  1. Good luck and wishing you a speedy recovery!
  2. It was insane, I love the idea of throwing things at him. People are so rude and insensitive!
  3. Since you've had another abdominal surgery (i.e. the band) and woke up with lots of pain, maybe you could make a request that they give you a dose of pain medication just before or as you're waking up. I'm not sure if this is possible, but I know that they want you to be as comfortable and pain free as possible after surgery. You can do it!!
  4. Maybe ask your surgeon's office which hospital in the area they recommend?
  5. That's amazing, you're an inspiration! Congratulations on your success!!!
  6. Can't wait to hear how your surgery goes with Dr. Taller! Good luck
  7. First off, congratulations on your 120 lb. weight loss!! Though I haven't had surgery yet, I have experienced crossover addictions in the past with other large amounts of weight loss, so I can definitely relate. I'm so sorry to hear that you are experiencing horrible depression and anxiety and that your medications are not providing any relief. Have you talked to a psychiatrist about other possible medications? I know that there are a lot of different options out there and that it can take a long time to find the one that works the best for you. Also, participating in 1:1 talk therapy can be useful as well to help figure out the root cause of your depression and anxiety. I agree with Tijuana that maybe AA could be helpful to provide you with another outlet to discuss things in your life and to find other outlets for stress relief. I know you're beating yourself up about going off the wagon, but on the positive side you haven't gained any weight back which means that you can pick things up and continue losing. Maybe you could write down some positive things about yourself and otherwise surround yourself with support. Good luck and if you ever need to talk, I am always willing to listen
  8. That's negative thinking to say you've ONLY lost x number of pounds. Turn it around and be proud of the fact that you've lost x number of pounds regardless of whether it's 1 pound or 20 pounds. It's still a loss, and I think you're doing great, especially for one month out!!
  9. WAY TO GO!!!! Congratulations on your fabulous success story.
  10. That is a really AWESOME NSV!!!!!!!! Good for you.
  11. Hi all, In addition to working on myself and achieving my weight loss goals, I am also a doctoral student working towards my PhD in Clinical Psychology. I need some help with getting participants for my dissertation and was wondering if any of the wonderful people on here could help me out. I need first year college students to take a brief, 10-minute survey about their college experience so far. If you know anyone who is a first year college students I would greatly appreciate it if you could pass along the information! All the participants need to do is go to the website www.attachmentsurvey.com and click the link to go to the survey. After completing the survey they can enter to win a $200 gift card. Thank you so much for any help you can provide! Erin
  12. Good luck! I'm sure everything will go well.
  13. Most of the samples discussed can be ordered online. I've purchased many of my Protein shakes/powder at Target, WalMart, and costco. You can also check the Vitamin section of your local grocery store or pharmacy, they typically have a small selection of protein.
  14. My surgeon told me that I had to be doing 45 minutes most days of the week during my pre-op period. I have been avoiding it like the plague, but I finally started this week with about 20 minutes 3x per week of walking and exercise videos. My goal is to build up to five days per week for 45 minutes by the time I have surgery next month. I think it's doable if I add 1 day and 5 minutes to my routine every week for the next 6 weeks.
  15. Congrats everyone on your May dates!!!! I can't wait for mine and can't believe it's only a few weeks away now!!! Anyone getting nervous yet?
  16. I'm not having surgery in TJ, but I live in Orange County which is only a couple hours away from the border. I'm sure that it's totally doable to drive it. The only major problem I can think of is driving across the border since the line to get into the US is several hours long and you'll need to get up and stretch every half hour or something.
  17. Premier just changed their formula recently and the new formula makes me very sick to my stomach. The old formula was fantastic and I loved it with a tiny bit of peanut butter and a bit of banana, but the new formula is awful. I recently bought the Special K protein drinks which are pretty good, however, they have a lot of calories and carbs in them. They are fine for me now, but after surgery I will need something with higher protein content.
  18. So glad to hear that the surgery went well!
  19. I think they started offering the sleeve as an option a little over a year ago, I remember that when I considered weight loss surgery prior to that the only options were bypass and lap-band.
  20. My experience was the same as Michelle's. I only had to write down the different diet attempts, I didn't have to show proof.
  21. For Kaiser in Orange County, the process is pretty long. After the initial orientation meeting it can take several months to get into the 12 week Options class. Then after the classes, lab work, and appointments with specialists you go to your surgery center's orientation and then appointments with the surgeon, psychologist, and internist. Then another four weeks to get your surgery date. I started the process in January 2010, and my surgery is scheduled for May 2011.
  22. I completely understand! The last two protein shakes I made made me feel nauseous for hours. I'm not sure if I'm getting sick of them or if it's the formula change in the premier protein shakes. I'm going to try some other protein varieties to see if they work any better for me.
