Peppermint is supposed to be helpful for nausea, you could try sucking on a sugar free peppermint disk or adding a few drops of peppermint extract to warm water . Good luck!

My surgery is May 19th at Pacific Bariatric in San Diego California!

My wait time with Kaiser in Southern California has been 16 months start to finish. I started the process in January 2010 and my surgery is scheduled for May 2011. I'm kind of glad that they didn't tell me how long the process would be start to finish last January because I would have cried. Now I'm just thrilled that my surgery date is almost here!

I remember reading a story on here of a woman who was pregnant during surgery but didn't find out until afterwards. From what I remember everything was fine with both the surgery and the baby.

You are not the only one at all! I got my surgery date of May 19 in January...having to wait 4 months has been awful. I find that I am going through waves, some weeks I do fantastic and lose a couple of pounds and other weeks I find myself going out to eat a lot and I notice other old, bad habits creeping back in. I had a very rough patch a couple of weeks ago - the week the girl scouts came around - and I gained about 8 lbs. Fortunately I'm now back on the bandwagon and have lost 6 pounds. I have two and a half months to surgery and my goal is to lose 16 more. Looking at this website daily, drinking my protein shakes, and avoiding eating between meals will be god sends for me.

The BSN website only has the big tubs of the lean dessert. It's 30.95 on their website, I read in another post somewhere that you can sometimes call the manufacturer to get samples of the product...it's worth a shot!

There is a "Biggest Loser" scale that goes up to 450 lbs. I got mine at Kohl's I think.

I was just looking on unjury's website and they have a great starter pack for $17.95. You get 2 packets of each flavor (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, chicken soup, and unflavored), along with a shaker and a thermometer. Looks like a good deal to me. Also, BJ's Bariatrics (www.bjsbariatrics.com) has the Syntrax nectar Sample Pack for $14.95 and you can choose which flavors that you want. Alot of the other websites that have the sample pack send you one of each flavor or don't give you a choice of flavors.

I was told to let the coffee cool to room temperature, then mix in the protein and microwave it in 30 sec. intervals until it's hot. The friend who told me said that if you put it in hot coffee it turns into sludge.

I wish you the best for a speedy recovery. I hope you can get the pain under control quickly!

I have Kaiser in Orange County. They have you go through the Options program which is the medically supervised diet. Then, once you meet their criteria and do lots of tests, etc. they give you a list of surgery centers that you can go to. I'm having my surgery at Pacific Bariatric in San Diego. Once you select your surgery center you have to go for an orientation with the center and then you have your pre-op appointments and then you get your surgery date. It has taken me over a year to get through the entire process, I know for some it's shorter and others it's longer. Because yours is a revision you might get approved and through the process much faster than that.

I'm back in the game mentally today, I had my Protein shake for Breakfast and a very healthy lunch, and we're having a healthy dinner as well. I also got all of the crap that was tripping me up out of the house. Felicity you are ABSOLUTELY correct saying that nothing tastes as good as skinny feels! Thanks for the words of encouragement! Infernored if you want a buddy just let me know! I probably need one as well.

My surgeon told me that I need to lose 10 - 15 more pounds before surgery. I have plenty of time to lose the weight since surgery isn't scheduled until May and I know I can lose the weight, but this weekend I totally sabotaged myself and probably gained some weight back. I ate soooo bad (chips, Cookies, popcorn, ice cream - you name it I probably ate it) and I'm not sure if it's because I'm afraid that after surgery I won't be able to have any of the snack-type foods for a long time or if it's because I'm scared of surgery now that I have a date, or if I just made some poor choices and need to jump back on the bandwagon. I also threw out my back this weekend and am sure that being in pain didn't help with my food decisions. That sort of scares me because I know that things like stress and being in pain are going to happen after surgery and I want this to work for me so badly. I can't continue to live this way...any words of wisdom or encouragement would be most appreciated.
