I am having my sleeve done on 8/18. I am so excited and so nervous at the same time! I am going on a business trip with a large group of people right at about 2 months after my surgery. What can I expect life to be like at the point? What kind of diet will I be on? Will I be able to handle solids at that point? None of the people going on the trip with the exception of my husband know that I am having any sort of procedure done. Will it be obvious that something is "up" with me? I am also wondering what kind of weight loss to expect at about 8 weeks out. I just can't fathom losing a significant amount of weight that quickly but I am wondering if I need to buy some new pants for the trip before the season changes. So many questions! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'd like to hear from others on this too. I have a conference to go to in about 2 months and I want to have an idea of what I might feel like and be eating, etc.

I was about six weeks out when we went on a ten day vacation in our Motor Home. We went out to eat with friends and I ordered a small meal and took most of it with me. It was like no one noticed I didn't eat much they were all so "into" eating their big meals. We also went to two reunions. No one commented on how little food that I actually ate. If they noticed they didn't say anything. One thing I did was make sure I finished eating about the same time everyone else did. As for feeling - I felt absolutely great. I had so much more energy and felt so much better than I have in a long time. It really amazed me how much energy I had. If you make sure and drink your water and get your protein in you will be fine. I took some protein bars with me to make sure I got enough protein. That worked great. I ate about anything and everything that I wanted to eat and still lost weight on the vacation. The sleeve is very manageable when traveling or going out to eat with others.

I traveled for work a week after surgery and stayed out of town for almost a week. Overdid it? Probably. 2 months out you will be fine but understand not normal. You will not eat normally and yes, co=workers will notice you are eating differently. If you are not telling those at work (I didn't either) then you will need to tell the truth, but maybe not the whole truth. What are you comfortable with saying if an unwelcome comment comes up? Practice now your responses or better yet, search forum for what other people do or say. Now, about what you will be able to eat. You need to ask your surgeon for a diet plan which they should have. Surgeons differ. A Soup is always a good choice ... well depending upon the type of soup. chicken salad, egg salad or baked soft fish would be an option also. Ask.

I'm a little over 2 months out and have lost 60 lbs. I get comments all the time about my weight loss. Not sure how you'll do in that amount of time, but that's where I'm at if it helps. Oh and I can eat anything I want except for bread, pasta, and rice.

Depending on what your doctor's program requires (some people are still transitioning from mushies at two months!) you may still be restricted, but your body will probably be accepting most foods by then - I was on mushies in the hospital, transitioning to more real food over the first month. Restaurant meals should be no problem by then, but you will be getting lots of leftovers to take back to your room (try to get a room with a fridge!) Your current clothes will probably be falling off within the first month - there is usually a big drop the first couple of weeks before you get a stall and then resume loss at a more moderate pace - I was down about 30lb the first month and another 20 the second (more than half way to goal then!) Some will lose quicker than others, but something is wrong if you don't see a substantial drop in the first couple of months.

Thanks for all the input! I don't know that it is not possible to be prepared for what my life will be like in 2 months but I am excited to find out. This journey can't start fast enough for me!
