I couldn't do the puree. It made me physically sick. So I just ate very soft things and chewed until there was hardly anything left of it and I did well. Keep up the good work!

welittle1 got a reaction from sheppy33 in 7 Week Post Opt And Struggling To Eat....
I haven't had kidney stones but I'm right there with you on the eating. I have to force the Protein Shakes down just to get in the Protein I need. But I don't look forward to eating anymore either. Maybe it's because before surgery I just ate what ever and how ever much I wanted and now we can't do that, we have to be more mindful of what we put in our mouths so that we do get in the things we need. But this is the choice that I made and I am going to do what ever it takes to make it sucessful. I am tired of being over weight and not being able to do what I want not to mention that I have finally found my true love and want to be around a long time to spend with him. So keep your heads up ladies and keep trying. We can do this!!!! No one said it would be easy , just worth it.

welittle1 got a reaction from alisha29 in One Week Post-Op :d
I was sleeved on Oct. 15th. The pain you are feeling near your incision is the pulling of the stitch on the stomach. This is what my doctor told me and said it was normal. Mine is hurting less every day. I too struggle to get in my liquids and Protein but it gets a little easier every day as well. I lost 11 lbs pre op and am down a total of 23 now. It does feel great to be loosing. I will be glad when I can eat soft foods. I'm tired of Soups and pudding. Hang in there everyone and keep us all posted on how you are doing.

welittle1 reacted to valdostaGA in Hardly Any Support But Im Good!
I've made up my mind that this is about me and I'm not waisting energy worrying about support. My sister is coming with me the day of surgery she's all I got. My husband haven't had a lot to say so I don't know if he's supportive or not. He haven't shown any interest in being with me at the hospital...he's took off to be with the kids. There's so many issues there until I don't care if he's not there he saddens me:( I'm so ready for my new life! When I say new I mean brand new! I'm getting rid of the dead weight in my life so I can be happy! Its all about me getting healthy so I can live for my babies!

welittle1 reacted to BigChrisATX in Sleeved 9/17, Going Good So Far!
Thanks for all of the well wishes! I didn't have any major complications BUT something did happen that I didn't expect, hiccups. I caught them my second day in the hospital and I can tell you that was one of the worst experiences in my life! Everytime I would hiccup, it was like Tyson was taking body shots and the pain was paralyzing. I had to stay in the hospital an extra day because of those damn hiccups. Did anyone else have this issue? Other than that I'm up and moving! I'm done with Clear Liquids and have moved to full liquids, and can move to soft/pureed foods on Friday. And the good part, I'm 30lbs down from last Monday! I hope everyone else who was sleeved 9/17 is doing well!

welittle1 reacted to sfernandez2828 in My Story
Hello, my name is Sara and I have finally decided to share my VSG story. I had the VSG procedure on 12/28/2011 and I have my 9 month post op check up next week. I was 309lbs when I went to have a consultation appointment with my surgeon back in September 2011. I always considered myself as healthy except for my weight because I didn't have any comorbideties.
What really got me wanting to do something about my weight was when my husband was in a motorcycle accident (June 2011) and he was diagnosed with diabetes. While in the hospital and dealing with his diagnosis, he turned to me and said "if any one should have diabetes, it should be you, not me". He's 6'1" and weighs about 225 and I am 5'4" and I weighed 309. That comment he made was the final straw. I was finally going to do something about my weight and knew surgery was my only option because I had tried to do it on my own so many times before and failed.
I waited until he was all healed up from his accident and on my birthday (September 1) I called Dr Castro's office and set up the appointment that would ultimately change my life forever. I was was very fortunate to have such great insurance because I only had to do 3 month nutrition class before they would approve my surgery. The dr did have me also do a psychiatric evaluation, but that was all I had to do.
A week before I finished the 3 month nutrition class, my dr's office went ahead and submitted my case to my insurance and that next week they had the approval and I had my surgery date and had to go in the next day for the pre op appointment and start my pre op liquid diet.
I remember the day of the surgery like it was yesterday. I was so scared because I had never had any surgeries before and I have 4 boys and was so worried that something would go wrong and they would be left without a mother. I have never had any broken bones or anything. The dr and his team came and talked to me and got me to relax and I don't remember much after getting in the OR and them getting me situated on the operating table.
I was up and walking just 4 hours after surgery and have been moving ever since. I've lost a total of 135 lbs and my current weight is 174 lbs. I've gone from a size 26/28 to a 10/12 in just 9 short months. It has been such an amazing journey and I'm so proud of how far I've come and all the work I have done. For once in my life, I finally have some self esteem and my life is changing everyday for the better. I just got a promotion at work which has allowed me to finally afford to hire a lawyer so I can finally file for a divorce. I won't go into a lot of details, but the marriage has been very bad for a long time.
I always stayed because I never thought I could do any better. Now I finally believe I deserve to be treated better and I actually love myself enough to finally let go of all the bad stuff and do what's best for me and my boys.
I'm excited to see where I'll be at my 1 year anniversary (which is only 3 months away). I only have 34lbs.to go to reach my goal weight. The surgery saved my life in more than just my weight. It was the best decision I have ever made for myself! Sorry for the long story and thank you for taking the time to read it!

I agree with you cherrytree15, I have type 2 diabetes and insulin dependent, high blood pressure, high colesterol and sleep apnea. My legs and feet hurt all the time. I just want to be healthy and be here for many more years to enjoy the great life that I have with my husband that I waited so many years to meet. The looking good part is just the icing on the cake. I go to my information seminar March 10th so I am just getting started. I've been reading up on this for about 8 months and wish I could get it done tomorrow. I wish you and everyone here good luck. Looking forward to starting my journey.
Suzanne, you do seem to talk as though you are right here telling us your story. It's nice to have people like you here to easy our minds and give us support. Kuddo's to you!!!!

7 months post open. Came off the insulin pump 4 days post op. Dr. Appt on last Fri w/ labs. Dr. Called all numbers looked great, my new A1C was 5.0 haven't seen anything under 8 in 7 years. So happy about my Choice, 90 lbs down. Its life altering. Vitamin D low, lve always had that issue. Just happy right now, so many asks how skinny do I want to be, I say its not an image thing for, I just wanted to be more healthier, for the first time in 12 yes, I am not taking 9 different pills and hooked up to an insulin pump and sensor, but to keep me on track I keep them in plain view as a motivator. My journey is not always easy, that's reality. But I am enjoying the trip and learning something new all the time. Pre open was 260, now 170. Thanks for support from all
