HOW MUCH WEIGHT DID U LOSE BEFORE VSG?
makes much sense! my nutritionist wanted me to cut out soda & i think after cutting soda & juices out & adding Water & exercises but not cutting food, i think ill be down about 5lbs a month. at the end of 6 months, thats 30lbs. do you feel thats reasonable? or is even that too much?

HOW MUCH WEIGHT DID U LOSE BEFORE VSG?
i visited with my primary dr today & i was advised by him not to lose any weight because my insurance will not approve me if i do. now im confused.. lol. do i try & lose the weight or do i just keep eating as ive been eating but just take in smaller portions so that if i do lose weight, itll be very minimal?

HOW MUCH WEIGHT DID U LOSE BEFORE VSG?
my nutritionist is putting me on a 6month diet before approving me for the sleeve. my question is, how much weight did you guys lose & in how many months? she didnt give me a goal weight to lose.

1st step.. i cant believe it.
so im jaz. i met with a nurse practioner and nutrtionist today. the FIRST thing my nurse practioner said was, "well a good thing is, your insurance JUST started covering vsg!" i LITERALLY bursted into tears. it was my biggest fear that my insurance wouldnt cover the sleeve. it caught her off guard and i was almost embarrassed until she seemed like she was going to cry with me. so after talking, she agreed that the sleeve is the best option for me. she also said i meet the qualifications. so now, the 6month process begins for me. i have to meet with the nutrtionist 5 more times since i need to be on a supervised diet. i need to meet with a: •cardiologist for my heart for those of you that dont know. •gastroenterologist for an upper gi in which they put you to sleep and stick a tube down your throat to look at your tummy. •psychiatrist. i have to get a psych eval. now some people say you have to pay for this out of pocket but not necessarily! find a psychologist or psychiatrist that accepts your insurance. i needed a chest xray which i did today. i need blood work which im doing tomorrow & i need a sleep study in which they will be calling me for. i do not need an ultra sound for my gall bladder because i had it removed already & i do not need a pulmonary clearance (which i dont know what it is lol) i just wanted to share my exciting news with everyone! so far, ive completed 4 steps

INSURANCE! if u dont mind responding
i wanted to start a thread about insurance. it would be greatly appreciated to all pre-op patients if we all had an idea of what insurance you have and if they denied you or approved you. also, what were the requirements made by your insurance company because some are different. i have 1199SEIU affiliated with aetna. ive read stories about aetna approving so im assuming mine would too but i wont know until i talk to my surgeon. i called my insurance company & the lady gave me the run around & couldnt say, "YES, WE COVER VSG!" or "NO, WE DONT COVER VSG!" so its a dreadful waiting game. thank you to all the people who respond. us pre-op'ers definitely appreciate it. <3

did you tell people about thinking/having vsg?
nicely put. im not sure of your age but i know at my age (22), people tend to be a lot more cruel. i think the part that made me decide to keep it a secret from most ppl is the fact that i dont so much care for ppl saying, "wow, she lost a lot of weight. the WLS really helped her." but i can see people snickering and making fun that i had to go as far as WLS to lose weight & keeep it off. its unfortunate that people in my family are so cruel but i guess its something i cant change.

did you tell people about thinking/having vsg?
thank you very much! i meet with a nurse practioner, nutritionist & go to a seminar all on july 5th. im very anxious & excited. i know this is the surgery for me & with Gods help, ill get approved thru my insurance. i know for a fact i qualify for it. its more of a matter if they cover vsg. im praying! i was completely agaist weight loss surgery until about 2-3 weeks ago when i went to babysit for my employer (im a nanny & cake designer) & i saw her. i knew she had been dieting (which turned out to be the pre-op diet) and she had went from a size 22 to a 14 in 6 weeks. after that, i was maybe 10-15% on board with the sleeve. after doing HOURS and spending days researching, i became 95% on board. now, im 1billion% on board & cant wait for my lucky day!

did you tell people about thinking/having vsg?
very well put! ive had both my tonsils & gall bladder removed & im getting my wisdom teeth removed next week! haha. i guess im so used to being over weight and people OPENLY commenting on it. the one comment that SERIOUSLY gets under my skin is, "omg!!! i didnt know you were pregnant!! congrats." its a double slap in the face for me since im not & i have pcos (irregular periods, very difficult to get preggo) due to weight gain. it makes me so depressed & 10 times more embarrassed than any other comment. then they used to do it in front of my bodybuilder boyfriend who wanted kids! i felt embarrassed and like a complete FAILURE!!!!!

did you tell people about thinking/having vsg?

did you tell people about thinking/having vsg?
just today, i was anxious to open up to my aunt who is by far the most negative person in the world but as quick as i was about to tell her is as quick as i changed my mind. i may as well go on my local news channel & broadcast it myself.

did you tell people about thinking/having vsg?
well put.

did you tell people about thinking/having vsg?
see, that right there is why i wouldnt want to tell many people! i can hear my distant family members saying, "oh my god, jasmin lost so much weight!" and then another person saying, "dont be fooled, she had WLS! thats the only reason!" negative things like that make me want to keep it to myself.
