I paid out of pocket. This surgery wasn't bad at all. In a week I was out shopping. Everyone is different but I will tell you I do Pilates which I started right after my band surgery (June 2011). Had my TT march 1. It made all the difference in the world. My Dr said doing Pilates made his job easier and my healing easier. Make sure you do everything the dr says, get your Protein in and Walk. The more you move the quicker you'll heal. I'm back at the gym I just do what ever doesn't hurt. Sneezing hurts so hold a pillow and sneeze with your mouth open. This is a life changing surgery, more than the band, the band helped me change my lifestyle to a healthy one but this surgery is a very visual one. I had a hanging lower abdomen for 29 years and I can tell you when he took off the bandages I cried, not from pain but from being able to see my feet and my other parts with out bending forward, stepping out of the shower and not lifting the skin to dry off, putting on a pair of pants with out smashing the skin in to zip up, all the things that were normal for me were gone and in place of that was a whole new world. Not only will this change your body but it will change your emotional look at your body.

ttny007 reacted to ev1988 in Cosmetic Surgery Consult Today - Now Confused!
So I had my first plastic surgery consultation today to discuss the excess skin on my stomach mostly, but I also brought up a breast lift and an arm lift. The doctor explained to me that there would be 3 separate surgeries for those procedures. I was under the impression that at least a couple could be done at one time, so now I am confused as to whether I was wrong or whether the doctor gets more money that way. I know that is a horrible way to think, but that was the first thing I thought of. I really don't want to have 3 separate recoveries for each of the surgeries, but I am guessing I will have to have at least two separate ones. Any thoughts?

I think I'm a little of both lol. I look in the mirror and can't believe I'm this thin and I love that I can put on a size 6 where I used to be a tight 22, however I am finding that the clothes are really ugly. I'm 54 and I don't want to look like rainbow sherbet! I find I'm more frustrated now I think because I have more options which I didn't have before.

Of what I'm calling an Emotional Roller Coaster. I'm almost down 100 pounds. I got through the winter and spring clothing wise. Now that its warning up, I don't have many casual summer clothes after having to get rid of all the old stuff. Which is great, but, now I have to replace some key wardrobe basics to get me through the summer.
I used to be one who LOVED to shop, but now I somewhat dread it because it's now frustrating. I either have to take the time to figure out what size I need by trying on, or guess at it and take it home to see if it works or not and go back to the store. I used to be able to go to the size I needed an go. Not so much anymore!
While I am happy about my success, and ecstatic that I am wearing 8-10 size smaller than this time last year (and I AM NOT GOING BACK) it's just sometimes surreal looking at the new me.
Has anyone felt like this? How do you deal with it?

finding what worked for me and sticking to it, i weighed every day, did all my exercises everyday and ate similar food every day, sounds boring yes, but i had a lifetime of eating too much good food, i never ate junk food anyways, so a couple of years being rigid with myself paid off , now i am in maintenance i mix it up now and manage to keep my weight stable so it was all worth it

    Hi
    I had an extended Tummy Tuck.< /p>
I worn my binder (girdle) for 3 months. I found I didn't have much of an appetite following the surgery. I found when I had the binder on it was very restricting... but the end results were worth it. I also had 4 drains in.

ttny007 reacted to Cazzy in Yikes...am I really getting a tummy tuck tomorrow??
I have my breast lift tomorrow Saturday 23rd March, i have had all the other surgies and believe me they were not as bad as you imagine them to be. I am 58 yrs old and had masses of skin to be cut away as i had lost over 237lbs, but it looks and feels fantastic, this is one thing you will not regret. It is easy to look back after surgery with rose tinted specs on, take lots of before photos and then keep looking back at them, all this body changing skews our perceptions a little so keep the before and after pics close at hand. Cosmetic surgery has an emotional rollercoaster too so be prepared for a few tearful days but on the whole be be prepared for a new lease of life .. good luck for your surgery.. let us know how you are doing. I will be so glad to get rid of my sagging breats too, i dont need the augmentation just the darn things lited and skin removed
The good thing about long surgeries is that we dont know they are long, only the relatives waiting for us do my first surgery was 11 hours long, my second was 7 hours, this is a planned 4 hour, you will be fine

