  1. Renee, Thanks for sharing your story. You're a very strong woman and you've gone through so much. All the losses, and setbacks, and pain are very familiar. You deserve to be healthy and I'm so excited for you! Erin
  2. The calorie count is around 295 for the whole thing if you use the powdered skim milk. 2T PB: 190 calories 1/2 Banana: 45 calories 1/4 c Milk Powder: approx. 60 calories
  3. I think this is pretty common. Not only do they want you to prove that you can be compliant, losing weight prior to surgery helps to shrink the liver which makes surgery safer and easier.
  4. Welcome! Thanks for sharing your story, we look forward to cheering you on through this process.
  5. Here's my list: 1) To be healthy enough to have babies! 2) Not having to shop in plus size stores. 3) No back/knee/foot pain 4) No seatbelt extender on airplanes 5) Being able to ride on a rollercoaster 6) Not always having to ask for a table instead of a booth. 7) Having room between the steering wheel and my stomach 8) Not worrying about being able to buckle the seatbelt in a small car 9) Being able to cross my legs 10) Being able to touch my toes 11) Having more fun in the bedroom! 12) Running a 5K 13) No more cpap! 14) Wearing a bathing suit without a stupid skirt. 15) Never hearing another weight related comment from a stranger again!
  6. I have a sinus rinse and fortunately I also have distilled water! Thanks for the info, I'll definitely do all of that. Thanks Meggie. How are you feeling?
  7. I don't know, I shouldn't have. It was mainly because I thought they wanted me to be very low and I was also nervous about needing to drop the 10 pounds, but since I felt like crap I bumped them back up and now I'm eating the correct amt. of calories and am back to feeling good. I also lost the 10 pounds I needed to lose!
  8. I lost the 10 pounds I had to lose to have surgery!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited! Only one bummer, now I have a cold and need to shake it before surgery next week. I'll be pushing the fluids and taking my Vitamins that's for sure.
  9. I'm doing well on the pre-op diet. I haven't been cheating, and have lost 9 out of the 10 pounds the doctor has requested. The first week I stayed a little above 1200 calories per day and lost about a pound a day doing that. Then the second week I was on all liquids, the first day I had about 500 calories and that gave me the worst headache and I was dizzy, so I bumped my calories up to between 800 and 1200 per day and that seems to be working very well, I stalled out for a couple of days, but am back to losing about a pound a day.
  10. Have you tried different brands? I really like the vanilla EAS brand at the grocery store, but with all of the shakes I have to doctor them up. I typically add Peanut Butter and banana. I know PB has a lot of fat and calories, but I only put in a small dollop. That has been working well for me. I just count the calories. I've also added cocoa powder and a little bit of sweetener, that kind of makes it taste like hot cocoa mix.
  11. Glad to hear that surgery went well for you! Wishing you a very speedy recovery. Only 9 days until I join you on the loser bench!!
  12. I bought: Vitamin C (Nature's Made 500mg chewable) B-12 (Nature's Bounty 5000 sublingual) B Complex (Nature's Bounty sublingual liquid) Calcium +D (Walgreen's brand, chewable) Multivitamin with Iron (Flintstone's Complete) The only other thing I need to get is Biotin
  13. does it have to be Clear liquids? My surgeon's requirement after surgery are clear liquids in the hospital and then full liquids once I get home. Full liquids include: broth, strained/blended Soups (broth based and cream), Protein shakes, sf Jello, sf Popsicles, and clear beverages.
  14. I can't wait to hear how surgery went! Hope all is well.
  15. Thanks Holly! Good luck with your liquid diet, don't forget to get in your fluids in addition to your "meals". That's been a struggle for me and I think I'm slightly dehydrated because I keep forgetting to drink.
  16. Congratulations!!!! That's an amazing NSV!!!!!
  17. I've talked to several people about pizza. Two friends had surgery about 6 weeks ago and they both said that they can eat about half a slice of pizza.
  18. My current favorite beverage is Diet, Caffeine Free Arizona Iced Tea. It comes in gallon sized containers that are typically 2 for $5 at the grocery store.
  19. Though I do have a kitchen, I've been doing great with my magic bullet and microwave. I make myself two shakes per day, and then I have sugar free popsicles, Jello, and Soup. I beef up the shakes by adding ice and a small spoonful of Peanut Butter. The one I had this morning tasted like chocolate peanut butter ice cream! If you don't want to do the soup, you could do two shakes and then have one high protein, low cal meal per day. Good luck
  20. The pre-op diet is hard today! 12 days till surgery day and today is the first day I've felt deprived with my full liquid diet. I think it's because it's the weekend and this is typically when my hubby and I go out to eat. I'm also getting bored of soup and sweet shakes. I just keep telling myself, this too shall pass.
  21. Thanks for the input.
