  1. Read this and thought I would share. You know you are a Gastric Surgery Patient When… ü I have a date" does not mean you're going out. ü You have baby food in the house and no baby. ü "I'm a loser" is a good thing. ü All of your silverware says Gerber. ü A wooden spoon isn't just for cooking. ü "Welcome to the other side" doesn't include death. ü New clothes fall off in a week. ü You get excited ab out hand me downs. ü The scale at Wal-Mart no longer says "one at a time please". ü Going bald and getting wrinkles is a good thing. ü "Just water for me please". ü Hitting the "Century Mark" is actually a good thing. ü You can be touched by an angel and still not be considered crazy. ü When your rear end no longer looks like a mudslide. ü When you get excited that your incision was "only 4 inches". ü When the word lap has nothing to do with a strip club. ü Other women are calling you names behind your back. ü When you are glared at in the plus size department because you don't "belong there". ü When you really don't have a thing to wear. ü You have to prove you are the person on the driver’s license. ü You start being in the pictures not behind the camera. ü You want to hug everyone fat and hand them your surgeon's card. ü You are never parted from a bottle of water ü When you order a doggy bag at the same time as your meal. ü Being too small for your britches. ü When the only way your nipples are where they belong is to roll them up, position them with your bra and secure with a ponytail holder. ü When you go pick up your child at school and all the other kids say WOW you're mom is hot. ü When you go to the mall and take the first available space instead of circling 20 minutes for one closer to the door. ü You truly are a "cheap date". ü When one drink makes you flipping floozy! ü When you run to the door and don't hear a flapping sound. ü You flip your shirt to show complete strangers your scar. ü Vitamins feel like a meal. ü You go from a 56DDDD to 32AAA in a year and didn't have a breast reduction. ü You've just lost 100 lbs and run into a high school friend who asks "did you change your hair?" ü You can cross your legs... both of them ü Instead of a Wonder Bra you need a Wonder Where They Went Bra ü When your obsession from food turns to your scale. ü They no longer call 911 for the Jaws of life to extricate you from a turnstile. ü No more Velcro shoes ü Tongs are no longer to fry chicken. ü "Checking for leaks" no longer includes your panties ü When your Stairmaster is no longer used for drying your fine washables ü Your mother says "You don't eat enough" `ü When your doctor looks you in the eye and says "I know you will have success with this." ü Having sex your husband complains that your hip bones are poking him. ü You can wear corduroy pants without igniting a fire ü When you wave and your upper arms wave back ü You safety pin your underwear ü Someone phones and thinks your husband is sneaking around with some skinny mistress ü Cannot blame the cat for shedding ü Cancel your Lane Bryant Credit Card ü 3 Lean Cuisines a week and that's your total grocery purchase ü The kids wonder what happened to the cake and cookie god...did he die??? --Author(s) unknown
  2. I did have a spell where I had diarreah but I didn't consider it dumping. It did come on awful quick though. I hope this doesn't continue with you!
  3. I didn't know that sleeve patients experienced this.
  4. ‎"Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment would you capture it or just let it slip?" - Eminem Don't let your opportunity slip away! Is surgery scary? Yes. Could there be complications? Yes. But look at your quality of life now. You wouldn't be looking into surgery if you were at a healthy weight. If the good outweighs the bad, go for it!
  5. those 5 gallon jugs are HEAVY! Nice comparison!
  6. You are a real inspiration, Rootman!
  7. Also, have you yoyo dieted in the past? I know I always have gained back what I have lost, plus some. Guess what, this time, it will not be coming back if you stick with the basics!
  8. I wish I could give you a big ((hug))! That being said, I think you are doing great. I have lost 31.6 pounds since surgery. I was sleeved on June 12 so I am just over the 2 month mark. You are not too far behind me. My first thought about your hunger was: are you taking the prilosec? If not, you should! It really does help.
  9. I knew my position would be waiting for me, if there was a chance it wasn't going to be, I would have definitely went back sooner!
  10. I have a desk job, no lifting. I took a month off. I got full pay for the whole time so I took advantage of it.
  11. wow.. i could just imagine the look on your face when you saw that thing had fallen out!
  12. The X-ray is a good idea!
  13. omg.. how in the heck did that happen? My tube was so long that it would never have been able to just fall out without pulling a couple times. I can't even imagine that happening. I would SO FREAK OUT! I am glad you are ok and Dr. isn't worried.
  14. Today's stats: SW 232 CW 217.2 GW 220 I have met my goal. It is really hard for me to determine what a good goal will be. I am not sure how fast I am going to be losing now. I am going to make my new goal 210. that is 7.2 pounds.. hopefully I don't stall. SW 232 CW 217.2 GW 210
  15. Magnesium pills help for this. They have been my savior in the past, but now I need extra help. I take a Magnesium and a Doucalax almost every day and still don't go every day.
  16. My psych eval lasted less than a minute. I didn't even meet with someone. It was done over the phone. It was stupid.
  17. The bariatric advantage is the only one i've tried and it is nasty.
  18. My problem is I forget to drink. Before surgery, I would guzzle all day long. I love water! Thank God that I sill love it after surgery. So, since I forget to drink, I downloaded an interval timer and set it to beep every 5 minutes. I did this at work on Thursday and got in my water. After the first bottle (34 oz) I set the timer for every 15 minutes. I forgot to use it since Thursday though. It does work great at reminding you to sip.
  19. Ok, so I knew about the nasty drinkable shots, I thought she meant a needle shot. The ones you drink are SO DISGUSTING! It made me hurl.
  20. I hear ya! I don't think there is any pill or shot, but what a great idea! Have you tried the RTD Premier Protein? I wouldn't say it is wonderful, but it is ok. I have resorted to these because the powders make me want to vomit. They also have 30g of protein in each. I have also just learned about Power Pak pudding. It has 30g of protein in each pudding. I haven't tried them yet, but I will be getting some soon. If they are anything like the Stallone puddings from back in the day, I will like them.
  21. awesome! I was sleeved on June 12th. so we are close to same date. I was just wondering how everyone who had surgery at that time is doing. How much jabber your lost before/after surgery? I feel like I am losing slow after surgery. I have lost 52 total. I think only 27.8 since surgery though.
  22. As far as the drain goes, just bring a lanyard that you can attach to the drain and hang it around your neck when you shower. Also it is a good idea to bring a large safety pin so you can pin the lanyard to your clothes. It doesn't hurt, just annoying. It is easy coming out too. Two days is nothing! You will do fine.
