Everyone is different with their weight loss. Typically people that have more weight to lose will lose a considerable amount more in the first 6-12 months post op. I find that I am a slow loser and I do exercise 4-5 times a week. I lost about 25 lbs in the first month post op and then the weight loss slowed down and I started losing 3-5 lbs a month. I sometimes got upset seeing everyone else that was losing 60 lbs in 3 months and wasn't exercising and it took me about 7 months to lose 60 lbs and I was working my tail off in the gym. I have learned that I cannot compare myself to anyone else. What is most important is that I feel amazing and healthier than I ever have. I used to weigh in every single day where as now I may weight in once a week. It doesn't matter what the scale says as long as I feel good. If I keep up with my workout routine as I have been, I know I will hit goal. Even if it takes me 2 years to get there :-)

Had my surgery 1/31 and I hit my stall at 2-2 1/2 weeks and it lasted for 3 weeks and I dropped two pounds and like u my clothes were/are getting looser. Don't let the scale dictate your journey--focus on the positives! I hate when I read that but it's SO true. I've been much happier since I've focused on NSVs. You're strong and you're doing fine. enjoy the journey!!

Are you just not dropping pounds? You should be looking at other things besides the scale. Take your measurements and see if you're losing inches. Are you able to do more than you could before? How is your energy level? Are you drinking enough Water? Our bodies will stop losing pounds while they adjust our measurements, or if we aren't drinking enough Water. Muscle truly weighs more than fat, and, since you're exercising, you may be developing muscle. That's a great thing!
Are your clothes looser? I walked out of my first size during a "stall". This last month has been so slow on loss, but I have literally watched my body adjust itself. I now have bicep and thigh muscles and I have the beginnings of a waist! I also lost three pants sizes last month!
Don't let the scale rule your life. Use the other NSVs (non scale victories) to tell you if you are truly in a stall or if your body is just doing some internal housekeeping.

Oh yeah. Forgot about this goal of weighing less than the old man. I am almost at onederland, almost at 50 pounds gone and I have my Easter goal of 186. I think my husband weighs 188. He's 5'11" and not an ounce of fat on him.

Ok so I started exercising last night, I have a trainer and all. Now this morning when I went to the gym. I had packed my gym bag with some size 16 jean Capri pants that didn't fit me until last week. So after my workout I went to go shower and saw what clothes i packed myself. I freaked out. I kept thinking to myself as I showered OH my god what if the pants don't fit me? What if when I wore then the week before it was a fluke and now that I washed then again maybe the drier shrank them. I literally tortured myself for until it was time to get the pants on. Guess what they still fit and they were actually looser. I can't believe I tortured myself mentally like that. I guess I still can't believe that I am sleeved and its working

working out causes muscle gain which replaces the fat that you lose. muscles weigh more than fat. don't get down on yourself. focus on inches and how your clothes are fitting. don't let that scale define your progress. that has been my motto this entire journey. keep doing what you are doing! 32 pounds is fantastic! i think you are doing an awesome job. put your before picture next to a picture of you today and look at the change. i bet it will amaze you! I had to do that today because i felt like i wasn't getting anywhere.i know 57 pounds is a lot but i couldn't see it. visuals help. think positive and be proud. you're doing great!

Ok so my surgery was January 31, 2012 in the first two and half weeks I lost 32 pounds and have been stalled for 2 weeksish. This has caused me to be so bummed. Even through reading posts about it being normal, and doing everything right: I'm still obsessed with the scale and bummed. My NUT said I already started out with a dramatic weight loss and I'll start to equal out and lose 10 pounds a month, conservatively.
However I am trying to focus on the positive. Therefore I am posting my first NSV:
    I HAVE A NECK!!
In my wedding pictures I was at my highest weight (still had an amazing wedding). However the one thing I noticed was my head looked like it sat on my shoulders. Yuck. Last night I went out with some friends and after being tagged on Facebook (I usually dreaded) I was happy with most of the pictures and noticed my neck (:
I also posted two pictures in my gallery and can see a little difference there as well.
Here's to more NSVs and a healthy journey! Have a fabulous Sunday, sleevettes!

I also see a dramatic difference in you in the photos...I remember when I started to see a difference in the pictures people took of me. Enjoy the ride. If you are doing all the right things(and it sounds like you are) then your scale will move...when mine slowed down I always noticed a big diffenerence in the changes is clothes or in the mirrior.

I would go to my GP in the morning and to the ER if you symptoms get worse. It could be any number of things and many which may not have anything to do with your WLS. I would definitely check it out to make sure.

    Dear thinoneday
About pictures. Please, please take them, for your family and with your family and when you do put on a great big smile. Here is why, although my daughter had had bypass surgery she was still not camera friendly, especially once she started gaining a little back and having a problem with the ulcers she did not know she had. I told her one day that she should stop being afraid of the camera, that if (God forbid) something were to happen to her, her kids would not have any photos of her with them or doing things with the family. That was about November, she actually listened and we have some of the best photos of her with the biggest smiles ever from that day on. She died the following January. We treasure those photos, regardless of her size or what she had on or anything. Her youngest son (who was 7 when she died) loves to go through them and talk about them and his mom. So, please reconsider and stand proudly and lovingly in from of that camera and smile !
Great job on the weight loss !

By day 37, I too was allowed to be on soft regular food. I still adore rotisserie chicken. Something about the roasting process makes it easier to chew and swallow. If you're really worried, you can always puree it while you're working to transition to other solid foods. Sometimes canned meats are easier to handle on the soft food stages. Before you know it, you'll be eating regular food again, just in tiny amounts!

Cheetos are my top slider. IF I buy them, I buy a "single serving" size and TRY to make them last for a few days. I learned the hard way that I cannot have a bigger bag in the house, because they sit in the pantry and mock me. Nothing else does that but baked cheetos.
I guess it could be worse. Before surgery it was any sweet food. 4 months without that craving was wonderful and helped me get to where I can have a few bites of a sweet and I'm fine. I can even throw away a half-eaten candy bar without a twinge of anxiety now! That would have NEVER happened pre-op!
