Ice Cream Maker
You can even use soy milk. I have the cheeper one, the cuisinart ice20, I paid $31 including shipping on line for a refurbished one in the box. I'm sure they work the same, but the stainless is Sweeeeet! Happy Birthday! I am not going for anything to icy quite yet, but I made SF ice milk before surgery and it was good. Eggface almost always uses soymilk, and I see recipes for sorbets... so Im sure lactaid would work fine. The freeze is soft serve which is nice, but if you want more of a scoop, just freeze for an hour or so in tupperware. I can't wait for this summer and frozen protein drinks! (I probably WON'T wait till this summer...)

How long was your recovery period?
My doc would only give me 6 weeks. He said he might take a week off after he sees how it goes. I think this is too much, but it will be great to have the time to get used to the sleeve and eating and such. Im sure the weight loss will show by then too...

U tube video of the Sleeve operation
I asked for the the DVD, and the Jr. doc said that they couldn't do that because of possible liabilities. I even asked for the left over stomach! THe Jr. doc didn't even answer that one.!.. he just looked at me like I was crazy. hahaha!

Anyone know of a good Sleeve Surgeon in Northern California?
I used Dr Ali at UCDavis in Sacramento. I have Western Health Advantage Insurance. Their team is great, I got everything done in about 6 weeks from start to finish. So far so good for me, I'm only out of surgery 6 days.

On discharge they said stop taking my D3, b12(I was low on both of these and have been taking them to get the numbers up), biotin and calcium and just take two chewable multis for now...they asked me to stop E before surgery as well.

Too much clear fluids?
This has been my experience too gals. I can drink a lot (small sips, but pretty fast) and up to one cup of thinnish soup over maybe 30-40 minutes. I am getting in my liquid which I am very happy about. Glad to hear its not a restriction problem. I think we ARE lucky! I can tell when I eat greek yogurt that I start feeling "full". So far no pain or nausea...I hope i can keep it that way!

6 days post-op feeling droopy
Perhaps drink it even slower/smaller sips? I would tap on my chest a bit, and a bubble would come up and make room for the liquid sometimes... after the bubble I could take another small sip. I feel like I can drink a lot... it makes getting in liquids easy, but I hope this doesn't mean my restriction is less in the future....

Rock and a Hard Place
Oh my gosh girl! You really are starting a new life soon! I guess one step at a time. Your going to have to peel those layers one at a time, and shine some light on them and slowly become the new woman that you will be. You will be so rich with experience and yet you have so much more to learn. This is good! Just remember to be kind to yourself and take it slow. Thats what I think anyway. Keep up here, we all want the best for you. Maybe make a list of goals. Perhaps even make a statement of what your purpose in life might be, These will help you stay on track when you feel in a whirlwind sometimes.

what is a outpouching of the sleeve (bouser) ???
It looks like it is Diverticulosis, the presence of abnormal outpouchings in the wall of the colon. This can happen to those without WLS. Dont know if it might be because of WLS, but cant find any connection on the internet.

6 days post-op feeling droopy
I am at 5 days. I feel pretty good, much better than before! I guess about the same as you. I am not getting in all my protein yet.. so far 32gms by lunch which is better than yesterday. I try to work on my water from the minute I get up, this is the most important right off (three cups by lunch). I find that warm camomile and peppermint tea go down pretty well. At first anything sweet just made me want to retch... I had a fuzzy navel drink this morning and it was ok. So I guess my tastes are getting better. My energy is better, but I feel it when I walk very far (about a block and a half is it for now). I also use my "blower" to help my lung function. I am also trying to get in some carbs... blended bean soup, to help with energy and some protein. Good luck! Keep in touch.
