  1. Be proud of you inner nerd! Nerds and Geeks rule a lot of the world (think BIll Gates and those wizards from Facebook)and are responsible for all the good toys we take for granted (the wheel, fire, electricity, computers, etc). I am proud to be a geek - both professionally (engineer) and personally (love Star Trek, Lord of the RIngs, etc).

Congratulations on breaking 300. The next 100 will be gone before you know it.

    Sharon

  2. Soon you will begin your pre-op diet (I assume). You have probably said goodby to everything by now, right? Plot out a schedule between then and the start of your pre-surgery diet - after this day no more fried food, after this day no more complex carbs. It will give you something to focus on and will make it seem like you are already starting your new life.

Good Luck. My surgery was on 2/22 last year. Best day of the entire year for me.

  3. It isn't wierd to be having dreams related to your surgery or your sleeve. Perfectly normal. A lot of dieters (sleeve or not) dream of food, or dream that they are "breaking" their diet. You are having the sleeve variation of the dreams.

    Good Luck.

  4. I would follw up with the company with a formal complaint lettre on the representative that dealt with you. If you don't get the shipment, it will be an easy refund with the credit card company. Just have the details so you can fill out the credit card company's form.

  5. If you go tell the person who had the bad reaction that you are going to go have the surgery, and you are telling her this in confidence - no one but she and your boss know - she should keep her mouth shut. If she is in a leadership position, she has to know talking about an employee's private medical business is NOT OK and there are laws against it.

Make up a plausible story to tell when you get back from surgery. I told people I was having "plumbing surgery" and that shut people up. Other people have "gallbladder" or "hernia" surgery. Once you are visisbly smaller, tell people you had to change your diet before surgery and have kept it up afterwords, you like the way it makes you feel. No one has to know your business.

    Good Luck!

  6. Irene, Congratulations on getting to the point we all want to get to - where you are happy with the size you are and get to focus on maintaining. Enjoy the "fruits of your labor" - you have worked harder than anyone I have ever heard of to get to where you are.

Enjoy the holiday season. I think Santa has already come to your house.

  7. If you want to spend time at your family's place and you want to make sure you stay on your plan, take food with you. If your husband wants to go somewhere with you, take a small ice chest and take what food and drinks you need. I have gotten through the first seven months doing that. I will not let myself be put into a situation where I need to eat and don't have any good options.

    Good Luck.

  8. How about weighing / measuring your portions - like you did at the beginning? Do this for a few days, focus on eating slowly, and see if it helps.

If that doesn't work, you could try doing the 5 day "pouch test". There are posts here that refer to it, and I also found a reference for it on the internet. If you are interested, and can't find info on it, PM me.

Good luck - hope you feel better / see results soon.