I just had a pannelectomy last month. My pannus kept me from walking. It hung to an inch below my knees and had a large ball of fat at the bottom. The more weight I lost, the longer it grew. It had already stretched the skin so my scar was over an inch below my port--and the port was above the incision when I had surgery. I lost 130 lbs before the pannelectomy, and it was two years past my surgery date. I have read that they don't like to do it until at least one year past the original surgery, no matter how much weight you lose because there are serious problems. The doctor removed 27 lbs. I developed a serious kidney infection after because I had such severe diarrhea that by the time I got it cleaned up, the germs were already to my bladder. The antibiotics hid the symptoms, but didn't kill the infection. My advice to anyone who gets any symptom of a bladder infection is to go to their GP. The surgeon is a wonderful man, but the GP is more familiar with you and deals with bladder infections all the time. I wish I had done it. I have lost twenty pounds in the month since the surgery, mostly because I couldn't eat. My doctor unfilled my band, he said for at least two months. I will decide then if I want more liquid in it. I've eaten a few things I shouldn't, but am mostly eating like I did before. I am really pushing the Protein. The doctor in the hospital says I need to eat 134 gms a day to properly heal the surgery. By the time I get that much down with a few veggies, I am stuffed. I can walk a bit more, and expect to walk more as time goes by. It is great to get out of the wheelchair part of the day. Being able to move around will make it easier to lose the next 75 lbs. I will be at 180 lbs then, which is my first goal. Mindwing

I have exaxtly the same problem with back fat, i have had all the plastic surgery my breast lift is tomorrow 23rd March and that is me finished but i will be consulting a personal trainer about this back problem, it might be that the fat can be worked on, i would maybe try that first before the liposuction route. My surgeon has warned me tho, that having had so much surgery, we can get a little obsessed over minor imperfections, so in the grande scheme of things actually how bad is it, or is it just when u wear low cut dresses.. Sometimes our perceptions of ourselves get a little skewed after so much weight loss and surgery so i would get more opinions than just our own one

Ok so I just finished week 2 after my TT and things are great except I caught my husbands cold so sneezing is a OMG moment. Other than that no more pain meds and cutting back on the Advil. The brushing is almost gone, I have been massaging them daily. The swelling is going down and as that does so is the weight. If I get brave enough ill put up pictures lol.

i think because of my past (dieting yo yo life)
that made me think (you are nothing but a fat slob who cant control herself)..i do not see what my profile pic see's. i see what my before looks like on my profile in that green sweater..i see (her).
i grew up with a mom who was very critical of me and my 2 brothers...i was a gymnast, cheerleader and when i weighed 100 pounds, my mom told..me i was FAT. that was 30+ years ago... i hear that to this day.
i have been getting better as i have made some excellent friends who threatened to come to NC and whip my A S S if i say mean things about myself.
but i look in the mirror and i struggle daily with liking (me).
    but as rupaul says
if you cant love yourself, how the hell you gonna love someone else
    can i get an amen?

I could care less what they call it. Reconstructive, Plastic, cosmetic, elective... I was against it from the start. Every other time I lost weight it wasn't an issue.,.., of course every other time I didn't lose 224 lbs!!!
Fast forward to the end of my losing journey and see how i changed my mind...check out my Tummy Tuck pics and you will understand why I did it and paid hard earned cash for it. Was it vain... Maybe. Am I embarrassed about it...absolutely not. Would I love to do my thighs and arms....yes. Will I... I don't think so because I am not at the point of hating it.... I don't love it but I can live with it...unlike my tummy and tubular flaps I used to call breasts. Having the procedures I did really made me feel like I finally had the body I worked so hard to get.

