Time for a status update:
Yesterday marked my one year anniversary on Bariatricpal.com. What a year it has been and I am so grateful for all the people here that have helped me along the way. I'm also so grateful for @Alex Brecher for creating and maintaining this site for all of us. I hope that my ongoing purchases of calcium and multivitamin supplements are enough to express my gratitude. I'm a huge fan of the BariatricPal Multivitamin One 45.
I kept a journal starting in July of last year starting the 2nd day after I was serious about considering bariatric surgery. Reading all the entries is very therapeutic to me.
Looking back, I probably wouldn't have changed a thing about how I started and went through this process. Almost everything has gone well in this journey for me. Sure I've had my low points, but I seemed to have come out the other side very much in-tact.
There's still a long road ahead once my real hunger returns, but I'm going to keep on the straight and narrow path of eating well and exercising every day until that happens and then some.
In celebration of my 1 year on this site, I thought I'd share one of my early personal journal entries:
Quote8/7/18 - I signed up to the BariatricPal.com website yesterday to find support from people in the same situation and to see what they are all going through in the process.
Looks like I'll be doing this for months after all before even thinking about surgery.
Sounds like I have to change my habits sooner than later, was not expecting that.
Yesterday I stopped for the large pouch of Baby Bels at Target and this morning I got my two scrapple sandwiches again. I could not be more disgusted about it. So over this…
WTF???? I just ate more M&Ms and knowingly did so.
This has to stop now!!!! That's it, we're having vegan for dinner tonight.

It looks like a ton of forums were merged or moved. It makes it kind of difficult to see what is going on.

Boy has it been a long time since I visited this site! A lot has happened since my surgery date. My frequency of use prior to surgery was all thanks to a pretty meaningless desk job that I was laid off of as of December 1. In the meantime, I have dealt with the triumphs and struggles of recovering from surgery, learning my new stomach and body, and trying to find another full time job.
Just in case anyone is actually interested in my progress, here it is! This week is my seventh week since surgery. HW: 310, SW: 280.1, CW: 254.9 NSVs: My back fat doesn't rub together while I walk. I can no longer fit my size 24 skinny jeans, as they have turned out to be more like size 24 baggy jeans. I have never been more hydrated in my life. I am able to walk up a flight of stairs without wheezing. I can workout for longer without needing an inhaler. I have lost countless inches all over my body. I fit into clothes from my honeymoon in July of 2015 better now than I did then.
Getting exercise is, and always will be, a work in progress. Taking my medicines religiously leaves a bit to be desired.
If anyone is interested in a more in depth description of my recovery, please let me know! Hope everyone is well!

Hello, I'm new to the site. Decided to join after reading a very informative article that was posted on Facebook about slider foods. I was not taught this prior to my surgery by the nutritionist, I have been referred to a new one on next Wednesday for Diabetes and my Gastric Sleeve. I'm going back and forth with gaining and loosing in a particular pound area and I'm getting discouraged, so I hope the nutritionist can help me.I am one year, 2 months and 15 days post surgery and nowhere near where I want to be...but now I know why...slider foods. I will learn as much about slider foods as I can so I know what to stay away from...wish me luck guys.

Ugh, last night wasn't a bad dream after all. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Well, at least now I can't eat over it.

I wish California had a less idiotic government. I'd love the climate, most of the people, but the nanny state drives me nuts. But it was great visiting again.

I'm moving to Australia. All the fun people live there. You know, the kind with a sense of humor?

Today is my one year surgeversary! I couldn't be happier with how far I've come. My surgeon feels I've hit my goal. I'm happy where I am at size-wise (minus the excess belly flab) and still dream of getting to 148 pounds. Today was rock out the skinny Old Navy size 10 coated jeans and a new cold shoulders top. Felt soooo dang cute!
