  1. I was banded on 12/21 and can eat soft foods as tolerated. I can only eat so much and then I get a full feeling and don't swallow so well. If I pushed through that and kept eating I think I would feel some of the things you are describing. I think by tomorrow you will feel better, however, I would portion out your food so you know how much your new pouch can comfortably handle. It feels like each new thing is a test for me. I can not do fried foods at all. The only meat I can eat right now is chili and I had a quesadilla with chicken that was kinda ground up. Good luck.
  2. I have only been banded for 3 weeks but I have heard people say you need to switch up what your eating or you body gets used to it. Maybe you should try another source of protein once in awhile and see if that helps.
  3. I was banded on 12/21 and have had problems with going. I am not going for 4 or 5 days and have to take milk of magnesia to go. People say it straightens out after awhile. It was really bad when I was only on liqueds, Now that I have been on real food again I am hoping it gets a bit better. Good luck!
  4. I was banded on 12/21 and feel better than ever. I have lost 18 pounds and will go for my first fill on 2/1 if I need it. I started working out last night, did a half hour 1.5 miles on the treadmill with no problem. I am very happy with my decision!
  5. I am on week 3 and have had the same issue. Don't wait too long I didn't go for 5 days. i finally took milk of magnesia and was quite sick for a good hour. I was so backed up I lost about 2.5 pounds after that. lol.
  6. Best of luck. I am on day 18 of being banded and eating soft food as tolerated. I tried moist chicken and it does not feel right, however chicken in homemade chicken soup goes down just fine. Hope all goes well.
  7. I am on week 3 and can only eat a little bit before I get a full feeling. I go for a fill on 2/1 but the Dr. said they will see if I need it. I am nervous if I get a fill I won't be able to eat anything. I am hoping I am just swollen still and that is the reason I can't eat much of the mushies.
  8. Walmart carries a whey protein powder in many flavors chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, etc... It has 52 grams of protein in one scoop. Put in the blender with skim or lowfat milk and a few icecubes and it is like having a healthy milkshake.
  9. I was banded on 12/21. Everything went great. Almost no pain, lost 15 pounds already, and was allowed to start mushies on day 10 as tolerated. The only thing is that I am always cold. I have never had this problem before. I got into bed with a heated mattress pad on 8 and was shivering. Has anyone else had this problem? My husband said it could be lack of iron but I never heard such a thing.
  10. I was banded on 12/21 and had big problems with constipation. I took Milk of Magnesia two night ago and although I was sick for a good hour I felt so much better after. I actually lost 2.5 pounds after finally going. I had a lot of pressure like you are explaining until I went. I have been on muchies since day 10. Everyone's Dr. is different with their diet guidelines, but try to follow it. Try some chewable fiber tablets daily they help a bit. Good luck!
  11. I have been allowed mushied since day 10. However, I have restriction with no fill yet and can only eat certain things and not very much. I don't think you hurt yourself but you should try to follow your Dr.s guidelines. Before you know it you will be allowed real food. Stay strong.
  12. I have started mushies now week 3 but after about day 8 or 9 I was getting very hungry. I made my own protein shakes using the whey protein powder with 52grams of protein ice, and milk in the blender. It filled me up more than the premade protein drinks. I also ate the Cambells condensed cream of chicken soup which really has not chicken and I made it a little watery and strained it. Good luck you will be eating mushies before you know it.
  13. I just started week three and I am allowed to have soft food as tolerated. I have had no problems with anything I have tried including scrambled eggs, greek yogurt, soups, oatmeal, and cream of wheat. I do notice that my appetite is coming back with a vengence now that I am eating real food. I don't get my first fill until Feb 1 and I lost 14 pounds the first two weeks of my band and now gained back 2 pounds since I started eating.
  14. I am 11 days post op and when I eat to much or walk to much my port site bulges like I have an alien on that side of my stomache. It goes down eventually. Be safe and call and ask just in case but it may be nothing just part of the healing process.
  15. Hello everyone, I was banded on 12/21 and have lost 15 pounds so far. My journey has been much easier than i thought it would be. I have had minimal pain from the beginning and practically no gas pains. I have a very low pain tolerance so I was very worried. I have no appetite but have been trying to eat and drink like the Dr. ordered. Yesterday I went for my post op and the Dr. said I could start on yogurt and cream of wheat and stuff and slowly move to mushies as tolerated. I have gone off my diabetes meds because for now my sugar is below 100. My port sight is a little sore and it bulges out a bit after I eat which can be gas. All in all I would do it again in a heart beat.
  16. Im glad your going to see him, I was banded on 12/21 and my pain was minimal as well as the gass. They gave me morphine for a day and a half and then just tylenol. Good luck.
  17. I was banded by Dr. Boorse on 12/21. He did a great job and I felt very safe in his hands. I am entering day 8 and have lost 10 pounds but this liqued stage is getting harder and harder. I go see him or his PA for my preop appointment tomorrow hoping to add some apple sauce and yogurt. Good Luck.
  18. I am making a protein shake with vanilla whey protein by Body Fortrass 52 grams of protein per scoop. I am using ice, lowfat milk, the scoop of protein and a squirt of light or surgar free chocolate syrup. This makes it so I can at least get it down. I have tried every protein powder and drink there is and they are all gross, but this kinda tastes like a chocolate milkshake.
  19. Jess you look great! If that was your goal you definately accomplished it, keep up the good work.
  20. I am 7 days out and have briefly lifted my 18 pound pug onto the bed. I think your fine just don't make a habit of it this early on.
  21. Good luck, I am on day 7 of post op liqueds. I usually add some hot green tea lemon flavor with no caffeine and broth once a day.
  22. I am on day 7 and mentally hungry. Are you allowed applesauce and yogurt and pudding already? I go for my postop check tomorrow and I really hope they say I can have some of that stuff or pureed food.
  23. Thats great, I am on day 6 banded on 12/21 and went lost 8 pounds. I have been a bit depressed for the past few days but this helped. I was 207 pounds with diabetes and am now 199 with sugars at low 90's. Keep up the good work!
  24. You are not alone, I was banded on 12/21 and have many of the same feelings. Everyone around me is eating and eating and sometimes it gets rough. I even started to cry in the car yesterday telling my hubby he didnt understand and that I wanted food. It will pass. Everytime I want food I just think of the future and how healthy and fit I will be from all this. Keep your chin up!
  25. I am on day 6 of my band and have not had a bowel movement. i know its not the best topic but I was just wondering if anyone else had the same issue. I feel great and have had an easy time of things except a little depression watching everyone around me eat all my favorite foods. I see the Dr. for my post op on Thursday, but just wondering if I should take something. My husband said since I am not eating anything solid than there is nothing to come out, but I wonder. Thanks for any suggestions.
