  1. You will do great. Use a heating pad on your stomach starting on day 2 for a few days - it saved me. Relax and enjoy some down time and get lots of sleep. Let us know how it goes!!!!
  2. Being in size 4 pants and small and medium shirts and looking fabulous is WORTH those white knuckle nights going to bed hungry post-op. TRUST ME.
  3. My surgeon was excellent and very experienced with band. He never mentioned straws or gum. I do both constantly although i'm very careful to never swallow my gum LOL. I've been very successful, no problems.
  4. Best decision i ever made. You will do great. I was soooo excited too and rightly so. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!
  5. Thanks Missy and I was reading some of your posts too - I want a TT so that was of particular interest - thanks for sharing!!!!
  6. HI everyone! Haven't been on for quite a while but just popping in to say - 22 months in and still SKINNY!!! Maintaining within 5 pounds of goal at all times. Don't even think about any of it anymore. Just a routine part of my life. Portions are just small. Sometimes I even forget to eat or force myself. It's been wonderful. No - not all my problems were solved just like they warn you. BUT being thin and pretty and in beautiful outfits all the time sure ain't bad!!!! =) Just wanted to tell you all that despite all the negativity about the band it does work and it's the best decision I ever made. Surgery was really quick and easy and other than a few scary moments with "odd" feelings or pains at the very beginning - I've had no problems and don't even think about the band. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!

  19. I officially weigh 135.0. That was my goal when I started this just over 14 months ago. It is just unreal I cannot believe I am here. I have lost 141 pounds and am in size 4 or 6 pants. I just want everyone to know - I am no one special - I have been horrible about exercise, continued to drink alcohol, to cheat on slider foods sometimes, the list goes on and on. BUT, i went to every single dr. appt and got all my fills - got good tight restriction about 6 months in (yes it is all will power before you hit restriction which can take several months) and stick to my surgeon recommended 800-900 calories per day about 80% or 85% of the time. I love this site and will continue to be on it daily as I work to maintain this weight (a whole new chapter). BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!
  20. my understanding is that they do a complete or partial unfill when you get pregnant much of the time - then after you have the baby they can re-fill. I am not trying for a second baby (i turn 39 in a few weeks) but if there's an "oops" I am comfortable that there will be no problems band-wise. I believe there are multiple threads/topics on here about pregnancy and the band so be sure to read all those for more info! BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!!!!
  21. I'm a scale addict too - every single morning without clothes after using restroom first thing before eating/drinking anything at all. Keep in mind - I've noticed the same patterns over and over every month - ramping up to period, during period, alcohol, salt - these all affect my weight very predictably. I can fluctate anywhere from 1 to 5-6 pounds throughout the month - depending on the circumstance - often no relation to what i'm actually eating. However, if I only weighed once a month I would see a drop every month - in the 10 pound range since starting (slowing down now as expected). Despite knowing about the fluctations I still have bad and good days mentally as a result of the daily scale number - i can't help it (although I am way less sad/frustrated when it's higher because I know eventually it will go back down and monthly I always lose every single time).
  22. 140 pounds down in 13 months on band - and I am bad about working out and sometimes cheat. Yes it can be done. It's your choice - if you don't stand up for yourself no one will.
  23. Thanks everyone!!! I do always want to share successes along the way for the newbies, people thinking of lapband or those that are discouraged and need some inspiration. Truly my only regret in this whole thing was not doing it much sooner! I had the surgery at 37 and wish I had it years ago. Oh well - better late than never!!! I look forward to getting dressed to go to work or out just because I now have so many cute outfits to choose from it's hard to pick just one!!! I NEVER imagined saying that two years ago. Keep up the faith everyone - I'm no one special and have not been a saint on this program - believe me. I've hardly exercised and I "cheat" often. However, I do stick to the 800-900 surgeon recommended calories most days - and the weight just literally dropped off. I will be in maintenance mode soon which will be a whole new adventure I'm sure. But, I visit here multiple times a day and will keep posting my experiences - hoping to inspire and educate others when I can. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!
