Wish You Would've Known
I had minimal pain, however my mouth was so dry for two days and they wouldn't let me drink until I had the swallow test the next morning. I hear all these people say the pain was so severe but I did not experience that at all I was up and about the next day. I did get hungry but I just ate what I was able to liqueds, mushies, and than healthy food. Good luck, you will be fine!

Nervous About 2Nd Fill
I had my first fill Feb. 1st and it didn't hurt but the needle got stuck in the port and the PA had to pull and pull to get it out, the needle even slipped out of her hand at one point as she was trying to remove it. It was a bit scary. I have no restriction and I know I need another fill which is scheduled for March 6th, but I am nervous this is how it will be every time. It felt like sticking a knife in a cork and it getting stuck.

15 Days Post-Op Plateaued Weight
I was banded on 12/21. I lost 11 pounds the first week on liqueds and another 14 since. However, I can go a whole week without seeing the scale move and than it will move a pound or two. I stopped getting on the scale every day because it was depressing me. I had one fill 2cc and have no restriction. I don't eat any bread, no drinks accept tea and water, and very litte carbs. I know there are going to be times when I don't lose weight and times when I do well, it is a journey. Don't fret and keep on eating right and exercising (although I have been very lax with excercising) and it will all work out. Good luck!

How To Mentally Start Over?
I know how you feel. I was banded on 12/21 and lost 24 pounds since. I only had one 2cc fill and I have no restriction. The past few days I feel like I don't even have a band. Mentally I have been eating like my old self. I even tried some things I haven't dared since banding like a doughnut. I am also ashamed of myself, but know what I have to do to get back on track. I go for a 4cc fill on March 6th and hope it will help, however, I see now how easy it is to slip back into my old way of eating. Don't get down on yourself just get back on track. I am similiar to you needed to loose about 70ish puonds. You are doing great for just 6 months.

First Fill
I had my first fill last week. It did not hurt, but the needle got stuck in the port and the PA had to pull and pull to get it out. It felt like I had a cork inside me. It is a little easier to feel it now I hope she didn't mess anything up. She did not want to do a fill because I had lost 9 pounds in 4 weeks, but instead of putting in 4ccs like they usually start with she only put 2ccs in. I don't feel any restriction and I can eat little bits during the day and quite bit for dinner.

First Fill Tomorrow, Maybe?
I am scheduled for my first fill tomorrow. I am very nervous because the Physicians Assistant is doing it not my Dr. I remember her saying that if I lost enought weight she would not need to do a fill. However, I lost about 22 pounds in 7 weeks and it has come to a halt this week. I am very pleased so far (not complaining) but I kind of hope she will do the fill. How bad does it hurt and how do they find that little port under your skin?

Feel Discouraged
I am post op 6 weeks and can only eat so much before I feel like if I eat anymore I will be sick. i don't eat any bread, maybe a wrap once in a blue moon, very little pasta, and no junk food. I do eat 5 times a day just very small healthy portions. I was getting on the scale every day and I stopped because it was driving me crazy. I didn't loose anything for a whole week and then I lost 3 pounds. It will happen just be patient. Some lose it faster than others, and some have to try harder.

Sandwiches
Today I ate a small turkey and cheese wrap from subway for dinner. I do not have a fill and have not tried bread, rice, or pizza. I usually can't eat much but I was starving. It went down fine but I felt stuffed afterwards. I have lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks so I am not complaining. Good luck.

Throat Feels Like Its Closing When I Eat To Much.
I was banded 6 weeks ago and for the most part it has been great. Much easier than I had expected. I think it is weird though that when I eat to much it feels like my throat closes and I feel like I can't swallow or I may choke. I am not sure if this is common or not, however it keeps me eating small amounts which is a good thing. I took my family to the diner tonight and I ordered a cheese omlet. After about 6 bites of the omelate I felt like I would choke if I kept eating, I have not had anything stuck, because for the most part I am still sticking to soft foods. I tried eating some chicken from the crockpot and a meatball last weekend and they go down but feel heavy and make me feel nauseous. I go to the Dr. for my first fill on 2/1 and I am scared I won't be able to eat at all after because I am not really eating a whole lot now.

Scared :(
I couln't drink milk in the beginnig nor did I want to. I mixed it with water and ice and put it in the blender. I even had to sneak in some lite chocolate syrup to get it down at times. I really tried a dozen different types and had trouble getting any down except the body fortress, however I needed to thicken it like a shake to drink it. It is cheap at Walmart too. I think I paid 14 dollars for a nice size container of chocolate. I don't like or drink milk so now the few times a week a take a shake on the go with me in the morning I use milk to get some added calcium.

Scared :(
I drink the body fortress whey protein powder from Walmart. It comes in different flavors has only 1 gram of sugar and 52 grams of protein per scoop. I put it in the blender with lowfat milk and ice and it tastes like a milkshake.

5 Weeks Post Op Questions!
I am six weeks banded tomorrow and I am getting my appetite back a bit but I think fear of things going down wrong or getting stuck has me not eating things I used to eat like bread, junk food etc.... I also find that when I eat to much I have trouble swallowing and I feel like I am going to choke. Don't know if this is normal. I will ask at my first fill on 2/1. Good luck.

So Frustrated...
My mother in law was visiting and wanted to get eveyone Chineese food after I was banded 1 week. I asked them to go out instead and she told me "You made this decision to have the band and now you have to deal with it." No one is going to stop eating just because you can't" It started a big war. I wanted to throw her out but I bit my tongue.

Eating Solids Three Weeks After Surgery
I was banded 12/21 and my Dr. let me do soft foods as tolerated after day 11. I am still eating soft mostly soft foods because of fear mostly but I like it that way. I have had no bread, and the only meat I have eaten is Chili and very soft chicken in soups. When I try heavier foods I don't get stuck they just don't sit well and I become a bit nauseated. I am able to eat more at a sitting lately so I am looking forward to my first fill on 2/1. Good luck.

Not Enough Fluid.
I was banded on 12/21 and feel great. However, I drank more water before being banded. My tastes have changed and water doesn't even taste that great to me anymore. I drink a 20oz tea in the morning and try and drink water during the day while I'm teaching but don't seem to even finish one. Since I don't drink and eat at the same time like I used to there is no liqued there. I feel good and besided from being 18 pounds down and the scale not moving in the past week everything is good. Will I get sick if I only drink anout 30-40oz liqued a day?

10 Lbs Down?Very Frustrated
What are you eating? I was banded on 12/21 and have lost almost 20 pounds but I still don't eat much. I starting walking the treadmill for a half hour 3-4 days per week. I go for my first fill on 2/1.

Lap Band Port
I feel the same way. I thought I was crazy but I told my husband to feel the port site after I ate and it was a bit puffy and hard. It was weird at first but I guess I am used to it now because I barely notice it.

Post Op And Hungry
I know it is hard but it will get easier. I am on week 3.5 and can try soft food as tolerated. I started with scrambled eggs and egg whites with cheese in them and have been able to try little things since like healthy choice quesadilla and spring rolls and a few other things. It has definately gotten better but it is still hard watching my family eat pizza and other good food when I am eating soup and eggs. Good luck!
