  1. DIdn't the surgeon give you a list of do's and don'ts for food? You can't have anything but full liquids 4 days out! Wow, call your surgeon's office and ask them for a list of appropriate foods for the phases you'll be going through. Didn't you have a nutritional class before your surgery?
  2. Relax. They aren't going to find it's dangerous down the road. There have been studies done on people with stomach cancer that had to have most of their stomach removed just like us and they lived long and healthy lives. Everything is fine and will continue to be fine. The only thing you have different than before is a smaller stomach. That's it. And trust me, you'll never want to have it reversed even if it was possible! Enjoy your weight loss!
  3. I started out trying some of that Bud Select 55 but it tasted like piss Water and I just started drinking regular Bud Light. I know it won't lead me down a bad road because I never drank much before. It's nice to have a normal life with my friends on the weekend if I want to have a few beers, though.
  4. Carbonation doesn't bother me one bit. I'm not a soda drinker, but I drink a few beers every weekend with no problem. And still losing steadily.
  5. Your insurance paid for your surgery with only 50-80 lbs to lose???
  6. I just ordered some calcium citrate. Pretty sad that I have to learn about this on an internet forum instead of from my doctor but I'm glad I did!
  7. If this is true, why don't all surgeons inform their patients of this? I was never told about Prilosec canceling the benefits of taking calcium carbonate. Why would they tell you to take the two together if that was the case? Doesn't make sense.
  8. It gets a LOT better when you get to solid foods. Until then, it pretty much sucks and you have to deal with it. Sorry!
  9. The liquid stage and even the mushie stage to me just plain sucked. The worst part of the whole process in my opinion. Once I got to solids I was good to go. Hang in there! It gets a LOT better!
  10. You shouldn't be eating anything solid at 1 week post op and that is why you aren't feeling full. You don't get the restriction until you eat solid food. Liquids just start sliding into the intestines as soon as you drink them which is why you don't feel full. Trust me, the first time you eat some dense protein like a piece of chicken or beef you'll know what restriction means!
  11. Quote from "The Bucket List" movie : "never pass up a bathroom, never waste a hard-on, and never trust a fart."
  12. I started drinking my coffee again at 2 months out.
  13. I was totally at the same point you are now. The nausea does pass and I got my appetite back so just hang in there and get through it and eat what you can!
  14. I don't drink soda but I do have a few beers every Friday night and it doesn't bother me at all.
  15. Absolutely I experienced this. I was also excited to get out of liquids and on to something that resembled real food. But when I started eating I felt sick to my stomach and the food disgusted me. I actually spent a lot of my mushie time drinking the Protein shakes. I think it has something to do with your stomach not being used to real food after being on liquids for so long. It's a transition period because trust me, it will end. After I was on regular solid food for a couple of weeks my appetite came back and I'm enjoying food again. Even the things that made me sick before or now good again. You just have to get through this time. It will pass.
  16. It's not the losing weight that's my problem. It's the keeping it off. If any of us could do that then we wouldn't be on this forum right now. Sure we could get in the mindset and maybe keep it off for many years. BUT...when you get too old for exercise or have an injury that keeps you from exercising and the pounds start creeping on, what will you do? This is the possibility for permanent weight loss if you use the tool correctly. Something to think about.
  17. I'm a little over 2 months out and have lost 60 lbs. I get comments all the time about my weight loss. Not sure how you'll do in that amount of time, but that's where I'm at if it helps. Oh and I can eat anything I want except for bread, pasta, and rice.
  18. If you like hot chocolate this is some good stuff. And 15 grams of protein! http://www.mybariatr.../ps-ht_choc.htm
  19. I would guess that at 5'9 150-160 lbs would be a more realistic goal.
  20. Thanks, I hope I continue with that trend! I'm going to start jogging soon. That should boost the weight loss.
  21. I had to poke another hole in my belt with an ice pick today. Pants were falling down again. Love it! I also had to cut the first part of the belt down because the tail was too long, traveling through 2 belt loops after I buckled it. I will need a new belt soon. Went from a 46 waist pants to a very saggy loose 40 now. BMI has went from 48 to 39 which takes me out of the morbidly obese category and now I'm just plain obese. Thought I would share. This sleeved life is good! 60 lbs down and 70 to go. I'm 2 months out. Woo hoo!!
  22. Your body will lose weight in steps, not a gradual level loss. Mine does anyway. I'll go 4 days without losing a pound and then 2 will fall off. Pretty weird but that's the way it goes. Don't worry about it. Your fat can not sustain the level of calories you're taking in. It has to give in and come off eventually. Hang in there. From a guy's point of view.
  23. I don't know about 2 weeks out. I didn't chance it. If you're drinking a carbonated beverage like beer then I would say maybe that would be uncomfortable for you. If it's wine or the such, I'm not sure. My surgeon wanted me to wait for 6 months but I'm 2 months out now and I drink beer about once a week on the weekend. I have zero issues when I drink it, I just don't drink it all the time because of the empty calories aspect that I don't need. I would venture to say it won't hurt you because like you said, we're completely normal except for our tummy being smaller in size. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
