  1. WOW!! You look AMAZING!!! I can only hope for such success!!!! Way to go!!
  2. Good lord!!! if I get 'tube socks' I will need to raise $$ for a boob job!! Hahah!!
  3. My surgeon suggests at least 90g of protien a day. If you get unfalvored Protein powder you can add it to smoothies and other foods to bulk it up. Maybe 600 cal is too low? I've been doing a lot of research as I have the fear of not losing as well after my surgery. Let us know how you do!!
  4. My mom is EXTREMELY health conscious and I am often emabarassed at how she orders everywhere she goes- she designs her own plate no matter where she goes and it's never been an issue. From the smallest diner to the 5star restuarnats. Now I see why she does it!! She has mantianed her weight for 50 years w/out surgery. The most dedicated health nut I know!
  5. Sadly, so much changes for people after WLS. Friends, family, supports, etc. Some for the better and often times the worst.I suggest using this site for daily check in, supports, etc. Do a lot of research reading, find new hobbies where you might find connections. Bariatric support groups? Book clubs? Think outside the box and focus on yourself and becoming the best you can. Your r-ship w/ your husband appears strong so take those positives and kick it up a notch with him Embrace this new life!!
  6. Way to go!! Keep up that good work!!! This is the journey you meant to be on!
  7. Yes, you can. I use unsweet vanilla almond milk as well. Less calories, more calcuim, thicker and makes the shakes so much bette!
  8. I am supposed to take a extended weekend trip to Louisville KY w/ my best friend to see her daughter who I am also very close to. I have been hesitant b/c I don't want to go on vacation feeling 'fat' but I think this is something I need to do...try southern foods and fine whiskey (which I am a huge fan of)!! This is supposed to be the week before my surgery so it's a prime time. I also plan to make a bucket list for each 10 pounds I lose of things I have stopped doing for myself- manucures, a massage, a day trip, etc. I am so ready for this journey!!
  9. I have my Aug weigh in soon and then just my Sept one is left. Praying this will go through for me!! I'm sooooo ready!! My tenative surgery date is the week of Oct 12th!!!!!!!
  10. I have a neightbor who is always looking so fashionable and quite smaller than me. She goes through her closets often and gives bags to my daughter..now I am starting to go through them to save for me!!! This a huge incentive b/c she really has great taste!! I am going to start looking at summer clearance for a few tops and skirts/dresses for next summer soon!!
  11. What an incrdible journey!! Mine is very similar honestly, so I can relate quite well. Grew up in a home where food was the anti-christ. It has taken me years to regain some 'control/ but now I am ready to go and accept this next challenge. You look amazing and I am very happy for you girl!! I have to say your jorney is an incredible inspiration to me. It's been for me to relate to others as not many people share our 'background' Your story has really made a difference in my day. Thank you!
  12. You look AMAZING!! I can see a significant difference and you are glowing in your after picture!! Congrats!!
  13. I will keep postive thoughts for you as well. I have been down this road too many times. I had to gain 10 pounds to get to a 40 BMI and I am actually at a 39.99 It's driving me insane. I pray that by gaining I will not screw things up, but like you, I have no co-mobidities. I have arthritis, and my cholesterol is slightly elevated! grrr. sad to wish I had something more to go on. I have 2 more appts. One in 2 weeks and another in Sept. before my final paperwork is submitted. Do you have BCBS for insurance? If I get denied I fear I will be a melted hot mess and it will knock me dow too far. We got this girl!!
  14. Just got word it looks like I will be going to surgery the week of Oct 12th! The news literally brought me to tears!! I do one more Ins. hurdle to get through, but I praying and being optomistic! It's been a long 5 years coming!! I have more research, charting, praying, and seeking help longer than I care to mention lol I really hope this is the next chapter in my life!! Any other Oct surgeries out there??
  15. I've had to think long & hard too... Although I'd prefer the sleeve the RNY is what I am choosing since I feel it has great long term effects & enough research to support it
  16. You can eat anything on both of you chose to. The book I referred to explains how to eat good foods you want yet balance out to not gain etc. it's really helped me grasp the whole big picture. There's no solid evidence to show why one works better than the other. Many surgeons have varied opinions on this. I just suggest read, look in medical journals and books. I've been researching 5 years to truly understand the surgeries and eating patterns
  17. I never realized my size either as I got attention, dated, etc until i saw a picture of me from a wine tour. I had never had a picture of me taken full body in years until that day...I brought me to my knees. But..it was a wonderful male friend who picked me back up. He made me realize how people see me...fun, loving, happy, etc and not for the body that I see in the mirror!! We are all here for similar reasons- embrace your changes, and be happy w/ who you are as a person!!
  18. I'm surprised at the vitamin situation. Id be nervous to not take them. How do you manage alcohol? Do you drink anything carbonated? I have GERD as well and I take meds so thinking RNY might be my best option.
  19. Ong it's like you read my mind!!! I felt the same way!! I just read an amazing book that truly helped me beyond words!!! I high suggest it- especially if your a good addict!!! "Practical Advice for Long Term Maintenance of Bariatric Surgery " by Pamela Harrison. It's 5$ and an eBook!! Quick read and super helpful !!!
  20. I think you should look at your accomplishments!!! Wow!! 140# in that short of time is incredible!! Ask your trainer to change things up a bit, work a new routine, change things around and that can help a lot. But girl..you have done amazing!! keep that hard work up and your chin!!
