  1. I am in Long Island as well. My Doctor was in Riverhead.
  2. Thanks, Karla. I'm not 'worried' about it. I was just curious. I am on full liquids, which includes things like yogurts.. which DO fill me up. I guess what I was asking.. (and I think you answered it)... was if, (obviously once everything is settled and healed) the 'fullness' you feel resembled a natural 'fullness' which would be in the belly. Thank you for your help.
  3. Ok, so I was just banded on Wednesday (May 16). I'm finally starting to feel like something OTHER than someone who's just had surgery. I am eating (full liquids) regularly. My question is... Right now, feeling 'full' to me is a tightness in my chest.. well, my esophagus. Does this eventually change to a more natural feeling of fullness.. does it ever feel like you are full in your tummy?? Or will it always be a discomfort a little higher up?? Does that make sense??
  4. Congratulations!!!! Keep up the good work!
  5. Try drinking something hot or warm. Bigelow makes a decaf French vanilla tea.. It's very yummy!!! Best wishes. PS- Or try drinking something very cold. Freeze a bottle of Water, or crystal light... honestly, even a hawaiin punch or something.. drink it as it defrosts.
  6. Also.. try moving a little more. Excercise can DEFINATELY get that scale moving!! You're doing great.
  7. I was banded Wednesday. I had really bad dizziness over the weekend (when I didn't have much Thur or Friday)... Today I feel better.. but still get a little dizzy after standing for too long. I'm pretty sure I'm dehydrated. Tonight I'm Freezing a few spring water bottles... I'll drink them as they defrost, hopefully that will keep me hydrated. It will get better :-)
  8. Ok, right now the Actitrainer can NOT be worn under Water (althought it IS water resistant). They are working on a new neoprene casing... but I don't think that would be water proof either. They are constantly evolving the software, and although there is not currently a feature that asks what you were doing when you weren't wearing it... it may be available in the future. So... to answer your question.. you can't wear it while swimming :-(
  9. I have the actitrainer and LOVE it.. However, the 'novelty' of it wore off for me after about two weeks. I want to start using it again now... BUT it involves wearing a chest strap, and since I just had my lap band surgery, I have some tenderness and scars along wear the strap goes.. I think I'll be without it for a few weeks.
  10. Cannot LIVE without my Tivo, Oil of Olay body ribbons body wash, Oil Of Olay Total Effects Moisturizer, my blender..and now.. My lbt board :-)
  11. Hey Eddie.. I'm getting banded on Wednesday too!! I'll be thinking of you.. our doc requires a 2 night stay.... So, I'll be back online Friday. Best of luck!!!
  12. Thank you Mazie.. Pain free.. ahhh that would be sooooo nice. I don't like pain much.
  13. Hi everyone!! Great thread... I'm a former 'hag' from New York.. all my 'boys' found partners and moved away... so now I'm just a straight minivan drivin' mommy. Ahh.. I miss the glamour of the hag-days. Anyway... goodluck to ALL of you!!! I'm on the pre-op diet right now.. 4 days to go!
  14. Anyone got any creative clear liquid...er..'recipes'??? Or something other than juice, broth or italian ice???
  15. Oooh.. August Band Crew.. Thanks :-)
  16. Cute... I was thinkin' that too... Maybe that's her point?? :-) Maybe it's Italian Wedding soup with Metballs... that you could eat with a fork... :-)
  17. Um... Already Banded Club? Ample Bottoms Club (probably not :-) ??
  18. hey.. can I ask you guys.. What is ABC???
  19. Oh goodness.. I hadn't thought about that. Will I need bigger clothing post-op?? I've been getting rid of stuff that I thought was going to be too big.. Maybe I should buy some sundresses or stuff?? Did anyone out there need bigger clothing post op due to swelling??
  20. Msakire.. There is a bariatric center in Patchogue.. try http://www.peconicbaymedicalcenter.org/bariatric/barspecsearch.htm . They take the patient, and EVERYTHING from the psych to the upper gi scan is all covered by the center as one package... if they take GHI, they'll take it for all... I'm assuming you live in Nassau since you're having surgery in Syosset.. BUT you can try Stony Brook Hospital... they have psychologists that will treat most anyone, and take just about any insurance.. there's also Opti Healthcare in Riverhead, they have a counseling department that would cover it.... But I think your best bet is to contact GHI and see who they recommend... $375 is alot of money.... BUT if it means you're on your way to the healthy new you... it's worth every penny. Many people on this site are self pay.. and don't regret a buck they spent. Good luck, I hear Dr. Geiss is excellent.
  21. Thank you Alex. ..and thanks for bringing the journal button back!!
  22. Ivy... I think you are making the right choice, and you will find that most people on thise board (myself included) have many (if not all) of the feelings that you have. If I've learned anything from this group ... it's that the band is a tool.. and YOU have to be committed to do what it takes to lose weight. Good luck with everything!
  23. I agree with Marimaru... and honestly, I would start looking for another surgeon anyhow... even if it means travelling a bit. You're going to have a lifetime relationship with these people.. they should be the kind of people you WANT to have around. Good luck with everything!
  24. Where are you located?? There's a really good bariatric unit in Peconic Bay Medical Center.
  25. I have BCBS.. they too required 6 month supervised diet... (Which, by the way FLEW by)... As long as you check in with the doc (your primary physician is fine) once a month... they consider that a supervised diet.... Maybe Cigna is different though. BCBS let me do weightwatchers, and check in with my surgeon once a month. Good Luck!!
