Hey Jerry, So glad you survived the accident. I am a truck driver and believe me, I have seen hundreds of accidents and the motorcyclists NEVER fair well... you are a lucky man.
I am having my surgery in Feb. also. I wont know the exact day until wednesday...
I have been on a low carb, high Protein diet for 4 months. My pre op diet is only 2 days of liquids.
Hope to see you on the losers bench.

The fact that you live with a man who treats you so poorly is disgusting.

I really would like to be able to give you a nice, peaceful resolution, but I'm just not that person. I probably would have slapped the absolute mess outta him and then I would have given him the worst cussing of his life. But what will probably be the sweetest revenge is when you get slim, and have other men salivating over you.

I don't know about my cup size or my band size, but I'm pretty sure someone let the air out and deflated mine!! I don't want bigger or smaller ones, I just want them put back where they belong-not looking at the floor!!!

I don't believe in food funerals. I had 744 calories on thanksgiving day, and I am down 2 more pounds... I find out my surgery date on Dec. 7.

I told EVERYONE (Family, friends, co workers)! There is no shame in my game. They were all excited some nervous about the surgery aspect, but no negative comments.

I prefer the Protein shakes but whatever you prefer...

I am Pre Op also and my surgeon requires that I keep a food journal. I use fitday.com to track throughout the day then I use a notebook to log my calories, fat, carbs and Protein for the day. On the website you can see your progress and identify patterns in your eating and weight loss, using graphs and pie charts etc. that really are helpful.

I had great preop success by mimicking the sleeve diet. Eating tiny portions and drinking Protein shakes/drinks. Honestly, I didn't exercise at all, still trying to work on that. I figured why not begin my new eating habits early, and i am glad I did. It made things much easier after surgery and I HAD TO eat that way. Just an idea I thought you might consider. Good luck!

May I suggest doing the low-carb high Protein diet? I never lost much weight before but I had to do the low carb (under 30 per day, and those were only for incidentals) diet for my PSWL. I've lost 32 lbs so far and it has been just about four months. I think if I had pushed the exercise and the Water it could have been more. Good luck!

I agree that everyone should decide whether they want to tell or not.
However since most of us can't maintain weight loss by cutting carbs, exercising and increasing Water intake alone, people will eventually figure out they were not told the whole truth.
I am not trying to convince anyone to tell or not or insult Autumn Lily. Each person should do whatever they want. My point here is to state that in my opinion people will know, will talk and will think they were lied to.

I was supportive and helpful and she didn't like the answers I had for her, just like she didn't like the requirements that Kaiser had for her to get surgery through them. I will not apologize for being truthful, no matter how rude you think I was, that's your problem.

I am with Kaiser too. I am jumping through all their hoops because of this exact reason !! My pcp warned me... "Do not go out of house for surgery because Kaiser will not cover any aftercare". You are still healing, so take it easy and rest. Stop trying to make everything happen at such a fast pace. Stay on full liquids for a couple weeks, then creamed Soups for a couple weeks and then pureed soft foods for a couple of weeks. Take gradual baby steps and give yourself time to heal. Remember, you had a lot of water weight after surgery, so you weighed more when you came out than when you went in... give yourself a break. you did not gain this weight over night and you will not lose it over night.

wow... "if they won't cover this surgery what good are they?" You were the one who chose to not "jump through Kaisers hoops" now you want them to give you aftercare on a surgery they did not perform. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT...

I'm not trying to make light of your concerns but there are many people who have lost their whole stomach to stomach cancer and go on to live ful, longl and healthy lives. We have only giving up a part of ours so we should also be able to live full and healthy lives. At least that was my hope when I decided to have this surgery. Remember, this is not experimental surgery. Thousands have had this done, have gone on to lose much of their excess weight, and have no regrets. Good luck:)

I too have insurance (Kaiser to be exact) and didnt want to deal with their crap so I self paid and went to Dr Ramos Kelly. Much easier than dealing with my insurance. I am thinking about canceling it and saving the $300.00 a month and use ugent care if I get sick. After paying the $300 a month I cant afford the $70. copay.
