Miami fl, with Dr. Sosa. My overall experience was good and besides the first two days I feel ok. Quick rewind: my prep op diet was only 2 days which scared me so I did 4 days total. I didn't keep count of what I lost before the surgery but my original weight was 260 and today 4/28 am down to 242!!! I've been on a liquid diet ever since, yesterday I was able to introduce milk (soy) and thicker Soups watered down with Water and strained. It's been very hard for me to maintain this diet because I work in a hotel/restaurant and am a vegetarian. I see food 12hours a day and top of that No Jello, no chix broth, just water, watered down juices, and today my favorite, a Soy Protein shake. My doc basically has me on the same diet as his Lap-Band patients. Clear liquids for 1week, liquids,4oz soups for week 2 and week 3 & 4 I hear it's Beans, Protein shakes, and purée veggies. sleeping is difficult Bc I seep on my side or my stomach. During the night I get sharp pains and I can barley sleep 3 hours straight. I haven't taken any pain medication, my insulin was discontinued but am still on Metformim 2x a day. He also gave me Anti-acid meds for 30days. I am seeing a Bariatric nutrionist and once my stitches and drain "hole" is closed I will start the gym. My goal is 140pounds so I have to work hard and loose as much as I can now while I have restriction. I wanted to thank everyone for their updates and words of encouragement. I feel this site really prepared for the upcoming weeks. Good luck to everyone and keep on posting.

Scared And Excited
Slwf-are you on a 10day pre-op liquid diet? My doc in Miami said I only need two days... Based on what I've read on this forum I was going for a week. Did the nutrionist give you a list of do & donts? I also recieved Vitamins and a liquid Protein that I won't take bc it's made out of animal (am a vegetarian). My doctor is well known in Miami but I feel like am entering a meat market. Cut & Go.... Not sure if am overeacting. Good luck and keep us posted

Liquids 3 Days Post Op?
@Stina: there you go!! GREAT news, keep us updated.

Liquids 3 Days Post Op?
Stina- have you called the doc? As you mention this is a expensive tool, don't take any chances... From what I've read most people can sip a few ounces the first couple of days. I would call them and maybe only drink Clear liquids for now. Am sure they will figure it out. Good luck and be positive!! KIKA

Happy One Month Anniversary To Me!
134&Happy-(Soon to be 114&Healthy) Thanks for the updates! I look forward to reading your posts and getting excited about this journey next month. Like you i am not sharing my decision with ANYONE not even my family. My only cheerleader is my husband who's keeps reminding the failure is not an option. Full throttle!! I wanted to start my pre-op diet this month but my doctor said 2 weeks out is good enough. What brand of soup are you using for emerg? Have you been sipping on soups for an entire month? Thanks again for reminding me how great I will feel soon. Good luck and stay strong!!

Getting Ready To Roll...
Sexy back- like you am also tired of not having energy, not enjoying life and most importanly not enjoying my family. Since I didn't want to explain my decision about the surgery, the only person I've told (of course) is my husband. I personally don't want to hear about taking the easy way out, or after sugary questioning me about why I haven't lost more weight... Look foward, be positive and rest assured everything will fall into place. WE have all decided to get healthy which is the most important thing. Size 10 here we come!!! Lol. Good luck!!!
