I agree with the other posters here it does sound like u need another fill but u do need to go back to the doctor and discuss this, sometimes self diagnosing whether we need a fill or not isnt the answer if u are having trouble losing weight .. I still get some food stuck even after all the time i have been banded and its me not the band .. i am either eating too fast, havent chewed enough or havent cut the food small enough.. The doctor is the expert so tap into his knowledge and go make that appointment

I agree switch it up a little with some weight/resistance work, i do as much cardio as i do strength .. i have really good muscle tone in legs and arms and i know this is helping burn the calories for me . ( even with my bingo wings !) Sometimes its not the amount of calories but how they are made up, so watch the carbs and fat and sugar and try increasing the metabolic foods like broccoli and chilli flakes etc also try not to eat anything late evening metabolism is slowing down by then ..
Keep plugging away at things i am sure it will start shifting eventually..

Anywhere u go to eat should have salad options available, i would take some Meal Replacement shakes with you as they are easily transported, give u the nutrition u need and will act as a fall back for u if u cant find any decent food to eat.
Take some sugar free sweet/candy with you too to stop any hunger pangs in between meals, and your Water intake is very important to keepo that up too..

    Good luck for tomorrow !
I stayed in overnight and am glad i did ... I felt fine afterwards and could have gone home but i felt i learned more from the nurses looking after me than i would have had i have left straight after. That extra bit of support really helped ..

The statistics for the band is an average weight loss of 60% of excess weight. This generally includes those who lose more than 100% of their excess weight or more (like me), those who don't lose at all, and everything in between, whether from not doing what they need to to lose weight, or from band failure.
Gastric banding surgery still is the most performed WLS in Australia, and automatically covered by most insurance companies (in that you don't have to 'qualify' aside from having a BMI of over 35 with comorbs or a family history of obesity-related disease). This is because, a lot of the time, it works to reduce weight enough to get the patient to the point of being less at risk of obesity related disease. Does it get them to a normal BMI? Not always. Can it? Sure! How much you lose, if you're working your band, and your band is working, is up to you.

what kind of music do you listen to though? When I exercise, I like angry rock music. I dunno why but it makes me cycle faster, run longer and seems to pump up the adrenalin.

No need to feel like u are being confrontational, just ask them if there is a problem with them getting through to u on the phone, maybe they are trying to avoid times u will be sleeping as u work nights you need information to make this part of the process go smoothly and tick all the boxes u have to, so be direct in what u ask without the confrontation.. That way you are taking control of your own destiny good luck !

Lucky I am so tight I can't eat bread, fries or too many chips. I can eat choclate and do for a treat but I never eat anything over 200 cals. Snacks are usually 80 cals. I have found new loves and cravings. I am far perfect but want to reach goal. I am self pay so I have to protect my investment. I track my calories when I reach a plateau. I also exercise 4-5 days/wk. Also I regularly go back to the basics and read the material from the clinic about food choices, menus & suggestions. I lost most of my weight eating 1400-1600 cals. now I am 1000-1200 cals because I have plateaued. Good luck! Tomorrow is a new day!

    found this post on internet??
    The Myth of Starvation Mode
I want to start off this post by saying that I don’t think you should starve yourself to lose weight. I think it’s unhealthy and unsustainable. You learn nothing about managing your food intake if you starve yourself. If you’ve read anything I’ve written about how I’m going about losing weight you’ll understand that. But, that being said I don’t like the idea of a group of people (dieters) collectively deluding themselves about something that doesn’t exist, to wit, starvation mode.I’ve never used the expression “to wit” before, I don’t think I ever will again.Case in point, 50 Cent.
You may have read the news story last week that 50 Cent lost 54 pounds in 9 weeks to play a cancer patient. How did he do it? He went on an all liquid diet and got on the treadmill 3 hours a day.
Shouldn’t his body have gone into “starvation mode”? Shouldn’t it have shut down and stopped burning calories? This is what many diet books and your fat aunt will tell you. But this just isn’t how things work in real life. And we know this because we can look at people who actually starved. Ever seen a picture of the holocaust? Or a guy who has been adrift at sea for a few months? Magically everyone who actually starves somehow resists the mysterious starvation mode. Was Elie Wiesel’s metabolism less than yours? Well, yes, but that’s what happens when you get down to about 70 pounds.
Here’s your basic biology lesson. Your fat is stored calories. Let’s say you need 2800 calories to function throughout the day. You can either eat your 2800 calories, or you can eat 1400 and your body can burn 1400 stored calories, or you can eat nothing and your body can burn 2800 stored calories. Your body still gets the calories, it just gets them from your stored fat. So when people say, “Don’t go under [some arbitrary number] of calories, because your body needs that just to survive.” What they’re not understanding is that your body still gets that number of calories it just gets them by burning your fat instead of the food you ate. This is all weight loss is.But starvation mode must exist, right? I mean you hear so much about it. It can’t all be bulls**t, can it?Well, kind of.Let’s clarify some things.
Yes, eating will raise your metabolism. But it doesn’t ever raise it enough to make up for the influx of calories you take in by eating.
Yes, your metabolism will lower as you lose weight. But that’s just how things work. It takes a lot less gas to move a Mini-Cooper 100 miles than it does to move a Hummer 100 miles. Your metabolic rate is, essentially, how much “fuel” you need to get you through the day. So,of course, it’s going to decrease as you get smaller.
Yes, starvation mode exists. But it’s not something that happens to you as you try to lose weight. Starvation mode is what your body goes into once all the fat is burned. It’s your body using your muscle and internal organs for fuel because it doesn’t have anything else to use. You can’t be fat and in starvation mode. It’s like saying, “I have a lot of expendable income. And I’m bankrupt.”
Listen, I’m not a doctor… or am I? (I’m not.) But I’m completely capable of reading the scientific studies about calorie reduction and metabolism and I can’t find a study that shows anything about the existence of “starvation mode” as people use the term in the dieting industry.Again, I’m not suggesting you starve yourself thin. You’ll deprive yourself of nutrients to keep you healthy and you’ll likely feel like sh** too. But I’m against the idea of perpetrating the myth of starvation mode because it needlessly complicates the issue of losing weight, and people are confused enough already.

