Crazy Head Hunger
There is an after dinner treat in India that is a mix of seeds, mostly anise or fennel seeds with a few little sugar pearls (really small ones like cake decorations) and sometimes toasted coriander seeds. Really yummy and you just put a few bits in your mouth and chew on them till they are dust, great flavor- no carbs to speak of. Try a Indian market... "It's actually a mixture known as MUKHWAS (which literally translates into breath freshner) & it aids in digestion as well. Mukhwas is a colorful Indian after-meal snack or digestive aid made primarily of fennel seeds, anise seeds, coconut, and sesame seeds. They are sweet in flavor and highly aromatic due to added sugar and the addition of various essential oils, including peppermint oil. The seeds are often also coated in sugar and brightly colored. Plain Water drunk after chewing and consuming mukhwas tastes extremely sweet. There are lots of varieties of mukhwas." heres one kind: http://blog.seattlepi.com/franticfoodie/archives/129494.asp

Hospital stay....Is one night stay enough??
One night. The worst was over and I went home. I was lucky to have a recovery nurse that really was on top of everything I needed to do to get checked out after one night.

January Sleevers
I'm doing well thanks, just had my staples out two days ago (it was about 2 1/2 weeks) and they replaced the staples with tape. I have no problems with eating or drinking, but have become lactose intolerant to milk... not to yogurt or cottage cheese.. go figure.

When to go back to work?
I am now just at the end of the first three weeks of my time off of work. My Doc prescribed 6 weeks off from work. This is the most time I have ever heard of for the sleeve, with no complications or anything. I went into work to find out if they would let me back in early (4 weeks) with the stipulation I could not lift over 10 pounds until 6 weeks... my Doc said they might allow me to go back if I could get this agreement... Well work will not do that because of workman's compensation rules. I guess Im out for the full 6 weeks! And i don't get paid for the last three.

No Restriction with Fluids
I'm right there with you guys that can drink a lot. I can also down thin soup pretty well too. I have never had any pain from eating or drinking too much. I do feel like "I'm done", I quit and thats it. I do get full taking my pills, so I think when I'm on denser food I will feel restriction. I get terrific gurgling, sounds like a lion growling, as the food goes down... I almost three weeks out (Jan 18th)

The stall has been broken!!!!!
I have been known to eat a cup of Soup, I think it kind of sloshes right through... In all fairness I took about 45 minutes to eat it... and can eat 1/2 cup of squishy things. I guess they are sliders. I am almost three weeks out, but this seems like a lot. On the other hand, I just started taking some of my pills whole, and they fill me up! Im sure the wishes of my most royal highness sleeve will make herself known as time goes by!

My 2 week vent
I am 2 1/2 weeks out, and I have stayed the same weight (actually gained 1/2 lb) over the last week. I know it cant last, but all the past fears about that point where the weight starts to come back on...just weigh on my mind. We will be ok, and will lose lots more weight. Just sit tight.

The stall has been broken!!!!!
Hi everyone. I went searching for a "stall" post, because I wanted to join the club! I am 2 1/2 weeks out and for the last 7 days I have been on a stall. Perhaps 7 days is not a real stall, and thats what I get for weighing every day instead of waiting for once a week, but except for that I have done really well.I weighed in at my Docs yesterday and the way they figure it I have lost 17 lbs. (they weighed me a week before surgery) This amount counts the weight lost during my 2 day clear liquid diet. I am so happy about this, but the last 7 days have really tested my head. I visited my nut yesterday and she said I was eating too big portions, but my calories and protein are all good, so really this stall is about patients. I did start measuring, and am down an inch in some places... Just venting here, and kind of enjoying being part of the normal way people lose weight with the sleeve! cheers all, Kim

should I go on a diet
You have done so well. First, congratulations! Have you been keeping track of what goes in your mouth, journaling or something? This seems to help me, and at times I stop doing it and lose consciousness of what I'm really eating. Weight watchers is good for that. Others here are using weight watchers meetings or the online program and getting good results. I am resistant to "going on a diet" too... Perhaps if you look at it as a three month intensive workshop or something like that, to just tweak your habits... you might not fall back on a diet cycle. Good luck with that... Im only 2 1/2 weeks out, so not much experience with the sleeve yet, but loads with dieting! I am a vegetarian too, and hope I can pull off enough low carb eating to make this sleeve/tool work well.

When can I be a junglegym?
I don't have kids, but I do have a small dog with pointy little feet that doesn't know the meaning of the word "NO" I use a pillow on my stomach whenever there is a chance shes going to jump up. This might be a good time to try some games or something to avoid rough housing for a few weeks.... maybe rewards or... just shooting in the dark here....

Smoothie... ok for full liquids, or more mushies?
Sounds like something to look forward to in the future. I did buy Chike banana meal replacement, and it is creamy and yummy and ok for full liquids. I make it with soy milk, but you could use almond milk too.

Itchy Rash!
My incisions are getting really itchy (well three of them anyway) They are dark red around the incision, but I don't think they are infected, I think that the staples are just bugging me. I am having them out in two days... Can't wait! I don't know about the rash, Can you call an advice nurse? Did you look it up on the internet?
