  1. Congrats to you!! What an accomplishment!! I'm scheduled for surgery on the 22nd, but thinking ahead I have some of the same questions as you do. I've had 4 friends have the surgery...none of them have had plastic surgery yet. They have all maintained their weight at this point. My one friend says when she starts to put a few pounds on she starts focusing better on Protein and cuts back her wine for a week or so. She says its about balance. I recently read a great book by a woman who had the surgery and is a trainer and she talks about how to not regain the weight. It's an eBook and only 5$ 'Piratical Advice for Lifetime Maintenance after Bariatric surgery' by Pamela Harrelson Wishing you well!!
  2. I'm thinking about you!! Keep positive thoughts!!
  3. Any news yet?? I just got my approval for surgery on Friday!!
  4. OMG!!!!!!!!!! I GOT APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LESS THAN 24 HOURS AND BCBS MADE A DECISION!! The insurance adviser at my surgeons office really didn't think I'd get approved so I was a hot mess!! Now it's tears of joy
  5. I think it's b/c I am not a traditional patient possibly....@@guyfrom315
  6. @@guyfrom315!! Thank you!! I have been w/ this office for a while so I feel confident for the most part. Amy who does Insurance seems to feel I may have trouble getting approved so we shall see. lol I used to do lovonox shots from a blood clot a few years back so at least I have that 'skill' hahaha!!
  7. OK my friends..I had my psy eval today. It went awesome and we talked a lot about my concerns of being denied, expectations, etc. She honestly felt looking at my history, medical conditions, etc that I wouldn't be. She said she was very confident I would be ok but if not she would also help w/ my appeal based on my past medical, psy, etc. I am feeling so incredibly blessed right now!!! I am so grateful to have found such wonderful people both here and in my life in general!!
  8. Sorry to be a pain...where do I find just the October list of surgery dates.
  9. I had to do six months preop in regards to weighing in but I was not required to lose anything.if I had lost anything I probably would not qualify as I'm already on the cusp anyway
  10. @guyfrom315. In Syracuse St Joseph's hospital. Dr. Hill/ Grabers office!!
  11. Breathe sweetie!!!! You got this!!! And appealing isn't all bad... And it usually works !!! I'm Pulling for you!!
  12. I had my pre-op yesterday at St. Joes. Words can't describe how happy I am w/ this hospital. I blew out a tire 1 mile before the hospital on a busy highway. It took a while to get my tire changed etc but the pre op dept waited for me ... On a late Friday afternoon when I'm sure they all wanted to get home. The pre op dept was so thorough & organized it took any fears I had right away!! I'm still praying this all comes together, as its my third time trying in 4 years. The nurse sat me down and asked why I was having this surgery as she thought I wasn't 'big enough' and my health conditions weren't so critical. I almost cried... I think my shocked face confused her. A few moments later she came in and hugged me and apologized bc she thought she sounded rude... But she told me she thought I was beautiful and didn't see my weight as I see it on myself. After sharing my story with her we talked a bit and her genuine softness & caring was exactly what I needed to know this was truly what I need to do for myself.
  13. Unsweetened almond, rice, cashew milk etc. also try unflavored powder with diet juices like Cranberry Spray Mango etc. lots of great recipes out there if you google too!! Add spices or extracts/ sugar free syrups etc!!
  14. Diet juices- add protein powder. Ocean Spray has some new great flavors! I love the Diet Mango!! I change flavors of Crystal light 15 cal Newman's Own light drinks Unsweet/decaf iced tea Arnold Palmer zero calories drinks- veyr yummu Diet green tea by LIpton Make a decaf late' and add a flavored protein shake mix or unflavored
  15. It may be scary but it's so worth it in the end. You don't want all the hard work and weight you have lost to go to waste or come back either. Some things are truly worth fighting hard for. I've been battling insurance for 4+ years and I will fight this time as well, as now it's a need not so much a want! Don't give up girl!!
  16. The app on iphone that I found is is 'visualize you' and it shows the pics
  17. APPEAL APPEAL APPEAL.... if you are denied you have every right to appeal up to 3x w/ BCBS and most of the time they will take the appeal b/c they know you are willing to fight for it!! Get your PCP and bariatric surgeon to help w/ that process IF you are denied!! I wish you the very best I am fighting w/ BCBS now for my bypass (not a revision though) !!! Sending positive thoughts!!
  18. Any for Oct having surgery in NY? I'm having mine at St Joe's in Syracuse...
  19. I meant to try Netrition.com for low/no carb protein snack to dip with
  20. Lots of recipes out there for carb free bread sticks made w/ cauliflower etc that you might make into 'chips' or such... Also Nutrition.com offers many high protein and low carb 'chip' made from veggies and soy etc that might work too
  21. @shakiki123 where are you having your surgery?
  22. PCP appt today for final weight in. Fri- is my pre-op and blood work 5th NUT 6th- PSY and then it goes to insurance!! I have some wonderful people on here and I feel so blessed!!
  23. Thank you @@kimvox66 Wishing you well on your journey!!
  24. @thbrown223- Thank you for your kind words and prayers! There is a good chance I will get denied and have to fight through an appeal. I'm not a traditional WLS scenario patient. I don't have co-mobidities but what I do have does impact my health- just not what insurance wants in regards to everything else. I have a 50/50 shot due to muscular skeletal issues and often time BCBS does really look at this!! My finger and toes are crossed! My paperwork gets submitted to Ins. next Wed or Thur!!
