Gained weight!
Thanks Tiffykins. Yeah, I'm sure it will come off, but I never expected to see a gain. A stall, yes, but gain no. Oh well...

Water issues
I have never liked Dasani water - it has a nasty taste in my opinion (even before the surgery). The bottled water I drink is either Ice Mountain or Nestle Pure Life. Any other bottled water doesn't taste good to me - but those two I really like and can drink them plain.

Gained weight!
Here I am 24 days after my surgery and I have GAINED weight! This week I have gained 3.4 pounds! I'm still eating everything that I'm supposed to be eating and drinking. TOM was 2 weeks ago - so it shouldn't be that I wouldn't think. This is so depressing...

Am I eating right?
Sounds about right to me. I usually start burping when I get full, but many others report that "stuck in the throat" feeling. Just make sure you are taking a good 30 minutes for your 2 ounce meal and you should be fine. Soups go down easier for me than other food - -but it's because those are primarily liquid and not "solid" food.

Totally unrelated to VSG - but I have to share!
One of my favorite authors, Terry Goodkind, is releasing a new book in a couple of weeks. His publishers have designed a couple of contests for his fan base. Well, I entered of course. Tonight, I received a phone call from one of the people that works with Terry and was informed that I was one of 3 second place winners in today's drawing! The prize package included an Amazon Kindle and couple of e-books. Well, I already had a kindle, so instead they are giving me a "store credit" to get some other merchandise from the Terry Goodkind store! I can't believe I won! I'm so excited!

Tired and Week
Yeah, it is somewhat normal. I know I started feeling better as soon as I started taking in a few carbs that came with the pureed foods. Are you on purees yet, or still liquids?

problem voiding
I had a cath when I woke up in the hospital and they didn't take it out until a couple of hours before I was released. One condition of me being released was that I could go on my own. It takes a while for the bladder to wake back up from that anesthetic..

incision picture
You're looking great! Glad things are going so well for you. I never had a drain. Hopefully it won't be bad when they remove it.

does anyone have any protein they're not using?
I have some Isopure Alpine punch in the little bottles that I'm not using. I can't stand the taste of it. It's not a powder, but a liquid drink. If you want it, I'll check into the postage.

ANSI
According to a website that I found that sells it, the ingredients are: Ingredients: Triple-Filtered Water, Pure Protein Isolate Blend: (Ultra-Filtered Whey Protein Isolate, Enzymatic Hydrolyzed Protein Isolate), Phosphoric Acid, Citric Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Malic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose, Yellow No. 5 and Blue No.1. My surgeon and dietician told me to make sure that the FIRST ingredient is Whey Protein Isolate or Soy Protein Isolate and to stay away from blends since they were not a "complete form of protein". In this, it's the 2nd ingredient that is a BLEND. I'd be suspicious of using it. I would check with your surgeon/dietician to know for sure.

The date is set
Congratulations on the weight loss and on getting your surgery date!

Deciding on a Goal Weight?
I set mine so that I wouldn't be considered "obese" anymore. Don't know if I will reach it. If I do, don't know if I'll like it. We'll just have to see. Frankly, I don't remember ever weighing that little. In high school, I was around 180 and had lost about 20 pounds when I started working, but over the years I gained it back plus a bunch. Before high school, I never weighed myself.

Weight gain post op
I figure from the start of the pre-op diet. I also figure from the morning of the surgery - I weighed myself before going to the hospital. So, I know total weight loss and weight loss since the surgery. I only weigh myself officially every Tuesday. However, I do occasionally weigh myself on Thursdays.

Anyone done protein/carbs for Eggface's recipes?
I just used myfitnesspal to calculate it. I used slightly different ingredients than eggface. Here's everything that I used and the calculations based on this version: 8 oz of Ricotta cheese - I used Meijer Low-fat Ricotta 1/2 cup grated Parmesan - I used Meijer 1/3 less fat Parmesean 1 large Egg, beaten - I used Egg Beaters Southwestern Style - 1/4 cup 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning salt & pepper to taste - I omitted the salt 1/2 cup Marinara Sauce - I used Ragu Sweet Tomato Basil 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese - I used Sargento part skim cheese. I used a mini-loaf pan (although, I should have used 2 - some spillage of the tomato sauce) to bake it. This yielded 4 servings of 1/2 cup each. I used that serving size because that's what I can eat at this point. Per serving: 148 calories, 6 grams of Carbs, 8 grams of Fat and 17 grams of Protein.

I do - the link is in my signature.

Puree foods
What's light puree? When I was on puree foods - I could have pretty much anything that could be put into a blender and made into a puree. I had Soups, tuna salad, chicken salad, crab salad, egg salad, scrambled egg, etc.

liquid diet.....is it cheating if???
You really should check with your surgeon and/or dietician. They have their guidelines for a reason.
-
Support Group
I was required to attend 1 support group before they would schedule my surgery and I think 6 more after surgery. However, I really enjoy going to them. They are so informative and inspirational.

Returning to work?
Since it sounds like your job is mostly desk work, probably very good chance that you can return quicker than 2 weeks. I was "back to work" a week later since I was able to sit at my desk with my computer (that's the vast majority of my job). After surgery, I had no pain or nausea, and spent just one night in the hospital. When I left the hospital, I never did fill the prescription for the pain medication because I never needed it.

Just diagnosed with severe sleep apnea...
I hope the CPAP helps you. It did not help me - I tried for a year - with different masks, etc and frankly I was more tired sleeping with the machine than I was without it. So, after a year of struggling with it, I stopped using it. I know many people it has helped, but it just did not help me.

caffeine withdrawal??
You may be able to take Tylenol for the headache - just don't take any NSAIDS. Check with your surgeon though to make sure. Also, make sure you get lots of water in - that will help some (at least it did for me). I stopped drinking my caffeine on May 18 - well before my surgery so I wouldn't have to experience withdrawls at the same time.
-
Chili on full liquid
Mine was at the same time. Some however, have it at different times - depends on the surgeon/dietician.

Anybody else really annoyed by all the ads lately?
I use the Firefox web browser with the "plug-in" called ad block plus. I see NO ads on this site.

Endo Question - Sedation?
I was knocked out - went to sleep about 9:30, woke up at 10 - after the procedure was done and was wide awake for the rest of the day.
