  1. I love your post and you'll love your sleeve!! Good luck to you and keep us posted
  2. Carbs are also on my plan, my nut told me not to count them!
  3. I've had loads of skimmed milk from day 2 post surgery and my carbs are/were always a bit too high because that. I tried soya milk for a while to lower my carbs but I just hate it. So yeah I drink milk and I have to put up with the slower weight loss, but I don't think I could survive without it
  4. I've had 3 c-sections and the recovery from the VSG is much easier. Post surgery I was more uncomfortable with the sleeve (the first few hours) but mainly because of gases. I too had a fantastic and quick recovery with my C-sections, and as I say with VSG the first few hours are the worse. Hope this helps, good luck

Isn't it great! I wax and I used to have to put a mirror there to see what I was doing, now a have a panoramic view!!
  6. Thanks again guys,I feel so much more relaxed after seeing my surgeon and will start to enjoy the new me a bit more now
  7. Once again thanks for the feedback! Just came back from seeing my surgeon and he's really happy with my "progress" I still find it difficult to call it progress because I only lost a couple of pounds in so many months, he says he's happy with what I achieved up to now and my goal (yep, only 9lbs to goal now)is a very realistic one. When I said that I will still not have a "normal" BMI he said it didn't matter, he doesn't have a "normal" one either (and he is VERY fit and goodlooking). SO I am happy and less stressed
  8. First of all can I say well done you for deciding on the sleeve after everything you've been through! I know its not comparable to your situation but I just thought I would mention I've had breast surgery (reduction-for medical reasons) about 8 years ago. After that I had a 3rd child ,breast fed, put on loads of weight, had my sleeve almost 8 months ago and lost quite a lot of weight in the last year (about 65lbs) Needless to say my boobs are a mess, deflated, saggy, not a nice sight. I plan to have them done in december when I get my TT done, seeing as I've done all the hard work I might as well get everything sorted out! Good luck and keep us posted!
  9. I don't think that's unreasonable, I think here in England its more expensive, around $10,000. I'm getting mine done in Paraguay (that's where I'm from) my mums lending me the money, I think it's around $5,000. So seeing as we're going anyway for Christmas I had to book it now, I'm so excited!! I agree that with liposuction the results won't be as good, especiaally because your problem is probably mostly skin. I will prob have TT+liposuction, I still have some fat around my middle are. I am exercising like mad though to try to get rid of most of it before my surgery! I hope you find those $$ laying around, you'll feel fantastic, keep us posted!!
  10. Sorry Swizzly about the hysterical comment, I honestly didn't mean that, I guess it just hit a nerve with me. I've had such a good experience with my surgeon (and as I said before my Dad and my husband are surgeons) that I seem to forget that there are a**holes in all fields! (I'm not saying that her particular surgeon is) We all have are opinions on things and I know we should respect them. (please rant whenever you feel the need, it's what keeps me sane-ish!)
  11. You guys are the best! Now this is just silly but reading your replies brought tears to my eyes. Thank you all so much!
  12. Thank you guys I feel a bit better about this now. Tommorrow I'm seeing my surgeon so I'm quite nervous!
  13. Great job, and I agree you look loads younger!
  14. I understand how you feel but please don't beat yourself up about it. At least you admit that you had a few hiccups and you're doing the right thing now. 4-5 lbs isn't a big deal, it can be water weight. Just continue doing what you are doing and you'll continue with the weight loss!
  15. Good luck to you, I didn't mean to give you bad vibes posting the studies that stae the liver thing. I too believe alot in things happening for a reason, and contrary to what a lot of people think i think doctors/surgeons have ouer best interests at heart as Dive said (maybe because my dad and husband are surgeons??)
  16. Different views on this but people tend to go for 70 gr protein, around 40 gr carbs and fat around 30-40 I think. There are loads of threads because of the different views of amount of carbs. If you track your food on fatsecret.com (there are other food trackers out there too) when you enter your food it works out the amount of carbs, protein, fats as well as the calories of course. Hope this helps
  17. B: Greek yoghurt, muesli, blueberries L: cheese omelette S: 1 portion (13 gr) dark chocolate D: Dunno yet,!
  18. Ok, so after a lot of brainstorming I decided to change my goal. My weight hasn't been moving for the last 2 months, I changed quite a few things dietwise and exercise wise and still nothing. I feel under a lot of pressure and stressed because the weight isn't coming off. I am fine with my body now, (except my tummy but I'm getting that fixed in december) So I had a chat with my husband and my best friend and they both said something that makes a lot of sense :MAybe this is the weight my body feels comfortable. My nutritionist had said that I would stop losing weight when my body felt comfortable, but I completely forgot about that. So I'm 9 lbs away from my new target ( which was what my surgeon set for me in the first place) I feel a bit frustrated because I probably won't reach the "normal" BMI, I aim now to go down to a BMI of around 25 which still is slightly overweight I just think that I am so happy with the way I look now, I feel so healthy, I exercise loads and I'm loving it, I run around the park with my 1 year old without feeling like I'm gonna die, but the numbers on the scales depress me, so I'm gonna ignore them when I get to my new target. I'm going to continue with my eating and exercise plan when I get to new goal, but I'm not gonna stress about numbers anymore. Does this make any sense or am I just finding excuses? I promise I won't take it as bad criticism if you tell me what I don't want to hear, but your feedback is really important to me. This forum is a lifeline to me, I don't think I would have achieved what I have if it wasn't for all of you, thank you! PS:Trying to attach pics from my42 bday, hope it workseven though there are none where you can see my body, i'll take new ones whhen I lose 9 more lbs
  19. Same here in Newcastle, exactly the same actually. I did it to the letter and only lost a couple of pounds though On the other hand my consultant said I had the most beautiful liver he had ever seen in his life, which is quite a compliment coming from a surgeon! I didn't say if this surgeon was right or wrong in not doing the operation, just stating that the research is out there, and probably it's cheaper to just get all preops to do the diet instead of testing for enlarged liver, just my opinion though, no need to get hysterical over it.
  20. You know I feel exactly the same. I think because I haven't reached goal and I indulge in some "treats" once in a while I feel like a failure. I do agree with what Tiff said though, I thing all these prohibited bad foods nonesense made me fat in the first place, I would not let myself eat anything for weeks and then binge on them. Your weight loss is amazing, so you've already been a success.
  21. From the begining I've always toleraded ice cold smoothies and any drinks in generAL. I don't gulp them dow even 8 months out. Strange how our bodies/ stomachs all behave differently after surgery, isn't it?
  22. That's the reason I only told my closest friends and my closest family (mum, dad, 1 of my brothers, hubby children who all suport me 100%) From the rest I'm lucky that I get only postive comments, I guess people know that I'm always on a diet (have been sice I was 10) so they think it's just one of my succesful diets. Sometimes I feel guilty when people say oh you have so much willpower and strength to do it, b ut I gues in a way all of us who are going through this have
  23. There are quite a lot of scientific articles out there showing that low calorie diets do help to reduce liver size and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, this is just one of them http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B7MD3-516MRFT-1&_user=10&_coverDate=10%2F10%2F2010&_rdoc=1&_fmt=high&_orig=gateway&_origin=gateway&_sort=d&_docanchor=&view=c&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=acfe1f99e1ad2057721094f51b3ff310&searchtype=a
  24. From about 2 months out I had a weight watchers or multigrain tortilla with refried beans, cheese and tomato slices and in the panini press to make it nice and soft. At first I would have just a quarter of it,, at around 4 months out I could have a whole one. Now(8 months out) I stay away f rom them as much as I can cause I like them too much!
