  1. i am pretty tight - going to any restaurant is a crap shoot whether i'll be able to each much of anything besides soup - and that is the way i like it - no temptation that way. I go to restaurants now strictly for the atmosphere and conversation and to see and be seen now that i get to dress cute everyday - ha!
  2. Thanks everyone!!! Jen - about 800-900 calories per day (per my surgeon) - I stick to it about 85-90% of time. I cheat with ice cream here and there but not much at all. Oh and by the way - everyone always says that the last few pounds are the hardest to lose and they are so right - the last 10 are coming off the slowest that is for sure! Oh well - even if I stopped now I'd be good.
  3. Well - today is it. My first bandiversary! In so many ways seems much longer than a year ago - but then again the year flew by - hard to explain! 130+ pounds down in one year. Hard to believe. I am so excited. I did not quite hit my goal yet (to be 135 pounds) but I am darn near it and i know i'll make it soon. Thank you all - you have no idea what this site and your support has done for me since even before surgery. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!
  4. All makes sense I agree sleeve v. Bypass
  5. Oh my! Terrible story! Any chance your insurance will cover another surgery since had to be removed?
  6. My doctor lets me decide each time even though I am losing at a great pace. Guess I am lucky. I would not put up with him if he didnt.
  7. Eas advantedge taste best 17g protein 100 or 110 calories ready made shakes silver box of 4 any grocery or drug store has them
  8. I had uhc and no 6 months supervised diet just proved bmi over 40 for last 5 years thru dr. recprds there was an 18 month, period in there where I had no,dr. Visits and no recorded weight but they still approved. No comorbid conditions
  9. no - i have a pretty decked out home exercise room in my basement - but i really didn't do much exercise this year - i really need to do that now that i'm almost at goal to look better and maintain!
  10. Eas adkins advantage taste best
  11. i'm from the Dayton ohio area - but likely not so near your sister....
  12. a relative of mine gets waxed - and prefers that to shaving.
  13. there are state laws in many states requiring timely response to requests for med records - may want to check with a TX lawyer if all else fails.
  14. 130 pounds plus in 11 months with very little exercise. I am not proud of it but its the truth.
  15. my surgeon said 800-900 and i stick pretty good to it!
  16. It was specific to bypass not band.
  17. I agree it's all about calories - i rarely exercise and rarely get my water in - BUT i stick to the 800-900 surgeon recommended calories per day for me. It's working despite the exercise/water issue. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!
  18. I meant to add - the skin is likely unavoidable - that is why many of us on here have plastic surgery - i'm saving for mine now. Loose skin is certainly not a reason not to do the lap-band surgery - it's fixable.
  19. My husband was completely against all of it - we got in some serious arguments - he even cried (this man has cried less than 5 times in front of me in our 20 years together - not a cryer!) but i remained resolved and would not budge. I didn't care - i had made up my mind and nothing was changing it. 131 pounds later he is fine with it (won't admit he's "happy" about it but fine). Here's a piece of advice - SKIP BRINGING HIM TO THE SEMINAR. BRING HIM TO THE FIRST CONSULT WITH SURGEON INSTEAD. I brought my husband to the consult and my husband got to ask the surgeon questions directly. The surgeon gave him piece of mind on death statistics etc. That did the trick and my husband relaxed and backed off. My husband even asked my surgeon how many lap-band surgeries he had done and how many people died on the table or within a week or two after. Surgeon said hundreds and NONE. That worked wonders on my husband. Best of luck to you - and BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!
