I am doing what I swore I wouldn't
I didn't weigh myself for the first 5 days after surgery and then when I did I was happy, but not excited. I read too much about people losing huge amounts week 1 and 2 and got down that I "only" lost 6 lbs. I did lose 10 the week before surgery so I knew to expect a lower number. But now I am obsessed. I WI every day and the numbers have not budged in the past 3 days and I am still on liquids so it is freaking me out. I think I am going to tell my husband to hide the scale. Anyone else do the same or still doing it?

I AM SOOO CONSTIPATED
I used Miralax (generic version) pre-surgery to stay regular. You can also buy the glycerin suppositories that will get you going no matter what.

Banded on 6/2 and the gas pain is excrutiating
Get up and walk. I was walking one block at a time starting day 1 because I didn't want all the pain and luckily it never went above my stomach area. It took a day or two to go away after that.

Lap Band Surgery Week of May 23rd - 27th, 2011
Not sure how I missed this, perhaps I was a little preoccupied. :-) I am Michelle and I was banded in Vegas on 5/27. I thought I was never going to feel better until Sun...then the gas started. Fortunately I walked a lot and it didn't move above my belly, but dang!! I had my post op appt today and they said my incisions look really good. One more week on liquids...I can't wait for mushies!!! I also can't wait to be able to get back to the gym. Another week for that, but then I will still take it easy until 4 weeks post op.

Weird Comment by fellow Bandster
I am 5'7 and was 275 when I started this. My BMI was 41. I camouflage my weight well. I had hypertension and borderline diabetes. My anesthesiologist actually said to me the morning of surgery that he usually knows who his patients are but he had to check my chart to know I was his patient. I told him thank you, but he hadn't seen me naked yet :-)

Alcohol?
My doc said no alcoholic beverages at all for at least 4 months, and then nothing with carbonation.
- Mushies

May Bandsters
I just had surgery yesterday and definitely feel better today than I did yesterday. LOL. I hate being sedentary. I am walking once an hour but dang!! I will be happy for the day I can stand up off the couch without having to hold my pillow against my stomach.

Recover ? - All Answers Appreciated~
Just had surgery yesterday and I am still stuck on my recliner. Feeling SO much better than yesterday but getting up to walk every hour or so. I am using heating pads to help with the pain over incision sites. I am hoping to be able to get to church tomorrow. Can't imagine driving before Mon.

Protein and water requirements
I have to do 90 g of protein a day but got a lot of great products from my doctors office. Bariatric Advantage is the brand of a lot of them and their products are great. Lots of supplements and protein shots to choose from.

Self imposed Pre-op diet???
I did it just to mentally prepare myself. I still have Herbalife shakes from the beginning of the year so I started using that. I have a shake for breakfast and dinner and usually soup for lunch. I will have a yogurt in between lunch and dinner. The first day I did have to eat tuna around 2:00 because I was starving, but I have been good ever since. I have lost 9 lbs since Sat just by doing this but I wanted to drop before surgery so that my liver wasn't inflamed. Good luck!

Had Surgery Yesterday...Here is how it went.
Congrats! I have surgery on Friday and this makes me feel much better. I'm with you, not much experience personally in hospitals :-)

Had my pre-op appt today
Friday will be here before I know it. It is coming so fast I can't believe it! I learned a LOT of good information in the meeting today. I also bought a kit from my doctor's office that will get me through the first 30 days+. It has everything from the Protein drink mixes to the Protein powder to all supplements and chia seeds (for fiber). It was $300 but that was totally worth it to me. The supplements will last me 3 months and the other items are good for a month. Easy breezy. The pre-registration at the hospital sucked. It took an hour and a half longer than it should have, which concerns me for how they will be the day of surgery.
