Hi guys I just wanted to know if anyone has had issues with your gallbladder since surgery. I spent 12 hours in the emergency room on Saturday because I was having adnominal pain and severe burning in my chest. I thought I had a leak our blockage, but after every test in the book and blood work I was told that I have a build up of bile in my gallbladder and might have to get it removed.

I know how you feel I was 3 weeks post op yesterday and for the last four days my scale stayed the same, but this morning it show I lost like a half a pound. This is normal we will get some stalls throughout this journey it's just our bodies trying to figure out what’s going on. Don’t be mad or sad it is normal. Just think about all the weight you have lost since the begining of the process.

I am not scared, nervous, or freaking out I am ready to have it done. I have been working on this process for over 8 months and it's finally here all I can do is smile and thank god for this opportunity. My New Year resolution is going to be to get healthy and stay that way and I can actually accomplish it this year, wow.

Hi everyone I had my surgery 12/7 and I am 4 days post-op and feeling better each day. The first night after surgery was ruff because I woke up with all sorts of drains and tubes and was still under the affects of the anesthesia. I was able to get up and do one lap around my floor. I had some dry heaving and vomiting but the nurses were quick in giving me meds that stopped it. The next morning I had to get up early to drink some nasty blue substance to check for leaks in my JP tube and then I had to go to radiology for the leak study and everything was clear. After the nurses removed my catheter I was able to do two laps on my own. It took me most of the days to be able to use the bathroom but I was able to concur that to and after a few more hours I was discharged. The worst part for me has been the gas, GasX has not really helped but walking and trying to drink warm liquids have. My stomach has been making the most incredible noises and sounds I have every heard. Today the gas has not been to bad but I have been walking at least 10 minutes each hour and sipping very slowly. Yesterday is when I started my full liquid post op diet and it took me 4 hours to finish 8 oz and that was all I could handle. I sip slowly on Water in between and do feel tightness if my sip is to big. Each day the soreness is better and I have a little more strength. I know this is going to be work and take time but so far so good. I got on the scale this morning have lost 8 lbs since surgery. I hope all my other December sleevers are doing well.

I just had my surgery on Monday, so I also had to endure a Thanksgiving PotLuck at my office last week while I was on my pre-op liquid diet. Just as suggested before, I just went in and socalized as normal, talked to my co-workers, although most of them knew I was having the surgery. I just kept thinking about how it was going to be after surgery, and how many calories I was saving!! Lol You will do great! Good Luck with the rest of your week. It gets easier! Congrats on your decision.

I would recommend pulling up your big girl panties and go be social with your friends. Visit, laugh, talk to them like normal - just don't eat. If someone asks why you aren't eating, another good lie to tell them is that you are fasting today due to medical tests the next day (everyone understands prepping for certain tests - colonoscopies, for example). Deflect the questions about you with questions about how they are going to Celebrate their holdiay. People love to talk about themselves more than wonder why you are doing or not doing something.
Have a clear image in mind of something you want to do or wear when you are at your goal weight before you go be around the food. If you indulge in the food, you will be that much further from what it is you desire. Nothing you can put in your mouth will make you feel as good as being thin will. A moment of fleeting pleasure from food is nowhere near as satisfying as knocking down the barriers that stand between you and being at your goal weight.
Try to enjoy the holiday - as I few days where we focus on being thankful for the blessings we have received. There are many things I am thankful for besides being able (or not able) to eat a huge meal. You have a wonderful thing to be thankful for - you have been approved for surgery! YEA!! You have been given the key to join the "skinny" people - it just requires you to perform certain tasks - like your preop prep diet.
Hope this doesn't seem harsh - I don't mean to be. Preop is not easy - the "head" part of the preop is much harder than what you aren't eating. The "head" part after surgery is much harder than the eating part, too. Try to get a handle on being around food and not letting it bother you. The sooner you can master this, the better for your success.
    Good luck.

Hey everyone I finally got my approval from BCBS, I am doing my happy dance and smiling hard. It took 3 weeks with faxing back and forth with my surgeon’s office and the insurance company but I finally got it!!! Now I am waiting for the scheduler to call me from the doctor’s office and I am going to keep calling them until I have my surgery date.

    Hi Deb!
I think you were the one I was looking for! You had your surgery by Dr. Jawad. I am having to wait six months for my insurance to approve me. I am in my second month seeing the nutritionist there. My next appt isnt until July 27th. Do you go to the support meetings that they have there? I would like to go to one. I have been reading tons of books and info but I have tons more questions to ask!!
Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Way to go girl, you tell her. People need to learn how to do their jobs and mind their own business. She was way out of line for bringing up her weight loss and giving you advice. Would she tell a cancer patient how to cure herself naturally? People think we are overweight because we are lazy and don’t try. Which is bull, I have struggled and struggled my whole life and know how you must have felt. Good for you for sticking up for yourself.