Cazzy got a reaction from Bandedboomer in Who Was Banded 1 Year Ago? How Are You Doing Today?
I have done really well but i am very strict with myself, the hunger isnt from needing food it comes from wanting it, If i am hungry i make a cup of tea or a weak coffee with sweetners and that will last me, i try not to snack but lately the hunger is creeping back in even tho i am getting stuck a lot more often like kiskis said u do worry about a band slip. If i do have a bad day and cant resist some 0% greek yoghurt or some cottage cheese i just burn it off by doing more exercise .. i eat Soup before my main meal always and that makes the dinner feel far more satisfying as the soup helps u feel full ..
Might be an idea to keep busy and try not to even think of food .. There are people who the band just doesnt give them the restriction they need .. maybe you are one of those.. what does your surgeon say ? Have they checked the band for a slow leak ?
We are so afraid of actually feeling hungry that we often try not to feel it, that leads us to overeat, snack and graze.. its like always having to cry when u feel sad, we dont do we, so why do we eat just because we feel hungry.. maybe a counsellor can help you with the head hunger at least good luck !

I would probably continue with the supervised dieting while you still have insurance, as well as getting any necessary tests done before your coverage ends. This way you can learn some good tips and also keep your out of pocket to a minimum.

I know in Australia, generally speaking, the one rule we have is 'don't drink your calories'. We don't do Protein shakes. I don't do Protein Shakes.
You should be able to get enough Protein with the solids you eat. When I was losing, there were days where I was tight, but I didn't supplement my protein with shakes. I didn't put in any more than my band allowed me to in solids. If I was hungry, I ate more solid foods and did not drink my food.

I'm not banded yet so I can't say I know how you feel, but don't give up. Remember, it can be repaired! I know it feels like a setback, but don't let it discourage you too much. Recently I heard a man say something along the lines of, "You're not defeated when you fall down, you're only defeated if you don't get back up."
Sending you love and hugs and prayers!

I would also say that its not really jealousy but fear and insecurity. I am sure after things return to routine and time elapses that it will improve and things will settle down again. It may also be that there is some element of protectiveness there from him, thinner people tend to appear more vulnerable and he may feel like he has to protect you more now, hence the stepping in front of you ... It might be an idea to show him that he is still the one in the same ways he does for you, dont just reply to texts send him ones yourself. I am not saying send him flowers but find something he would like and make a thank you gift for all his support. Notes in his pockets that he finds when he is at work, etc etc.. Its not just a case of reassurance but also making him feel as special as u do now that u have lost the weight..
I am sure things will work out and settle down. Good luck !

Seems like u are in great need of a fill which will probably help you a lot. Might be an idea to go back to basics and start off with some liquids then mushies and back to small portion foods. This is going to be hard without a fill tho. The band is there to help you but u need to help the band do its job too, and that means maintaining it. After all a car wont run without gas will it
    Good luck

I was self paid as well and it IS worth every dollar. But I agree with all the above posters. The band is just a tool, it still takes work for most people. Some people say they are never hungry, don't care about food anymore. Well, that hasn't happened for me. But I have been successful following the rules for the most part. Got a little side tracked though the last few weeks but I am ready to take it on today! Already got a 3 mile walk and jog in to start the week, I am feeling good!

We have to learn to be our own patient advocates and so what if doctors and nurses get exasperated with our endless questions, this is us we are talking about! If you are not happy with what Doctor says, let him know your concerns. Doctors are not Gods and they don't know everything although some seem to think they do. I consider myself very lucky that my private doctor will give out his home number to his patients. I've only used it maybe 1-2 myself. But knowing I have it available is a comfort in itself. My lapband dr, I can email his office staff and get response in minutes.
I agree armymom, these days an operation where you would have been laid up in bed they try and having you walking around the next day! I'm in awe sometimes of the things they can replace on a body these days, (but the pain will always be the same)

Cazzy got a reaction from 123crod in To Those Of You Who Say You Don't Have Time For Exercise...
I must admit i wasnt expecting this thread to develop the way it has. I do agree with cheri humming birds posts have been supportive and helpful to a lot of people here.
We have to accept that people will deal with being banded in different ways, some will manage to eat smaller portions and lose weight some wont, some will need to exercise some wont.
Initially I saw this thread as some what motivational, trying to get those struggling to lose the weight moving around and doing something positive to try and get the weight off, but it sort of developed into more of a crusade. Ultimately its a personal choice how we deal with losing weight and I respect everyone for their differences.
I do support trying exercise for those struggling to lose weight, and i know that i would not have done so well without it, but equally if you can lose weight and not have to spend hours doing endless reps then all cudos to you too. I was soo unfit when i started this journey i HAD to exercise, did i want to .. well no not really, but it worked for me and that is where i coming from, if what you are doing works then do it .. simple, if it doesnt work then change something .....
