  1. Exactly, thats why it's the "refinesd" sugars and as you say the corn syrup or foods that contain these syrups. If you watch number 10 he talks about the japanese and asians, who eat rice but more than 1/2 less "refined sugars" than americans (and I suppose english peolpe eat as much as americans) Even though obesity rates are raising in India now too.
  2. I just posted somewhere else, mine was very thin to start with, ,hair loss started for me at 3 months now at nearly 6 months it's strating to grow back(horrible short dark brown hairs) and hardly falls out any more. I never stopped colouring or styling, I figured if it was gonna fall out anyway I would still look nice in the process! Nobody notices unless I specifically point it out. I'd have the hairlossinstead of the fat anyday!!
  3. I'm sorry for all you who are going through this, i know it's stressful to say the least. Tiffy, that happened to my the last time I was pregnant, I had slightly elevated HCG levels in blood serum, I got them done again a couple of days later annd the values more than doubled, needless to say I was pregnant in my 40's. So I would suggest you got another blood test just in case, good luck I will be praying for you all.
  4. I started losing at abot 3 months, and I had really thin hair to start with, so I wasreally worried! Now nearly 6 months out it has slowed down to nearly nothing, and I am starting to grow horrible little hairs! But, as Anna pointed out, my butt looks good in jeans too,and I'm loving it
  5. Great video Julie, I loved yyour comparison of the scales with a GPS! I'm sure your"gain" is just water, as you say you're doing everything right!

Thanks so much for this link Julie I've watched up to number 8, it's a great explanation of why sugars make us fat,it has changed my beliefs on a lot of what i thought I knew. I'm going to do some more research on this,so interesting my only question is how ldo we stay away from all these bad carbs for the rest of our lives? Hopefully as he explains we will have less fat so we will have no need to overeat. I am on low carsb now, so I hope it works!
  7. B: scrambed egg coffee w soya milk L: rocket and carrot salad couple of pieces of lean ham roleed up in cream cheese S: cup of coffee w skimmed milk D: no idea yet! It's really cold here in the UK as well, not snow but raining very annoyingly, can't wait for spring to arrive!
  8. As many of you might have realised I'm struggling with the low carb high carb thing. Juliarh posted days somewhere, I've been watching them (there are 10" lectures), a good understanding of how carbohydrates (especially refined sugars) make us fat. Worth checking it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEH0OZVHmvQ&feature=related

So true about our bodies being different and responding different to different things! I lost 56 lbs without restricting myy "good carbs" but now I'm trying to stay lowcarb (around 40)because of my 1 month stall, hopefully I'll start losing again!!
  10. Thats interesting GT, our bodies work in such misterious ways that who knows what's right and wrong in the end! How long ago did you have your surgery again? I'm almost 6 months now, cut the milk out since yesterday and am working out more intensly now. I did an hour of a body pump class yesterday (a bit of cardio and weights, not very heavy though I don't want to build loads of muscle) Today I did just Cardio (30 min elipticaL and 30 stationary bike) I'm hoping that this will break my stall at last

part of OUR diet i meant
  12. chilo1 replied to tiffnie's topic in Food and Nutrition
I meant only good carbs, I think at this stage bad carbs (refined sugars cakes chocolate ALCOHOL) shouldn't be part of are diet. In fatsecret.com the carbs come out when you log you're food in. I do agree though you need to see what your doctor recommends. As I said earlier I wouldn't recomend the bad carbs at this stage
  13. I did feel uncomfortable at first with mushies, but I started eggs when I was a bit further out cause I found them quite "heavy" to my stomach. Now I eat 2 eggs for breakfast!
  14. chilo1 replied to tiffnie's topic in Food and Nutrition
I didn't restrict carbs( did track them though and stay under 100 most of the time) But now that I've been stalled for a month I'm restricting them to see if it kick starts my weight loss again, I lost 56 lbs but have near 20 to go, so I'm gonna try keep them below 40 as I've seen people on this forum do and see what happens
  15. I had quite a bit of pain when I woke up, still in the recovery room, that I can remember well, bad gas pains. After a few hours it wasn't that bad though, it was bearable but just uncomfortable. We all have different pain thresholds so we all experience pain differently
  16. I've deen stalled since the 16 of december 2010, so more than a month now
  17. Thanks for sharing your story, I'm glad you woke up with the procedure done this time! |The best of luck on your weight loss journey
  18. So i guess you're recovering well? How long after having your sleeve did this happen? Best of luck
  19. Incredible how things that you don't even imagine are loaded with calories, I dread to think how many calories I was consuming pre-sleeve when I wasn't on a diet. I already counted what I would typically have when I was "dieting" and it was near 3000 cal somedays OMG. I used to be a huge volume eater
  20. I get quite hungry now, wasn't hungry at all for the first few months, I still think most of it is head hunger though. It's incredible how I can eat more without that much restriction, which is good in a way because I feel "normal" again, I do have to measure my food carefully now though
  21. ] I did that for the first couple of weeks, literally ate with my baby, focusing on the protein of course as someone said earlier, good luck!
  22. It depends a lot on your doctor, at 2 months I was having melon/watermelon and banana ocasionally, i suppose peaches would be OK, I think I had peaches when I was early out, but again, it depends on your surgeons guidelines. Tomatoes I would cook a bit inside a wrap in e pnini press thing when i was desperate for fresh vegetables
  23. B: Peanut Butter on half a piece of wholemeal toast 1 egg L:refried beens with a bit of cheese wrapped in lettuce (not using wraps as I starting low carb today!!) S: coffee w soya milk- not that bad dinner will probably be a stir fry (bean sprouts, cabbage and peppers)and a sausage
  24. What a wonderful choice you made in the end, I am so happy for you
