Ab exercise suggestions?
I am 4 weeks out and ready to start working on my abs but don't know what I should start out with. What did you do?

Skechers Vs Reebok
I bought the shape ups and after 2days of walking in them ended up with severe hip pain (joint, not muscle). When I read up on them, I saw why. There are women with hip stress fractures because of wearing these suckers. Be very careful.

Take progression photos of yourself
Thank you!!

How long did you have to wait...
2 weeks. I was scheduled for during my 1st appt (I did the seminar 6 weeks prior) and had already done all of my surgery clearance through my primary. I was cleared for surgery the day I was scheduled. I have Tricare.

Tricare Prime - Lap Band Denied Again, Again, And Again!
What new rules are there? I also have Tricare Prime, just had surgery 4 weeks ago and it was still 100+ lbs overweight and a co-morbidity (I had hypertension as well). Where are you located? I'm sorry for your denials, but very good that you are able to self-pay.

Take progression photos of yourself
I am 4 weeks post-op today and had pictures taken of myself this morning (I also did the night before surgery) and WOW!! I don't feel like I had lost all that much weight or slimmed down that much, but seeing the pictures put me in a GREAT mood!! I would highly suggest everyone do the same to actually see the progress being made. :-)

Got scolded by np for protein shakes in the am
My doc's office doesn't have a problem with it, in fact they encourage it somewhere throughout the day. I do mine in the morning because I am not terribly hungry after I work out.

how long out of work post op??
I had surgery on Friday, took the entire next week off and went back the next Monday. I work at a law office and couldn't imagine having gone back before then, but that is just me.

Breakfast problem
I do a protein shake and at the last swallow add 1 tsp of chia seeds. Keeps me satisfied until lunch.

Fustrated with lack of weight loss
I had surgery the day after you and have lost 25 total (including pre-op) but i am SEEING a huge difference. My clothes are looser, I am visibly "smaller" in certain areas (especially my midsection) and I know that so long as I keep with doing what I am supposed to food wise and working out the weight will continue to drop. Don't stress about the number on the scale. I am a scale stalker too but don't let it get to me anymore.

What time do you have to be to the hospital?
I was there at 6 am for 7:30 am surgery. Had to shower again before I left the house so I was up at 4:15.

When will my swollen tummy go down
I am 3.5 weeks post op and mine just started going down last week. It will take some time.

BMI of 34.1, TRICARE STANDARD, MEM MED IN SAV WON'T SEE ME
What TriCare do you have? I have TriWest and I had to be at least 100 lbs overweight with at least 1 co-morbidity or 200% overweight. TriCare is strict with their rules but it is a fast process once all is said and done. I am 5'7 and weighed 275 when I started the process along with hypertension (I had a BMI of 41 but they did not take that into consideration). Have you gone to TriCare's website or spoken to a patient advocate? I think they will tell you the same but if different regions have different standards%2

July 4 Challenge 2011
Bumping for WI today :-)

How long after surgery before your first bowel movement.
It took me 6 days and was not terribly painful. Just make sure you are drinking plenty.

AUNT FLOW
I was on meds for PCOS but didn't start regulating until 2 months before surgery. Then on my surgery day, literally 2 hrs post-op, I started.

4 hr road trip 2 days after surgery
I had surgery 3 weeks ago and can't imagine having gone to a concert 2 days later. I went to a concert 11 days post-op and after standing for 4 hrs thought I was going to die. I rode in the car for the first time (aside from the day of surgery) 4 days post op and every bump was very uncomfortable. Just my 2 cents.

Co Worker JUST SAID WHAT????!!!!
Oh yeah, totally doing it the natural way. To heck with her. Jealousy rears its ugly head from time to time. Focus on you and your health :-)

4 Days Post Op
I was completely useless for 5-7 days after surgery. Kudos to those who were out and about on day 2-3, I could not do it. Let your body heal and don't sweat it. I was dragging last week when I came back to work. I still get tired early and am 17 days post op.

Mushies
I agree with everything she said. LOL

Not losing as much as I expected.
You definitely need to listen to your doctor and follow his orders post-op. I just started on mushies on Friday and I was banded 4 days before you.

One Month Post-Surgery
Great job!! Very inspiring!

7 days post op and i need help....
I bought the liquid Tylenol and it is "Rapid Release." It will be right by the regular Tylenol. Also, I felt like pure crap up until about 4 days ago (I am 2 weeks post op today). It does get better. Walking will help you a lot with the gas pain and the Gas-X strips help out a lot.

Tummy swelling
How long did yours last? I still can't button my pants. Went and bought some flowy dresses to wear until I can get back in my pants.
