Hair Etiquette: PG-13
I'm gonna trim the hedges but not shaving. I tend to get ingrown hairs/folliculitis and don't want to risk infection if my body is busy recovering from surgery. I mean it's really not that bad anyway, seriously. @Michelle, I am LMAO!!! I have OCD too so I loved your post...

Newbie from VA
I live in Northern Virginia too! Getting banded July 5 at Fair Oaks Hospital by Dr. Moazzez (Bluepoint Surgical Group).

Period during surgery
Hey if you can't laugh about unsexy mesh panties and phone book sized maxi pads, what can you laugh about? I am looking forward to that time of the month being over by Tuesday. I have enough things I wish I could hide (count the rolls).

Period during surgery
The hospital will have the aforementioned mesh panties and HUGE pad that they throw on you after childbirth. You'll never feel sexier. LOL

Any July 2011 Bandsters?
Yeah, realized yesterday that my horrid cravings had the same explanation a Lizzy... Thank goodness. Looked at scale this morning and found I have lost another pound. Give it another day and it may be one more! I had to do my last pre-op BS this morning and now I am officially ready for surgery. On the down side, I see now why I'm gonna need a touch-up on my tummy tuck. Hope our June 30 banders are doing well!

Things I am not going miss
I will not miss the snidey comments about my back fat rolls. I will not miss the side rolls. I will not miss my thighs jiggling. I will not miss feeling hungry all the time.

Any July 2011 Bandsters?
I had 3 days of massive pigouts and carb gorging. Then it was like a switch went off - this is how I got heavy! But I had to have food poisoning and crazy heartburn to drive the point home. This is day 3 of my good diet again and I do feel better. Each meal is a major struggle though. I want to get rice, fries, Pasta, chips, and lots of bread. It is sometimes quite hard for me to overcome the temptation and I've had some carbs. I'm seeing more and more that this battle is more in my head than in my stomach. Veggies and salad and grilled lean meat ARE satisfying but my silly head still believes that I need mega yummy carbs at meals. Anyone else mourning loss of Outback cheesy fries, bread and honey butter? Hope I can have again one day. Thank u for letting me vent!

Any July 2011 Bandsters?
I did great with my low carb diet today. I'm freakin proud! Didn't think I was going to make it. Had craving for cheeessssyyy fries w bacon from outback. Instead, got steamed broccoli and a salad. I rule! Oh, and I chugged muscle milk and still hating the aftertaste. Unjury tomorrow, without a doubt.

My Pre-Op Bag
Have two checklists (I LOVE checklists): 1) drivers license, insurance card, pillow! 2) toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, incentive spirometer, fuzzy socks, robe I am hoping not to need checklist 2 because I want to sleep at home!

Chicken poop
You are not the first person to rethink this. It is a big decision. My moment of truth was hearing about statins, baby aspirin and heart disease one month after my 30th birthday. Your moment, if it meant to be, will be enough for you to overcome your fear.

Any 30 - 34 BMIs

Any July 2011 Bandsters?
I'm back on the good pre-op diet after my last three days of last suppers. I was BAD. I haven't lost or gained any weight so I guess that it was a neutral experience from that perspective. I'm sure my liver hates me. I bought muscle milk last night and my unjury samples arrived yesterday. So since I've lost the weight my doctor wanted me to, I'm going to do a lower carb diet with 2 protein shakes per day. That should work.

What are you looking forward to?
Then you must post what you want to do! Dream (small?)! I want to kill my glucose monitor with a hammer! And wear non-stretch jeans without a muffin top! And get a bra-line back lift! Have to come up with 10K for that, but I'm dreaming big (or is it small?)! LOL. Let's all do what we haven't done before or what we never thought we would do again. Kate

If you want to make a scene, buzz a design into it! LOL. Maybe I will do! Give them something to talk about.

Any July 2011 Bandsters?
For those of us who are keeping surgery quiet, do you plan to tell people if they ask you directly? Or tell people once you feel you are successful? I don't think I should lie if asked... What do you think?

Treating myself
Freshen up highlights. Nails done, of course. Maybe a massage at Elizabeth Arden.

Pre-surgical tests..???
Sleep study, psych exam, clearance from primary care, EKG, endoscopy, ultrasound, blood work, urinalysis, upper GI and chest x-ray. Luckily ultrasound and endoscopy were already done within last 30 days.

Any July 2011 Bandsters?
I'm doing My Lap Band Journey through lapband.com. it is pretty cool because it tracks your weight, inches, allows you to upload photos of yourself for each date you enter weight and shows it on a graph. Also creates a ticker for your page with goal weight, bmi, pounds lost, pounds until goal, etc. You can write yourself letters for the future. I have one for Sept of 2011 and May 2012. Lots of recipes and videos too. http://lowbmilapbandjourney.blogspot.com/?m=1 My blog on this whole journey.

Hair Etiquette: PG-13
I'm gonna trim the hedges but don't shave because you don't want to introduce staph just in case. Makes me wish I followed through on laser hair removal.

Any July 2011 Bandsters?
I totally bombed my diet today when I took my kids out for lunch. Probably consumed entire day's calories, two days of fat, and a week of carbs. Guess it is grilled chicken for next two days. I think I got cocky when I saw my weight on scale this morning. Bad Kate!
