  1. When was the last time you lost 27 lbs in 6 weeks and will be able to keep it off? Look at it as the glass is half full! You will get to goal at some point in time. Try not to over think how you are doing. You are doing great!!!
  2. Ahh sorry to hear about your insurances rule. What is your BMI at? Have you thought of self pay? I could of had my surgery covered but I would have had to wait at least 2 years to get in. So I bit the bullet and paid for it myself. Hope you find the answers from others that you are looking for.
  3. I was originally going to get the lap band, but then I was reading the complications from people and I got scared. It is great to get your story out there to help others avoid the misfortune you have had to deal with. I went on to get the sleeve as my first WLS and I thank everyone who posted a complication to scare me away from that damn lap band. You and your stomach are in my thoughts. I hope your good deed is paid forward and you can get the sleeve.
  4. I had my sleeve with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. Surgery was $8750 and I had to find my own flights to and from San Diego. They have a driver pick you up. You stay at a hotel the first night there and the expense is covered by the surgery fee. Spending money you do not need much. I spent $12 US for my awesome meal the night before surgery. And then I bought some cheap Nexium at their pharmacy. Total extra money $100 or there abouts.
  5. PCOS, hypothyroid I can not remember all that have been listed here but these two pop up a lot on the boards.
  6. I would recommend you just sip your fluids over a period of time. Your body will give you a pain feeling if you over do it. The first week out I would recommend you spend more time on getting in your fluids to keep dehydration away and not worry about the proteins until you can get in your fluids no problem. First 4 days I only concentrated on fluids after that my swelling went down fast so I was able to get my proteins in (in liquid form).
  7. Do you have any conditions that would make you be a slower loser? Your wedding is a year away and it is possible to lose your 100lbs in 6 months heck some have lost in shorter times. But to be reasonable I would say 6 months 10 months to lose your excess weight. That is if you are not a slow loser. If you stick to your surgeons/nuts post wls eating plan then I do not see why you could not reach you goal long before your wedding. Welcome to the group and keep us posted on your progress.
  8. I heard that the olive oil had to be warmed.. Humm wonder if it works
  9. I have perused her blog a million times and always salivate over her recipies! I want to make the chocolate protein muffins and the chocolate protein donuts. Mmmmm
  10. Its weird how somethings go down ok and others just sit like a lump even if they are the same kind of Protein just cooked differently. Hope you are feeling better before the end of your class.
  11. My first couple of weeks out, in the morning, I would put my gummy vitamins in a warm cup of decaf tea. They would dissolve and I would get my vitamins in tea form. Which was not so bad. The colour was weird but they just gave a sweeter taste to my tea.
  12. Coops is right the fluid thing while watching TV is great! I get in all the water I need to and I do not graze. I do have a small snack twice a day but it has to fit into my drinking schedule.
  13. I went alone but that is because I did not tell anyone before that I was getting the surgery. I didnt want any grief about it. I think most people brought someone with them. I stayed an extra night (at a hotel) so the extra day made it that much better for me to travel by myself. I am a very independent person so not having someone with me was fine for me, but may not be the case for everyone.
  14. Congratualations!!! You are looking so good.Keep up the great progress.
  15. Ok it was the drugs! I was basically out of it the first day (entire day). I was the first to get the surgery and I think I remember the doctors coming and checking on me through out the day but all I was able to manage was opening one eye and then I was out again. Too bad you were in a noisy area my room was behind/beside the nurses station. Keep on posting and if you do start a blog let us know. I really enjoy your rendition of this process.
  16. I would just say to them when they start up. Im sorry when did you become an allmighty powerful God that you have any input or say into what I do with MY body! Maybe you might want to concentrate on your own life and let me concentrate on mine. Ok maybe I am sarcastic but I get sick an tired of thes "know-it-alls" that know what you should do with your life and theirs is not perfect. Hope things settle down for you. I made a conscience decision to not tell anyone but my immediate family for these vary same reasons.
  17. I did not own a processer/bullet at the time so the quick and cheap way for me was to grate it. Now I have a bullet so I will try your way. Thanks
  18. Yes it is nice to know that we will be able to eat anything at the end of this. It will be in moderation and only time to time as I have to be aware of what I put in due to the small quantities I can take in.
  19. That was a funny NSV! And you get a new uniform as well. Keep up the great work.
  20. Wow what a difference! Looking good. Keep up the great progress.
  21. Ccongratulations!!! You are rocking your sleeve.
  22. Congratulations! Your story gives me the spriit life that I needed. I am just over a month out now and just starting to feel normal.
  23. It does get better as you get farther out. Congratulations on your success so far!
  24. Your first week do not worry about getting in your protien. What you need to worry about is getting in fluids. Just sip sip sip and when the swelling goes down then start to add protein in.
  25. First of all Congratulations! Second you will need to up your calories and get out of ketosis for the sake of the baby. That being said the baby will take their nutrients from you and you will most likely still lose weight while the baby gains weight. I would not be discouraged with your weightloss it will happen. Right now the baby needs the proper nourishment to grow. Keep us posted on your progress with the weightloss and the baby .