One week check up today and the dr was shocked! Said I look like I'm 3 weeks out not one. I'm only taking one pain pill at night. Last night I spent an hour at target and tonight went out to dinner with friends. Lots of walking and drinking Water. Doctor said he was very pleased and I'm just too excited lol.

ttny007 reacted to FLORIDAYS in How much did the extra skin weigh for a TT?
I had a 4 inch flap of skin for lack of a better term.... And my Tummy Tuck took off 10 oz.... I was amazed but the dr said there was no fat behind it and skin just doesn't weigh that much. I was disappointed but thrilled with the results so not too worried about how much that skin weighed. I am almost 3 months post op from my tt and breast lift.

Hi yes I have had a few Ops to be honest... (I will be paying off the Ops forever - But - That is a small price to pay for the amazing way I feel about myself right now - Could do with a face lift - LOLOL)
Op1 = Brachioplasty and Breast reduction
Op2 = TummyTuck (no muscle touched)
    Op3 = Inner Thigh lift
    Op4 = Outer Thigh/Butt lift
Op5 = A rare outer thigh lift as Op4 did not do what I wanted it to all the way
I still have tree trunk lower legs though...
I did not have a lower body lift in one go - But i kind of did over a couple of different Ops - I am in the Uk by the way. I am also still using an E45 type cream every single day when I get up and just before bed - Even now - This keeps the skin supple and moisturised. I dont massage for hours etc - The tape made doing that not as needed - I just rub it in to keep the scar supple and moisturised.
My TT recovery was a breeze as they did not touch the muscles - Was bent forward for maybe 4 or 5 days then all was fine after that - The compression garents I used all came from Eurosurgical, actually made by Design Veronique which is I think a US company. Worth their weight in gold the compression garments were. I lived in them for ages - The moment I was in compression - I had no pain and I knew all was held in place and I felt secure and happy.
I was beyond goal weight when I started surgery (At 143lbs i think) - So I am wayyyyy beyond goal now - Even though the Ops only took off about 11lbs in all! I had like no fat left beneath my skin, well, just a little bit... lol - Today I was 124lbs vut I have had alot of worry in this past week so those lost 2lbs of stress shoudl return as mostly I am always 126lbs.
If you search my name on here you should be able to find quite a few pics of my arms etc and other Ops. As have plonked them in a few posts. Never before would I ever put half nekkid pics of me anywhere - In my past life I would be in hiding - Now - After Ops - I have shown people more than I ever thought I ever would - I am fannnnntabulously happy!
My surgeon told me to remove the tape at about 6weeks or less - But I had read somewhere on this site (after Op2) that the tape gives compression to the scars and that is the best thing to do to flatten and protect them - So from then on I tested on myself. My surgeons first words to me were abotu 'realistic expectations' - So I did not expect too much - Then he gave me the world and more!
I found by sticking one type of tape on my left inner thigh and a different one on my right - My scars showed me that the cheaper tapes in stores are NOT as good as Micropore tape! As my left inner thigh scar is not as good and is redder than my right thigh scar at 2yrs post op! Shame I tested that on myself - but - I had no-one else around me whom I could find out information from - The scar still looks good but it very slightly pinker than the right inner thighs white line...
This site is a mine of information on plastics and without this site - I don't know if I would have had the courage to go on - And people whom I emailed though this site - Gave me the emotional back up for me to keep going to go from the saggy alien I felt like - who has ZERO confidence to this new woman I am today.
Someone on here said to me before Op1 - The words 'Eyes on the prize' and through all this past couple of years I have held those words close to me... And those few simple words served me well!
The inner thigh lift was my most testing - That first time I stood up was ouch! But the moment I was in compression garment - All was fine again! No more ouch and all was great.
Sorry to write a book - I guess when this journey has become a whole lifetime of it's own - It shows you how your thoughts of the who or the what you think you are - Changes so much in just one small Op - My life changing Op was Op1. I went for just the arms - And at the end I asked 'Oh can you fix my boobs while I am there' the first time I saw the new WONDERFFUL boobies - Ohh My God - I am WOMAN - For the first time in my whole life I felt like a real woman. I have lovely small boobs (I am a 34C - No implants after being a G cup I wanted smaller) OMG These boobs rockkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
Also these words I was given mean alot

Cosmetic surgery is rarely about vanity, and very often about self-esteem and confidence, and self-love. Those are important
